Olympia deserved it, but I wouldn't have minded Anne Ramsey getting it before she died. Though I'm guessing in her case just being nominated was a nice way to go out.
Just watched Moonstruck with my friend who never saw it..I loved her performance so much..she is one ot my faves..also loved her in Steel Magnolias. So happy she won!
Michael is her cousin, not her brother, and he didn't stand a chance in 1988 anyway. The Reagan revolution was still going strong and it wouldn't have mattered who the democrats nominated to run against then Vice-President Bush in the election that year, he still would have won.

a very silly oscar moment at the end when she said that comment about her brother Michael Dukakis who was running for President. On the night it was obvious that Cher was going to win Best Actress over Glenn in Fatal Attraction, especially after the academy favored Olympia over Anne Archer of fatal Attraction. A better winner would have been Ann Sothern
@fercaut2 Sólo tiene una nominación como actriz. El Oscar que "ganó" es el que dieron a "La Historia Oficial" en la categoría de mejor película extranjera, pero ella no fue nominada por su papel.
@NJNupe1911 No matter how many times I watch the film, Mrs Lift makes me laugh my ass off. "Holy shit!! What a dream I was having! Louis Armstrong was trying to kill me!!" Best line EVER.
thank U so so sooooooo muuuch! I was waiting for this video and I just wanna thank you!!! I perfectly remember this moment in the ceremony at 1988 and I was only 7 years old :D:D:D thank U again!!!

@contact1araya Yes, his brother and former governor Michael Dukakis. At that time, he was campaigned for the 1988 elections

"Okay, Michael, let's go!"
This was a shout out to her cousin, Michael Dukakis, who ran for President that year against George H.W. Bush.

@Beale64 And it's too bad that the Bush team ran a big smear campaign against Michael in order to win the White House!
