Cold air intake has proven to give a lot of gains on 2zz XRS from what I know (13ish whp). The biggest problem with the stock xrs intake is that it is from the 1zz Corolla that runs only up to 6400 rpm. XRS has a good 2000 more rpm to go where it needs A LOT more air than 1zz. That is why the stock intake chokes the life out of the power.
Hey thanks guys for the info, so Im probably going to get a sri, but im not sure if I should get fujita or an AEM sri. AEM claims to outperform any other intake in the market so I was wondering what you guys recommend.
as far as i know, every intake co. claims to outperform every other co. out there, it's never going to change (advertising purposes) ask around, look @ proofs (dynos), & listen to what ppl have to say about their intakes...
...i guess what i can say is, "u pay 4 what u get". from what i was told, fujita used to work for injen & redevelop a higher airflow intake sys. aem is a sis. co. of (i think) greddy...
when i get a chance, ill post a side-by-side sound clip of my friend's aem & my fujita...big diff. on the humming sound level (air getting sucked-in) i would race him but it wouldn't do any justice since he's got more mods & 1zz vs 2zz
i don't think ive seen any sri to gain 13whp & 9lbs torque other than my fujita (ask around, any1 whose got a sri how much power they gained) all i can say is im 101% satisfied with the performance of my fujita!
i doubt it (unless he's s/c, but he's not) i meant it wouldn't do any justice racing his 1zz with my 2zz for comparison purposes between different intakes. if we both have the same engine platform & no mods other than the intakes, then it would be a fair comparison test, but even with his minor mods i think i can take him 8)
sri is more efficient on low-end power, cai on top-end, our xrs has a lot of top-end but lacks low-end. also, i like to clean my filter often & would rather have easy access when removing filter head, i also hate taking risk on getting water in if i use cai on a rainy day.
main reason...fujita air prototyped my car for mass production on their competition air intake systems, they advised that i get the sri due to my xrs lacking low-end. if you'd look on their website (f5air,com) check out applications for 06corollaXRS, the pic is my actual car & dyno sheet.
Hey man, do you have any idea how much horsepower and torque the magnaflow exhaust pushes out? Cause I was gonna get a catback for my corolla and its gonna be between the borla which has gains of 5hp and 4 ft lbs. and the magnaflow. But I can't find info for the magnaflow. And you should also do a video of just revving the car.
@surfordie82: fosho!

I think Toyota's lift is even more radical than VTEC, VVTL-i was certainly more advanced than Honda's back in 2000.

Hey could you give me a link to or part # of the exhaust system + resonator?

So his 1zz is actually faster than your 2zz because of mods?

Hey also why did you decide to go with the sri rather than the cai?

not sure on xrs, but there's a dyno for an 03s on magnaflow website 8)

as far as i know, the diff. between borla & MF is that MF is stainless w/ lifetime warranty & uses the straight through design on their mufflers.

sure, ill post a rev vid as soon as i get a chance 8)
