  • so i followed this setup and when i fly on the sim my positive pitch is much less than my negative pitch...??? i don't know why. any tips? maybe i set up the pitch curve incorrect?

  • @Tarzan07330 what pitch curve have you set up? try a default straight line to check, remember you can alter pitch settings in the sim too, check if these are correct.

  • @GaryGraham66 norm: pos L-40% 2-45% 3-50% 4-75% H-100% stunt: pos L-0% 2-25% 3-50% 4-75% H-100%

but on the sim since it wasn't working i just went ahead and clicked the stock dx6i setup, cuz i'm a noob and just wanted to fly. haha. so idk if it changed anything on my tx or what. but i originally followed this set up exactly. or so i thought

  • @Tarzan07330 your pitch settings are spot on, make sure they are default BEFORE you calibrate with sim (c:

  • @GaryGraham66 ok. thanks. i'll have to give it another shot

  • My helicopter make / model is not listed in the Phoenix v3i sim manual.

Can I still set up the sim and radio to replicate this chopper? (once I'm able to understand all the technical jargon) I have just bought this with the Spectrum DX 6i radio.

My helicopter is the SH X4 series.

  • @Boeriemore Hi mate, all helicopters behave more or less the same so you can use a similar size sim heli to replicate yours, you can edit the model to have the same weight etc as your heli and it should behave just the same on the sim.

  • @GaryGraham66 Thanks. I will look for a heli with same weight and size as suggested.

  • Huge thanks for the video walkthough. VERY helpful. Just bought a Blade 450 and Blade MCP X and need to practice A LOT before flying even the MCP X. Phoenix was terrible with new model default settings before I put in your settings. Now it flys pretty good. I hope these heli's are not this hard to hover in real life my god what did I get myself into LOL

  • @sambuka0 the sim is about 5x easier to hover then in real life. Great system though. if you fly online let me know, id be happy to fly with some people. as for that blade 450, id take it back if you can, until your ready for it.

  • @CBRRiderr Yeah I can imagine its so much more difficult than the sim. The great thing about the sim is learning that muscle memory. After first flying in the sim last night I couldn't hover to save myself, now I got it down pat tiny slight movements and holding a tight hover, and now teaching myself front in flying and hovering. Got the B450 for the DX6i happy to not fly the big fella till I got the muscle memory trained at least.

  • Not sure on the new esky transmitters but the old ones had little switches in the battery compartment you could switch to disable ccpm, there is a transmitter set up for esky transmitters in the sim so you should be fine.

  • i just got my first collective pitch heli for xmas. i got a belt cpx that comes with an esky et6i tx. i saw that i have to disable ccpm to use a sim. is that true? i just ordered the phoenix sim

  • Hey Gary!

You are the man. Im new to the RC world. I figured I could just hook the dx6i up and calibrate it and be good. Super NOT. But since Im was a noob I thought the poor handling was just me flying bad. Your video helped me alot. Now heli responds much better. Im still a noob but now I can move forward with good profile and more confidence.

    BIG THANKS !!!!!

  • Hi Gary, Should I leave the settings for the Gyro at 0% and 100% or do I change them back to 50% and 50% after I calibrate? What should my rate and HH % be set to when using the Sim 0% and 100% does not seem right to me? If that is the correct setting I guess it is only for Phoenix please explain? I know you would not use either of those settings on a real heli would you?

  • whats TX?? and how do you turn it off?

  • @smokypenguin420 Hi mate TX just stands for transmitter (c:

  • Thanks a lot!

  • How do u conect ure controller to ure pc?

Sumthing that u can only get with this software?

  • @CulturalMyths Hi, You can either buy the original software which comes with the usb lead or buy the not original software from hobbyking (c;

  • @CulturalMyths You'll need a usb adaptor, google the following: "USB Flight Sim Module Cable for JR"

  • Can you link me to the cable I need to make this work?

  • @razorseal check out hobbyking.co m they have them and they work great (c:

  • I`ve got this problem: Weather: stormy has lock on permanently in landing crash. Can`t access weather specs. Changeing plane or field does not help.

    Can you help, Please

    Anders is asking

  • Thanks!

  • is it the same for the planes on the sim

  • @MrDirtMadd Yeah mate set up as a heli and the software allows the planes to be used with the same settings, although channel 6 (pitch) is lost for plane functions. Do the same set up with the tx set up for planes and you will gain a channel for smoke, gear etc. (c:

  • @GaryGraham66 how do you do that (tx) setup for smoke and gear?

  • where did you get a correct cable?

  • @TheThh I got the cable with the phoenix software (you can get pirate versions from hobby king (c; )

  • Why do you do 125 on the throw?

  • @MinnesotaAlexander it allows the program to see the complete range of movement and give better resolution for the controller.

  • should show more of the paddle control of the joysticks, its all good to see and show others

  • @GaryGraham66

Thanks for the quick reply Gary. I set up a default heli in memory 10 and did alter to single 90 degree servo. Do you think a better starting point would be to copy the built in Blade setup and just alter the servo setting? I'm a little disappointed that I have not been able to simply plug in the Spektrum and replicate the real model after a quick calibration. Does Phoenix v3 do a good job at accurately replicating the real RC models, once it's set up properly?

  • @CycleHikeandSki Hi, yeah phoenix is very accurate at modeling the physics of the heli's etc.

Use model 10 and then copy the settings you have for the blade to the sim model, try setting the dual rates to 60% on the sim and see if that makes it better.

Also set the travel adjust to max for the sim then recalibrate, this gives a more accurate response.

  • @GaryGraham66

I'll give that a go. There are plenty of YT videos of the Blade 400 flying very nicely on the simulator, so perhaps I was being a little naive to think that I could just plug in and be off. Thanks for the help Gary, it's much appreciated. Add another subscriber to your list mate.

  • @CycleHikeandSki Glad to help, any time mate.

  • Hi!

THX for your Tipp, now my DX6i dsmx work pretty nice with the Phoenix Sim.

But i don't now how i set my dx6i so that i can activate a Switch to go 3D.

In Inverted i got no Power and the heli will sink slowly to the Ground!? Can you help me please?

I have about 75h practice with Helis in Phoenix 3.0r and in Real with FP Helis ( Blade MSR + 120SR about 12h and it works

    very good.

Now i think its Time for me to go on a higher Level and by a CP Heli like the Blade SR or the Blade 450?

    Sor

  • @umpalumpa73 Hi, set the flight mode switch position 1 so you have a pitch curve of 0 25 50 75 100 and a throttle curve of 100 90 80 90 100. then switch the flt mod switch and you will be able to fly inverted (c:

  • I bought the Blade 400/DX6i package, but I cannot get the Phoenix Simulator Blade 400 to fly anything even close to the real model. For example, even though the software sliders centre and move perfectly with the transmitter stick movements, the simulated model rotors go from zero rpm to max rpm at about half stick, there is no rotor speed control whatsoever, so the simulated Blade takes off like a ballistic missile. Any advice you or your viewers have would be appreciated. 3D mode is off.

  • @CycleHikeandSki Hi, are you flying the sim on the blade 400 model on the tx?

Try setting up a new model on the transmitter for the sim, the default settings will be fine, then you can adjust the pitch and throttle curves for the sim the same as the Blade. The sim needs 90degree single servo and the blade uses 120degree servo mixing, this is probably the cause of your problem.

    Gary

  • Hey great vid but ive seem to hit a problem, it keeps telling me to connect my TX. i had bought a new sim cable, it keeps flashing when i connect it.. someone help :(

  • @MrAndyhyper Hi, you must have bought a usb cable, the proper cable does not flash.

The phoenix sim will only work with the phoenix cable, it's the copy protection.

  • @GaryGraham66 ahh okay, thanks for the help mate :)

  • thanks :)

  • can i fly with this settings airplanes?

  • @Chrisrelax13 Hi! yeah use the setup for helicopters and it automatically sets for planes, ecept you wont need idle up (c:

  • @Chrisrelax13 Hi! yeah use the setup for helicopters and it automatically sets for planes, except you wont need idle up (c:

  • my problem is if I fly with CP helicopters like t-rex or cp or something on 1/4 throotle starts spinning and immediatly reaches the max rpm. so it is not continous. I have checked curves on tx and also in game and its good. pls help, and sry for my bad english

  • @leves555 sorry for delay in answering, try re calibrating the tx with normal throttle curves, once done then adjust curves to suit. (c:

  • can i use any cable with the Tx to connect it to the PC and use it in Phoenix or do i have to use their cable?

    thx

  • @johhny303 Hi you have to use their cable mate \c: well worth it though.

  • MODE 2 ALL THE WAY !!! AND NICE JOB ON THE VIDEO THANKING YOU LOTS !!! .. Noel - NSW-AUSTRALIA ps; i had to switch over my DX6i to mode 2 .. there are NO MODE 2 in Australia sold standard.. PMSL !!!! Good country but bloody backwards... :(

  • @mxhardcore1 LOL hey glad to help mate. (c:

  • Question: I have an Australian DX6i and the throttle is on the RIGHT, do I need to setup anything different to this? Raven

  • @Ravennsw75 nope set up as normal and then do the calibration in the sim, throttle on the right is mode 1, set the sim to that and all will be fine (c:

  • how do i setup the idle up switch? cause mine dont work. thanks

  • @carlocivicsi sorry for delay, adjust throttle and pitch curves on the tx for flight mode 1 to

    throttle 100 90 80 90 100 and pitch to 0 25 50 75 100 (c:

  • Thanks Gary you have helped me sooooo much setting up my dx6i. Everything is working great. Thanks again for all the help!

  • cheers Gary i did have a look but i couldn't see any where to change it it only gives you multi blade option

  • Gary just on question as you seem to be the man to ask . i don.t no if you have tryed flying the Huey on Phoenix but it flys really easy and the question was is this what you get out of an expensive gyro which makes if fly more like a 4 ch than a 6ch ?

  • @davestynes the scale helis have rate gyros and will fly easier in forward flight (you don't need to use rudder as much) try editing the huey and changing the gyro to heading hold, then you can switch between modes and see ho it flies.

Expensive gyros only work with fast expensive tail servos (c:

Unless you are doing 3D you won't notice the difference.

  • Thanks for taking the time Gary top fella top marks

  • The master of the DX6i has done it again ;-) nice one Gary = thumbs up.
