  • @MrShutUppp Too bad your mom is a lesbian

  • -3-3-3-3-3 one of my Favs!!!!

  • Bay Watch!!!

  • this song is just plain cool

  • Great song, great tune. Soooo sexy.

  • Loved this song when it first came out

  • Come to think of it, this could have influenced "In the Air Tonight!"

  • Great song... I thought this was ahead of it's time.

  • @doo192002 by the way its lemoncrime from my radical account

  • @doo192002 but doo listen to the rhythm!!

  • I was born in 84'.My brother and sister use to make fun of me for liking this song when i was a kid,and still do. I thought it was great then and still.

  • Does anyone also find it similar to Sad But True from Metallica?

  • @enriconunes no

  • Had to be born in the sixties and found this guy to be sexy as hell in the seventies.

  • Top tune. I didn't know he'd written it himself.

  • how the fuck can ppl not like this? i dont fucking get it

  • @lemoncrime are you serious man wow all it talks about chicks in blue jeans back then they saw chicks in jeans with hot ass and rocked the era of the 70s....

  • @lemoncrime they be the age dumb ass fags who don;t know good tunes

  • I read an article that John Lennon after watching David Essex perform this number, went up to him after the show to congratulate him! Wow, what an honour!

  • i think i'm a little young for the song, like it is not in my era, but i still love.... and go tell your mom she needs a husband and not to be a hoe

  • @Swiftchange1 your dumb, doesn't matter your "era" what music you listen to, it's what ever you like..

  • @AkMashhP What an asshole you are. Call a kid dumb because they mention they are from an entirely different generation than 40 years ago?

I'd be proud if I was from the generations that hate books, hate any thing other than what their friends think is cool, and still had the brains and good taste to be into good music they probably have to look a lot harder for to listen to than we do. STFU.

  • When I was in college about this time, there was a basketball player named James Dean. When he would score, the PA announcer would say his name: "James Dean..." and the crowd would then emulate the voice in this song that comes in: "Jaaames Dean...." This song always brings back that funny memory.

  • @LetsRideMen GOLD!!!

  • Not sure what he's doing with the mikestand.

  • @doorsfan58 Gettin down?

  • Alway`s loved this song. Also as a huge Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins fan this song realy pre dates the sound they would be doing in their collective 80`s stuff. Kinda the same sound and style music. Love it!

  • Going to hit somebody with that microphone stand David...

  • And the young girls fancy that Bieber kid? What is wrong with them!

  • Wish I would have!

  • My mom fancies the pants of this guy.. -___-

  • If you ask who did this song and hummed it to them ( blue jean baby queen, prettiest girl I ever seen etc etc ) 95 out of 100 would not know the artist's name. I have won many upon many beers and money at various places on this trivia question. People have heard the song as they were growing up, but do not remember the artist's ( EVEN D.J.s on the radio!!!) I came up with this Trivia, it works all the time.....Just remember DAVID ESSEX......rest my case.

  • aww...he's so yummy....just been to see him in All the Fun of the Fair...reliving my youth! Thank you

  • my mom slept with his mom.

  • J DILLA!

  • RIP JAMES DEAN SEP 30TH !!

  • James Dean.....

  • I was a senior in 1974 when I first heard this song, however my baby brother was 11 and was fascinated with this song, oh that bass riff drumming, percussion, violin, and of coarse vocals "ROCK ON".

  • The bad quality almost makes it trippier. XP

  • thats so hot and thats 4 ever

  • This will be the ONLY version of this song that will "Rock On" no matter how many times Michael Damian records it.

  • The only reason i know this exists is because of Rob Zombie. Great song though.

  • Rock the fuck on!

  • Where is David essex from?

  • @MoPar7055 london

  • And where do we go from here? Which is the way that's clear?

  • Better than Michael Damian's version in 1989. You can't touch the authenticity of the original. You just can't!

  • The amazing thing about this record is since there is no discernible kick/snare rhythm groove, you can't pin it down to any one rock era. It continues to sound incredibly timeless. Great song - thanks for posting.

  • If as a man you had to pick any bloke to look like it'd have to be David Essex no problem.Just imagine the fun you could have with the ladies even without being famous - life would be a non-stop party!

  • how is this regarded as music?

  • @Deangelatla How would it not be?

  • sexiest man of the 70s and that's from a straight man.

  • John Lennon told David Essex after the performance how much he enjoyed the song!

  • my mom has slept with him.... no joke

  • @MrShutUppp WHO HASN'T YOUR MOM SLEPT WITH!?!?!?!

  • @7markosmezza7

    Hahahaha brilliant

  • @7markosmezza7 *zing*

  • @MrShutUppp So did an old friend of mine. Methinks David is a bit of a slut, LOL.

  • @MrShutUppp I've slept with your mom too.

  • @MrShutUppp Who's mum hasn't

  • @MrShutUppp thanks for sharing! :) hahaha

  • I hated the 70's and remember this song on the radio. now i need some prozac.

  • Rock On was in the British charts September 1973, peaking at no.3. Remember it well as I was on a school Mediteranean cruise at the time. Have double checked on Wik. and in Guinness book of charts. It was held off the no.1 spot by Donny Osmond "Young Love" at no.1, and Wizzard with "Angel Fingers" at no.2.

  • This song was definetely inspired by The People's Court.

  • Careful, Dave - you'll have someone's eye out with that. The mikestand, that is

  • He sounds just like Lenny Kravitz, the same way Anastacia sounds like Taylor Dayne...I guess not every voice is unique. Will it be the same with fingerprints?

  • best son g eva

  • My favorite part is when it says James Dean

  • @MrClover17 I think that's everyone's favorite part.

    =)

  • I remember sitting watching it for the first time on Top of the Pops....it's was love at first sight xx

  • Rock On!! Still am what can I say...

  • the 4 people that disliked this, later suffered from what is commenly reffered to as 'been-hit-with-a-shovel' syndrome and they got thier heads pissed on by 12 giraffes... you have been warned

  • This song defies genre ,it has elements of rock , jazz and soul that make it a fusion that is unique ,honestly nothing he wrote again ever compared to this song .Its a one of a kind

  • Man, I played this 45 rpm record single over and over again when this came out. Cool song. It was his only major hit in the US but at least it was a good one. It has a sultry sound to it...what is the proper term for that song opening sound? As a kid it was a turn-on; I didn't know what David looked like but I imagined he looked good singing like this, lol.

  • @Hejtykke123ful nice spelling fuckhead

  • One of the first songs that blew my mind. Then again in 1974 hearing trippy stereophonic effects, I never could get enough of this song...

  • @Hejtykke123ful because this song is about fucking

  • What a honey he was.

  • @Tamee40 Don't get your panties creamed cause of he's a honey lol

  • The background music such as the strings, the bass playing, and the brass section make this whole song also along with David.

  • All the girlies in my school LURVED on some David Essex.

  • Glam rock was the 70's..Bowie..Slade.Bolan..Sweet..Roxy M...etc...!
