K.. understandable, if your dog is badly matted, it should be shaved. More humane for the dog. The face is cute, but what's with the feet? They gave her poms, or bell bottoms, can't really tell in the vid. Best advice I could give, get the dog groomed every 6-8 weeks, and brush in between. Get a comb, a metal one, use it after you brush, And NO NYLON BRUSHES!!! Get a slicker brush. Go to the Petsmart/co and ask the grooming manager to show you how to brush and which brush to get.
Same thing happened to my shih tzu. I had her cut just like yours. It is very hard to keep the matts out when she is constantly going in the snow. I just put a little sweater on her now but I'm growing her out to a puppy cut.

I agree especially because I tried to grow my Bumbles hair long and had to brush everyday and that wasn't even enough! Their hair is so fine.

it's much better than being matted. Mat's actually hurt. Shih Tzu should be combed regularly/daily. She still looks cute!
