  • thanks mate, that was really helpful!

  • u talk so much omgosh!

  • hahah

  • Good video :)

  • hEy cutie.. do u do private lessons?,,heheh

  • thank you soo much.

    this really helped.

    [:

  • do you have any adivice for people who have claw like left hands lol. It is pretty bad it will eventually ger better but ii can barely do anything with my left hand

  • OMG!!!!! I just got that same guitar!! Haha! This should be very fun!!!

  • Good intro.

  • you should move the camera up a bit i can't see the whole guitar

  • lol you are talking like 2 min about your life and then you beginn to talk about guitars

  • i've been playin a yr and i tought myself and i thinkk im not bad for only playing one yr u kno playin some clapton and stuff

but i was having problem with my picking so i tryied te way u said to hold the pick and it fixed right away man good vid

  • shit, i was aiming for 3:12

  • hahaha

  • good comeback ..thanks

  • Hah! Funny!! =) I JUSt this second got my first ever guitar! This vid helped. Thanks!

  • thanks, its help a lil, i seem to be really bad at this, i only started today ^-^

  • i feel there is no right way to hold a pick or guitar neck its how you feel comfortable i mean my guitar teacher tried making me do it the traditional way which i find really uncomfortable but if i teach friend i say play how you feel comfortable as i hold the guitar neck useing the grip(baseball) way its how you feel best playin and what your style is shredders play traditional to cover all the fretboard and blues mainly use the grip

  • I think it is great that you are offering free lessons on You-Tube.

  • dude, you shouldn't do it "baseball" style, thats bull $h!T, it gives you bad technique. learn it right so you don't have to re-learn everything when you realize how inconvenient it is.

  • you shouldnt always play traditional

baseball has its uses for chords, i mean, unless you're doing barre chords, its really hard to play chords without using baseball

traditional is mainly for scales, soloing and things of that nature

and baseball is not a style, it is a type of left hand technique that is used by, im pretty sure, every guitarist

  • Dude you are a great teacher I love your videos, thank you.

  • you're from south carolina???

sweet, finally a home boy on youtube

  • thnx man :) u were greatt

  • Thats good help for beggining guitar players.

  • Solid info....so much to learn, so much to cover, but you nailed it in a relaxed manner.

  • There are some critical comments by ignorant people for the video you posted. But I really appreciate that fact that you want to help people lean music, and I appreciate the fact that you took the time to make and/ or post this video, soo Thank you...

  • ME 2 :)

  • Great for the beginner, very informative, well thought trough I was impressed. I read some of the other comments and obviously they know much more than you do but are afraid to teach it as you do. One thing though... center the guitar more. Can't wait for more.

    Foolm8

  • You talk to much...

    Jeez..

  • thanks!

  • q tio mas tonto

  • im jus beginning and i was jus wondering every wen do u change ur guitar strings?

  • like every month or so, depending on how much i play

you can go a few months though, it just sounds rusty

  • i havent changed mine for 1 year LOL

  • Thank you so much for these vids! They are very helpful. Look forward to seeing more!

  • it doesnt matter if you play guitar left or right handed ... JIMI HENDRIX greatest guitarist in the world played his left handed

  • that true

but there always be people that complain about everything in a sensless way

lets just laugh about those dumbases

    lol

  • thanks, my parents say they'll be me one if I know how to play. thank you.

  • Hey i'm left handed but i play right handed (the way ur playing) and im just starting out with electric guitar. My picking and strumming with the pic is inacurate with single strings cause im left handed. Any tips on wut i can do to improve?

  • practice, lol

    seriously keep at it

  • Kk thanks, Ur vids are really good, they have already helped me a lot. Thanks :)

  • dont play right handed. a monkey could have told u that

  • .............. my left hand would be so much better fretting buddy.

  • dude trust me if your left handed your right hand should do the fretting. you need your good hand to strum and later start alternate picking, which u wont be able to do with your right hand. trust me man its like that for a reason. i once thought like u too.

  • It varies by person. Some people play better "wrong handed." I'm right-handed, but I play left-handed because it's more convenient for me for my right hand to be on the fretboard. Picking and strumming is no hard task for my left hand. Go with what's right for you, and ignore those who insist on a "correct" way that doesn't feel right for you.

  • Thanks! this might help me alot! my fingers hurt tho... hope it'l stop soon...

  • thanks dude my dad gave me his guitar and hes been teaching me but since hes gotta work this vid helps teach me were he left off

  • I started teaching myself today... How long will my fingers hurt?? I only learned a few chords and played for about 2 hours, and my fingers are just killing me! should I practice less at first? or more more more? ouch

  • you're doing fine, keep playing, youll get chalices (rough spots on your fingers) you wont feel a thing after that

    hope that helps!

  • wow you make it look so easy!

  • thnx gr8 vid..it was kinda confusing cuz i was playing in electric

  • Thanks for the instructional video. Im trying to teach myself, I always wanted to play as a kid, and never did. so i figure now or never! Keep up the good work!

    Im much appreciative!!

  • That's really helpfull for those of us that want to be self-taught.. Thanks man keep it up ;D

  • if he's teaching you, then how are you self taught?

  • i have a guitar but i dunno to use it!!

but i would like to knoe how to use it!!

n im lucky i found someone to teach me in youtube for free!!!

    thankies so much!!!!

  • Thanks dude! You rock ^_^

  • good video I liked your teaching. Going to start to wathc all your videos. Keep up the good work!

  • :) nice vid

  • With "tradional left hand technique" i've found it helps with speed shredding on electic guitars. Great vid :)

  • good observation

its actually better to use traditional when soloing and shredding

baseball is for chords and such, or anytime you need to mute the top few strings

  • heej! i liked your video:D i'm a beginner and i don't know how to start, but you might be my teacher:p greets daisy, belgium

  • Your teachings are very helpful and easy to follow along to. Thanks for posting!

  • dude..

    SMILE!

    :D

  • well just in case for the beginners..the name of the string`sz are: string 1:high E ; string 2:B ; string 3:G; 4th:D ;5th:A ; 6th:low E. I remebered the name of the string by a phrase...(high) Every Boy Goes Dancing At (low) Easter. ((mayb 2 u guy`sz tht will b easier.

    =D

  • awesome phrase!

thanks for giving advice and watching

  • anchoring your pinky be a very bad habit for electric players when you want to speed up and play faster songs

people anchor their pinkys on the pickup ring or on the high e string so the muscle memory in your hand tells you the distance between each string, and where each string is (it's cheating!)

if you close your hand and pull your pinky/other fingers in you can speed up (alot actually)

but that isn't really relevant to acoustic players

    just my thoughts...

    good video!

  • THANK YOU!

seriously, this is the first comment ive gotten that actually adds on to what im teaching (well gives advice)

i seriously appriciate it, and totally agree

if you want to play with speed, anchoring your pinky is not always the best thing to do, but for accuracy with beginners, it is good

it can potentially become a bad habit though

PRACTICE BOTH WAYS, ON AND OFF

    thanks again!

  • no problem.i myself have been playing for 10+ years never took any lessons, so of course the way I taught myself was all the WRONG techniques (playing baseball bat style, holding pick wrong, anchoring pinky). it's best to learn how to play the right way when u first start! I have run into major frustration and roadblocks while trying to play faster songs, and UN-learning all the bad habits seems like the toughest thing in the world to do. Thanks again!

  • Can you explain what you mean by anchoring your pinky please.

  • slahblah

Anchoring the pinky means touching your little finger to the guitar body as a guide for your picking hand (for me, the left hand).

  • lol, sry I mean Im picking with my arm instead with my hand ;)

  • well, thanks for this video :) But I can't see how you're ankering your pinky finger there. Im getting myself into picking songs, ans its really hard, because im kinda picking with my whole hand, instead with my HAND..so it would be nice to see know how or where to anker the pinky or how to position the hand on the bridge.

    thx

  • very informative. thanks

  • damn I suck I just got my 1st guitar today and all this just went over my head.

  • u really are the non egostic people who teach right from the basics such as simple rhythm the guitar and strumming methods not like all those boors who jump straight to fancy shcamncy stuff when they say its BASIC. oh well your thebest basic teacher who dwells on the basics and have an arsenal of more videos to help us advanced. Your the best and good luck for ur grads and exams! all the best! after that, try and be the next synyster gates! haha!

  • thanks man, this is the best feedback i've had thus far

  • Hey Thanks man. I just started trying to attempt to playthe guitar and that helped a lot. Can't wait to view your other videos!

  • get a life zagiel6

  • yawns

  • that's not a yamaha you liar

  • um... yeah it is smart one, you can see their symbol/trademark on the head stock

  • it clearly says taylor you dolt

  • hahaha. WOW. "clearly", huh? lol, dolt?

yeah anyways, you "clearly" dont know much about guitars because yamaha's fameous symbol is on the headstock, genious get a clue.

  • holy shit you're a fucking idiot.

it clearly says that it's a martin stratocaster.

    go back to school child.

  • ok so now its a MARTIN? are you on crack? you know i dont even know what to say to that comment because its so stupid. go back to school? what does that have to do with any of this? you know what man, you win. i've learned not to argue with idiots cuz they'll just bring you down to their level and beat you with experience. and you my friend are an expierenced idiot.

  • i ate spaghetti for dinner

  • my acoustic is also yamaha hehe

  • boring teacher
