I'm actually kinda disappointed with this album. I expected something awesome like Anti-Pop or Frizzle Fry or Even Pork Soda but Les stuck with the Experimental stuff he got when he was working with Buckie and when he went solo. I'll bootleg the album but it's not worth buying.

But when I`ve now listened the whole album something like 5 times already. (I bought this last Sunday) Everytime I listen this album, it always gets better and better. It`s the same as in every other Primus albums. And Antipop and Frizzle Fry are really amazing albums, but so is this. I love Green Naugahyde.

@durpadoo Formula. The influence that you base your songs around. Claypool got wrapped up in the experimental side when He Started Colonel Claypool's Bucket of Bernie Brains. You can hear it in the new album. The ambience, the experimental style the instruments hint on. It's all there, sure it's not exactly the same as his solo stuff but you cannot honestly tell me there's no influence. just listen. It sure as shit ain't close to the funky alternative stylings of Primus from the 90's.

Bands change and it's either for better or worse and My expectations included Primus sticking close to their roots but hearing something new. Which they've done it's just a huge fucking jump in my opinion. This sounds like a whole new band to me, more of another one Les's Side projects.
one big reason this era of primus is going to be compared to claypool's solo stuff is because jay lane was in one if not many projects that were done on the side, they have a chemistry which dates back to like 89/sausage era.

You have to be a loyal fan of Primus and the Les Claypool community to know how to appreciate this album.
I'm afraid, even I don't know how to enjoy such a cake. Primus evolved in a good direction, but I my taste in music went another direction after Oysterhead ended. This just isn't a CD I'm interested in buying anymore; it's nott the fun and goofiness the older stuff was.
I really wish Les would drop the distortion for the main riff. Imagine how it would sound with the pork soda/hamburger train sound of bass. Still good but he's fallen too in love with that sound, it seems like he does it with everything now.
@barryjust1 I totally agree. I was crossing my fingers that this album wouldnt have all the stupid bass effects that he uses in his solo stuff (which I hate). His bass is a trip by itself, the effects just kill it. As for the quality of the music what can I say, they're older. It happens. And most importantly of all you have to take into consideration HES NO LONGER TWEAKING!! This is what happens when musicians go sober.
PEOPLE, GET OVER IT. If you go to a show, you'll ear Les say it himself.
