yeah, that WAS kinda funny, but when you're under a time limit like these guys, you don't really have much time nor inclination to run down your battery for the test film...

That being said, there were several more reasons why this was a bad idea, first and foremost? Having a more stable mount so that bumps or settling doesn't cause this build to get caught in your tire and break makes the unrealistic test film a low priority on the "What you did wrong" list...

This won't produce 5 volts constant, you should have kept the battery and regulated the 5 volts. Also, this isn't getting free energy. This is taking energy from you via increased friction. That power is coming from you, which comes from food, which is a lot harder to make than 5 volts of electricity.

Ok everyone, just bought the same exact radio at radioshack for 35$. Now im planning on using all of the components but still using the generator on the bike tire to power the usb. Also I plan to use the lights from the radio to basically make a headlight for my bike seen as I don't have one. I'll let you know my progress and probab a vid response here in a couple of days.

PS I ride my bike a lot to commute and for fun so this should come in great use. Oh and thanks for the great idea HH
