Higurashi Kai was the end, Rei is just the epilouge. this is a mystery series, once Kai revealed the truth and gave us a happy ending there was no reason to continue, besides, the writer is done with Higurashi, hes focusing on Umineko now

Kotohogushi is a brand new arc made just for this game all about how Hanyu became Oyashiro. the guy is Riku Furude and the girl is Hanyu's daughter, Ouka Furude
