  • 3dsmaxHowTos can i use this to make animations for UDK (unreal development kit) ?

  • @Danuxsy absolutely! UDK is compatible with the FBX format and fbx animation data. So once you brought in the character from 3ds Max into MB, characterized it, animated it, plotted the animation as FK onto the skeleton and saved your fbx file in the process, you can use that fbx file to import the animation and/or the character into UDK.

  • @3dsMaxHowTos nice, thank you for the nice answer :D

  • Thank you so much!! Me and my friend have been wanting to do animations and we have a simple tracking studio set up and now that you taught me how to do this we can put it all together!!!!

  • @GECKmaster Sounds great :).

    Good luck to you both.

  • @3dsMaxHowTos I have one question though. How would i turn a bvh into a skeleton?

  • @GECKmaster When you import a bvh file into Motionbuilder, you should be able to see its skeleton. Make sure you're in XRay mode (Ctrl+A) and you're zoomed out sufficiently (A), and you should be able to see the skeleton. From there, you can use retargeting to set that motion on whatever character you have in your scene.
