  • That's awesome

  • this sounds amazing! i'm trying to learn celtic/irish songs on a traditional flute but hope to get an irish flute one day. very cute girl, too. :D

  • lovely

  • Well played! I play the Irish flute myself. Nice beat, nice tempo. After you posted this, Kev Crawford has recorded Mystery Reel together with Cillian Vallely on their "On Common Ground" album

  • You are more beautiful than the beautiful tune...

  • That is a very nice playing! Can you please tell me the name of your flute? (i'm trying to choose one fo me))

  • What a pretty song and you play great!

  • That second tune is in June McCormack's latest flute tutorial Fliuit 2. Great stuff.

  • Well done!

    Really enjoying hearing you play.

  • what brand flute is this?

  • awesome!

  • wow you are very good i hope everything goes well for you!

  • great playing!!

  • omg! She's so beautiful and playing super well :O

  • Its about you posted more videos 'Seisflutes'... Dont be shy? :)

  • Well, I'm hoping to get a preamp for Christmas, so when I record stuff on my computer it doesn't sound so quiet. If that works out, more videos are more likely, although my graphics chip is broken and can rarely handle recording video... But we shall see. Thanks for asking! :)

  • very nice

  • Go on Kell!

Every time I hear you play you are better that the last time. Keep it up girl, You Rock! Still got to get you out to the session on Wed. If you need a ride let me know.

  • Ha, well, this was over a year ago... Thanks. I still have classes on Wednesdays, but thanks for the offer again. :)

  • i play clarinet, and i would die trying to play that!

  • Well, I wouldn't have much luck trying to play clarinet! :P

  • i really love the sound of irish flutes 1 of my favorits sounds

  • u should try moving a bit... helps u to get into the music =) but its very nice ^^

  • I wonder how many times I'll have to say it... recording myself used to make me extremely nervous... There was no way I was going to get into it in that situation!! If you were playing with me in a session, it'd be different. Thanks anyhow.

  • Fantastical!

  • fantastic playing!! you are a very talented multi-intrumentalist

i love specially the sound of Bb uilleann pipes

    You have a band?

  • Thanks. :) My flat set is in B, not Bb, but whatever. I have a Bb flute though. And no band.

  • sorry for the confusion

your flute playing is top level, and your pipes are good too...the fidlle can be improve..but you are a nice touch too

  • Yeah, my fiddling has actually improved a good bit since I made that video, but I still have a looong way to go!

  • brill :-)

  • Hey thats really nice i ply the classical flute but am thinking on starting the trad flute is it hard? i play the bagpipes already so alot of the cuts and grace notes ar ment to b the same or so ive heard??? Well done u sound really good

  • It's a little different from the classical flute, but I'm sure you could make the switch. I used to play classical flute too. If you get a whistle (or already have one) and can play that, the two techniques can come together when you get an "Irish" flute and the transition is pretty smooth.

  • Thanks

  • Thanks

  • I think it would be easier for you if you lifted up the end of your flute more. Just a little bit. You look like you are constraining your neck a bit more than you should.

Anyway, you play very well. Nice breath support! :) It all sounds very good all together. :)

  • Yeah, well, I think that's because I was all tense because of I was video recording. I really HATE recording myself in any form... it freaks me out. In a normal session situation, I'm much more relaxed and everything is just better.

Thanks for your input! Maybe I'll be able to relax a little more next time I try a flute video...

  • Take a look at the other comments on posture. Again, this is a typical Irish flute posture. Nice playing. Looks like an Ormiston you have there.

  • Thanks. :) It's actually a Burns...

  • Ah, yes. Now I see the short foot he's famous for.

  • I'm not saying to bring it all the way up like as if she was playing a classical flute. Just a little bit. Like an inch. You know? =]

    But anyway thanks for reiterating.

**And I still think you did very well!!**

And I have a question. Where do you get your music from (assuming you learn from sheet music)?

  • Ah, well, I don't usually learn from sheet music, sorry. I get tunes from sessions, recordings, and workshops.

  • Ah darn. Oh well. I'm trying to do a bit myself. The key signatures sometimes make me slip up though, which drives me crazy. Hope I can do as well as you!

I really need to get an Irish flute though. Dang. I'll have to do some shopping!!

    Happy St. Pat's!!

  • what is this tune called?

  • As it says at the beginning, they are The Long Drop and The Mystery Reel (yes, that's what it's called).

  • Thanks i Didnt see that!!!

  • bello

  • very nice! can I marry you?

  • Oh and your low roll on the Long Drop is really clean. Wish mine were better but I play stuff too fast :=)

  • Nice playing! No fiddlin' about, just letting the tunes come through. I love the Long Drop - play it with Laurel Tree first and Up-Downey before.

  • WOW!!! U did a great job!!! my mom plays reg. flute, I play woodwind but not any kind of flute. Is it hard to learn??? i would LOVE to be able to play the Irish flute.

  • People are being waaay to critical. That was fantastic. Loved ur rolls, really enjoyed it =D Thanks.

  • you kinda look like you are shy of the flute or something. lol. its just the way ur holding it. try to keep it straight.

  • I'm shy of recording, is what it is.

  • A large number of flute players in Ireland hold their flutes exactly the same....so I'm afraid you'll be thinking we're all very shy...which of course we're not ;-)

Seisflutes is a pretty good player, whatever her shyness may be like (or not)

    B.

  • Hi seisflutes,

The sound doesn't suck, just the quality of the recording. The Burns flute and your playing are great. Can you make another recording that shows the sound of the Burns a little better-maybe a vid with better quality? Just a thought.

  • Maybe. Not right now... I have this landlord at the moment... maybe over winter break.

  • too bad the sound is a bit soft. And try to keep the flute horizontal the next time ;)

  • I know, the sound sucks. Blah.

  • Wow-excellent job. Loved the tunes and the sound of the Casey Burns flute. I currently have a folk flute-it has an amazing sound and ease of playing for the price. I have a large holed standard on order in blackwood. Which model is yours? It's beautiful.

  • Thanks! Mine is a normal-holed standard in mopane.

  • Nice playing. I own a similiar flute, production made, but not quite as good as you. Hope to be playing at your level in a year, I hope. Keep it up.

  • What key is that in?? cuz it sounds perfect and where'd you get it??? Im sorry im asking so many questions, but i am OBSESSED i with the flute and irish anything so...yea.

  • How long have you been playing??? Because i reeely wonder how you can get your fingers to move soo fast.

  • five years on flute total, Irish flute three years. I played normal flute for a couple years before I got this one, though I really only wanted to play Irish music the whole time. I tried to do the Joanie Madden thing until I could afford a different flute!

  • Where do you get an irish flute like that? when i went on ebay, they all looked different. And are the fingerings on an irish flute, different from a regular flute? cuz i wanna play the irish flute and i play the regular flute...someone please help me!!!

  • Nicely played. No guitar to muddy up the works. Just a lovely couple of tunes played well. Congratulations. Five stars for this one.

  • Hi, Kelly!

Lovely, as always. Thanks for doing this! :-) cat.

  • Thanks. :)

  • Very nice sound, good tunes.

  • Where'd you get your flute?

  • Casey Burns. He has a website. caseyburnsflutes DOT com

  • This is such a beautiful instrument! great job! beautiful!

  • nice playing

  • Nice playing, Kelly! When are you coming out to McGinty's, or are you too good for us? Well, yes, you are too good for us, but come on out anyways!

  • Oh hi! No, I'm not too good for you! You're too good for me! What day of the week is the session there, Tuesday or something? I'd love to come out, really I would. I have classes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights though. We'll see.

  • Hey Kelly! At last I hear you playing the flute and it was....SIMPLY AMAZING!!! I usually play that Last Drop tune from master Crawford...but as I see you've been studying directly from him! You took a great advantage :D

    Please, we need more!

  • Thanks! I actually learned the Long Drop from June McCormack a few years ago, but yeah, Kevin does play it, and I have had a couple classes from him. :) He's fun.

  • Sorry, long drop!!! Yeah, he seems to be a funny guy :D

By the way...when are you going to post some uillean piping? ;)

  • thats really good...i remember you from Kevin Crawford's flute class...

  • i've never herd anything so pritty in my life ur vary good at playing the Irish flut .

  • This one's in D. It may look short, but that's just 'cause it doesn't have the long foot with the vestigial vent holes.

  • What key is your flute in?

  • Where did you get your irish flute from? I love them so much:)

  • Casey Burns. He has a website, just google him. It's a great flute.

  • thats soo cool =]

  • WOW that is really good I don't even know how to play irish flute so I can't say anything other than that

  • Wow - great playing. Thanks for sharing.

  • Nice set and very well played. Keep it up!
