  • I have the same problem as muslefan. I plan to do a good cleaning thanks to this video and see if that helps.

  • Great video, Thanks for taking the time to share.

  • Can someone help me? I can't get the trigger system back in for the love of me.

  • nice video.why my sks only shoots single shots? like i have to pull the bolt every single time i shoot it.

  • i cant get the stock off of my sks i never shot it had it for 5 or 6 years had it hanging on the wall and decide to clean it so i watched your video got every thing but the stock off could you tell me what to do thank you

  • how often should the gas assembly be cleaned? is it ok to go long periods of time without cleaning the gas assembly parts? whenever i clean mine i dont like to mess with it.

  • I can not move my single shot switch down to make it semi auto. Any thoughts???

  • People are dangerous dumbass

  • Thanks so much for posting this video. After having my SKS for a year I have taken it apart with ease!!!!!

  • Just bought an SKS yesterday. Thanks for making this video series.

  • Not the specific rifle I was looking for, but this was helpful none-the-less. Thanks for the upload+commentary.

  • I'm going to have to watch it again in slow motion.

  • I like the s.k.s but it was not designed to be a semi auto riffle it was designed to be a machine gun full auto fire weapon.

  • @honda74941 I don't know where your getting your info, the sks was never designed to be a fully automatic rifle,if it had been, it wouldn't have been replaced by the ak47. The design was based off the PTRS-41 anti-tank rifle, which was also semi auto (not a machine gun). Also, with a capacity of only 10 rounds, the sks would have been a terrible fully auto gun, especially with the magazine not being detachable.

  • Thanks! I think you should know how to disassemble and look over your gun before firing it, and this did the trick. Thanks again!

  • Love this rifle

  • HEY QUICK QUESTION.... MY SKS STOCK WONT POP OUT..I GET ALLITLE BUDGE BUT ITS LIKE TO TIGHT OR SOMETING...

  • I forgot to mention, that I let the oil soak in for a period of time between coats. I purchased the products from Lowes. Any brand Linseed oil will do...and then i used Watco natural color Danish Oil. THAT stuff was a breeze to put on and really left a beautiful finish! Just follow the instructions on the container and you'll be good to go.

  • I used diesel fuel to clean the metal parts of my Yugo and it worked effortlessly. I sprayed Easy Off oven cleaner on the stock to strip it of cosmolene. Also worked fantastic. After it dried for a couple days..I coated it with two coats of linseed oil and 5 coats of Danish oil..let dry for three days...then sprayed with some Spar Urethane (satin), let it dry for two days...lightly sanded with 0000 steel wool and the stock looks GREAT! Very nice finish!

  • Thank you so much for your great video!! I followed your instructions to the tee..and the process was flawless. I just picked up a brand new one today..and this made it very easy to get ready to clean and get ready! Great job!

  • Still dont know if I want this or a mauser :/

  • i even tried to use a flat head screw driver and its fully stripped but i can't get the ugly wooden stock that came with it.

  • my stock is stuck any suggestions?

  • @shiro80 Same thing I got it field striped and my stock just wont get out

  • Great video thanks for posting, perfect description you should be a professional instructor if you aren't already!

  • Awesome video! I am working on cleaning the cosmoline off my SKS. I think the cosmoline is making it very difficult to seperate the stock. Thanks for the great tutorial!

  • GREAT JOB

  • Quick Tip: Cosmoline ( packing grease ) Breaks down with mineral turps, and evaporates off too.Old toothbrush to scrape out the heavy stuff :)

  • I just got my SKS in the mail. Its an old Chinese unused milsurp and it is bathed in thick oil for storage, barrel is full etc.

Should I COMPLETEY wipe this oil or grease layer off every single part before shooting? I use G96 on my other guns but they arent stored nearly as long as the SKS had to be so the oil is not as thick.

  • I was wondering, i ordered my SKS about a month ago, and i went and shot it twice, the second time i went and brought it shooting, i noticed that one side of the gas tube, the wood part, was open more so on one side then the other, almost as if it had been turned a little, and i had never disassembled the gun, i was wondering if this was a major problem or not, because it doesnt seem to be interfering with the operation of the gun, if you could get back to me this would be really helpful! thanks

  • @xXxDarkNexusxXx Hiya, shouldnt make any difference.I think the wood covering the gas tube is more a protective shield for the operator. We banged 60 odd rounds through mine yesterday in quick time ( Only got a five round mag for NZ ) and that tube gets damn hot!It has taken about a hundred round for mine to bed in,now it runs sweet!

  • @saltydog45 , ok, cool thanks man, just making sure

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks man, very nice job by the way.. Now I have my Sks, Sig P229, 12 gauge, .357 mag, and colt mk4 series 80 ready to go for tomorrow! Gonna be a good day. :)

  • so....any dangers in just leaving the cosmoline grease ON in the areas that are not getting primer salts/ powder on them? For instance, my new SKS, what if I dont take it out of the wooden stock? Clean it with the stock on etc.

  • @CanadianReich I left it on my stock. Not sure if it was the surplus old rounds I was using or the cosmoline (probably the cosmoline) but the smell was horrible while shooting. I also had a massive headache after. coincidence?? Maybe, maybe not. Either way Im going to get it all out of my stock now because the stock feels greasy all the time and smells like shit.

  • @battlefieldchris

     roger

  • Gas regulator?? I guess my sks doesnt have one is that possible? I have a russian sks 1953

  • @battlefieldchris I believe it is just the Yugo rifle that has the regulator, it is for the Grenade Launching mechanism, I was wondering the same thing with the same year rifle!

  • @308Sharpie Okay that makes sense. I was worried. I just bought it and was cleaning out all that crap from storage and thought I was missing parts. When I went to the range I was not sure if it was going to fire, but it did and its a sweet rifle. Love the 7.62X39 round and the price of it. Thanks for the reply!

  • @battlefieldchris I cannot find ammo in stores here, its popular but you need to order the ammo online, which sucks.

    No problem, happy to help

  • after cleaning, what spray did u use for the rifle?

  • This has to be the best video on the disassembly of this rifle. Great job man! you deserve each and every view

  • 7 people don't have an SKS to take apart

  • Got my sks for 100 bucs in 93 and have shot over 1800 rnds thru it. It has never jammed and other than running a patch thru the bore I never cleaned it.Its fairly accurate out to 250 yards but she aint no tack driver;)

  • Oh no, help! i just bought a used SKS norinco (chinese) and it shot great, now im cleaning it and the gas pistion seems to be seized in the gas tube. but the guns still cycles. should they all just slide out? Im thinking yes but im fairley new to tearing down guns (this is my 1st other then a winchester 37A 12G single shot) please help! :)

  • @hickmanjay ok, seems it was nearly seized :( worked it free tho. cant wait to go and shoot now, should be WAY smother! :) PS thankyou you SO much for these vids Elal757!

  • @fuckth3h035 Kero or mineral turps works great on any gun.It dissolves the packing grease, and one youve finished with any liquid left over, just pour it back into a bottle and let it settle.A week later you have clean liquid and all the crap settles to the bottom.I just bought a cheapass chinese sks. They arent the quality of the com bloc guns but they do the job.EVERYTHING had grease packed into it...f turps (it does slowly evaporate as well) and an old toothbrush and voila! Done in a half hour.

  • I liked when you putt your finger in the butt plate

  • How deep a routine cleaning should be if I were to use corrosive mil-surplus ammo. I tempted by those, but I would hate to take the whole thing apart every single time

  • For the price should I get corrosive ammo for less than non corrosive? (I am buying a Yugo sks as my first gun on my dads license)

  • thanks so much-smart use of filming from first person - easy as can be- thanks

  • Great video, I just bought a yugo SKS today so this was incredibly helpful!!!

  • I bought a yugo sks just like this one the other day. I didn't know about that trick with the kerosene it was very helpful in removing all that damn cosmoline that my out of the box sks was covered in thanks a lot...

  • Very helpful video. I bought my chinese SKS a week ago and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was in use in Vietnam. Now it's clean as a whistle. My gas tube is a real bitch to get out; all the other disassembly videos show them just popping out when the release lever is raised, but I have to pry mine out with a screwdriver. I think it's because it has an aftermarket stock.

  • Thank's for video, helpfull... LIKE

  • i have a choice between buying this and some ammo but have to clean all the cosmoline off and so much to take apart or an ak and no cosmoline with simple take down but wont have enough money to buy ammo for it to take it to the range. if anyone can respond and help me with the decission i would be more than greatfull. thanks

  • I'm new to rifles and such but want to get into it EXTREMELY bad, tell me, what model is this?

I know my grandfather has an World War II S.K.S and it's in mint condition and looks great!

    Thanks :)

  • @hager999 the model shown here is a Yugoslavian SKS, identifiable thanks to the muzzle grenade launcher, and lack of chrome lining in the barrel

  • @DinoHunter2 Okay, thanks a lot, I appreciate it!

  • guns ARE NOT dangerous. The shooter is dangerous. Unless he knows what he is doing

  • This is going to sound stupid, but how can you tell if the barrel is chrome lined or not?

I know that 59/66s manufactured before 1970 did not have chrome lined barrels. How would I tell a late production model from an earlier?

  • Personally my opinion is that an Marlin mod. 60 easier is to field strip. xD

  • Your advice worked fine! Thanks!!

  • I made a mistake when assembling my Norinco after its 1st cleaning: I put the gas assembly before reinstalling the operating rod and spring and now I can not get that blessed gas tube out. any advice?? Thanks! 71Valhalla1

  • @71Valhalla1 Tilt the gun so the muzzle is pointed down, this should shift the gas piston forward. If you need to bump the muzzle on something to jar it loose, or remove the bolt/carrier and stick a cleaning rod in where the operating rod goes and move the piston forward.

  • @71Valhalla1 I had the same problem, I used the straw from a "dust off" type can to push the piston down, you kinda have to jimmy it so it comes back off.

Elal757: Thank you so much for posting this, helped a ton

  • @71Valhalla1 not that my opinion may mean much, but I have found that if you clean the smaller gas tube opening with a .22 bore brush, and the bigger opening with a 45 brush, both soaked in carbon solvent, it makes the gas piston slide in and out much easier.

  • never use a bullet tip. someone in the us army used a 50 cal round to do something on a 50 machine gun and blew his hand of

  • @REAUME40000 I am familiar with the photo/story that you are referencing. According to the story, someone was hammering on the cartridge, which is a bad idea for an obvious reason - that's how the primer is activated. However, using the tip of a bullet to move levers has been a known technique taught to soldiers for many years.

  • @elal757 true, but all i can say is that i am in the army and once i saw that i said there is no way i am ever going to do that with any round

  • @REAUME40000 yeah. I saw the photo in the Marine barracks at Bridgeport CA, and I'm sure it's elsewhere, to warn people to not do that with the round!

  • @sketchbook1 ya it made its way to the canadian forces and i saw it at work.

  • just bought one. the gas piston is pitted in a couple places and i think the gas tube is also pitted somewhat. it was NOT clean when i got it home. :( also the "wavy" part of the bolt spring was rearward not inside the bolt carrier.

  • i saw this video a year or two ago and it was VERY helpful. Since then i have shot thousands of rounds through my norinco SKS and a i am able to thoroughly clean it. THANKS A BUNCH

  • nice video- can you do one showing how to do a routine cleaning of a yugo with a dragunov stock on it? Do you just take out the trigger group to get the bold group out or what? trying to figure it out....

  • Greetings,

I used my 1954 Tula Arsenal SKS (refurb) for the first time, yesterday. Your SKS disassembly and reassembly videos allowed me to learn how to disassemble and clean the rifle. Great effort, you helped me a lot. Take care......

  • my gas piston is really stiff in the gas tube, and i got to push it pretty herd to get the piston out the gas tube. but the rifle shoots fine with no jam. is that normal or is something wronge? because i thought the piston should be able to just slide out freely?

  • Thanks for posting this. Well made.

  • does metter which side you put recoil spring?

    Thank you

  • @miki1893

The "wavy" end goes inside the bolt carrier.

  • @elal757 The video was good, the best part is you stuck to the subject matter. Nobody wants to hear [ like so many others elaborate] how you went with your uncle last January and purchased your SKS and 500 rounds of ammo and waited two days to shoot it because it was raining. Again good job.

  • @miki1893 when puting the recoil spring the swigle end go's first; this is very imortant.... The wavy end gos into the bolt carrier first

  • what a good vid, ill need to give my sks a body soak down (it's russian right out of the bunker). this might sound stupid, but where can i get carasin or what evs?

  • At 43 seconds, that lever you flip up, mines not come'n up at all. Im BRAND new to guns, & iono if beat'n on it is the right thing to do, or if there's some lokc on it or somthin like that... If you could help, i'd appreciate it a lot, thanks.

  • @Kawika043 Jost rotate it from sideways-and-facing-forward to pointing up. If that doesn't work, give it some gun lubricant and put the gun on its side so it can get into the hole. Try again in a few mins or so.

  • i just got the chinese sks. this really any different?

  • @skaterjrd99 its a little diffrent, some sizes of the insides are diffrent but chinease can not turn off the gas, but it take a while to get use too, takes time

  • just got my sks and my gas piston has grease on it doesn't seem normal to me is this right or due you lube it it with gun oil???

  • @canfaller

The gas piston doesn't require lubrication, and should not have lubrication due to the fact that it will cause carbon fouling. The operating rod (the spring loaded rod behind the gas piston) should be lubed.

  • @elal757 ty i knew this wqas wrong im new to the sks world but not to firearms. this thing had axle grease packed into the piston and operating rod didnt think tis was normal. ty for you response

  • guns are not dangerous, people are.

  • Well I was able to get it with a mallet and rod, then I cleaned out the gas tube with water and soap, but the gas piston still gets stuck in the gas tube still so I don't know what the problem is! After I fire all 10 rounds, the action stays closed, it never use to do that, it use to always close! Also, my bolt does not rattle and as a result i have hang fires every once in awhile! Do you have any videos of bolt disassembly???

  • i have the grenade launcher to!!!i love the sks!! i own about 7!!!

  • My gas piston is stuck in my gas tube, how does one get it out?

  • @fitznig Why is it stuck? is the tube damaged? or is it just gunked up?

Try banging it out with a cleaning rod, or spraying a penetrating lubricant and letting it soak. But you should certainly try to figure out why it is stuck.

  • @fitznig i had the same proble i stuck a plasic paint brush in there hit the top with a hammer the piston came out enough wre i was able to grad it with some plyers and pull it out, i then soaked it in gun powder solvent

  • @fitznig ya mine was like that too after not cleaning it for a while. just gotta pop it out with cleaning rod as previously stated. make sure you are pushing on the smaller side of the piston. it won't come out the other side.

  • Well, I opted to be safe rather than possibly crack the stock trying to force it away from the metal. I cleaned off all the cosmoline from the metal parts with mineral spirits and alot of elbow grease and paper towels. I used Hoppes in the barrel with patches and brush. I figure the cosmoline laying between the stock and barrel will burn off after the first time I take it to the range. It would have been nice to have completed the removal of the stock, but this will suffice. - Mike

  • I recently purchased a M59 from Samco Global in "new condition," i.e. re-arsenaled (it has the 1.TRZ re-arsenal mark on the butt). Aside from the grenade launcher (which the M59 doesn't have) your instructions worked fine up until it came time to seperate the wooden stock from the metal. The S.O.B. is on tight as a drum and I can't get the pieces to separate. I suppose I could just clean the cosmoline from all the exposed surfaces and parts that I removed. Any suggestions? - Mike

  • I've always wanted an sks but after watching this video it looks like too much work for my lazy ass lol.

  • Hey man have u ever had any problems with the cleaning rod coming loose and falling out. I got rifles and the one doesnt even start to screw down but the other will if u monkey with it for a while and even then i dont think its in all that great.

  • @bigsillygooseforu

The cleaning rod is held in from the pressure of the bayonet in the closed or opened position.

  • great video...thanks

  • Thank you for this video, it told me exactly what I needed to know. I just got my Yugo SKS and I have never had a surp gun with so much cosmoline on it. I have to take everything apart and clean the shit out of it.

  • So up to 1:13 sec is that as far as you'd have to disassemble to do quick cleaning?

  • @dirtyminded604 No need to remove wood stock, trigger grouping. clean the piston, gas cylinder, bolt, bolt carrier, gas port and gas shutoff, and of course the bore and inside of the receiver for good measure.

  • Thanx man!

  • well presented!

  • Thanks I just ordered a 59 66 this morning now I know how to strip it.

  • i just bought an SKS today and your video was very helpful thanks alot. only problem was mine is Chinese so no gas regulator. keep looking for the thing lol

  • my bolt wont stay back on my tapco sks now,bit it did when i had on ny ati stock..help me any one

  • alex , clean the fireing pin . thats your problem.

  • Even when i have my the gas selector on semi auto it shoots like a bolt action.. whats wrong with it?

  • minral sperits cleaned the cos off my gun when i got my YUGO whoever had it before before me i got mine from a local gun dealer it had a tryangular firing pin witch later on popped out of the back of the bolt sis any of the sks rifles come with that type of firing pin?

  • I had never cleaned my SKS before and after watching this video I did it with ease.

    Thanks for the info

  • Thank you for the tips! very good video!!! HD

  • my operating rod will not come out. what should i do?

  • I had my sks out shooting the other day, and a weird thing happened. On two occasions when I pulled the trigger, it shot in a two to three round burst.

now I am thinking it is one of two things

    1. the way I pulled the trigger was that of a bump fire causing it to rapidly discharge a second and third time

    2. mechanical

if its the latter, can any of you with similar experience tell me what the hell it is causing it to run away on me

I think it was my trigger pull or at least I hope

  • @Alexn1067 Sounds like it very well may be a slam fire. See the above post, and see my other video about the firing pin. If the firing pin is heavily gummed up this may be the problem.

  • @elal757 I don't think that is the case, because the firing pin moves around freely and I make sure its clear of gunk and oil.

I really think that i was bump firing, but I am shooting it again tomorrow, so we will see.

I will take special care to not bump fire, but if it shoots in a burst again, I know its something mechanical.

  • @elal757 how do i get surface rust out of hard to reach areas?

  • @Alexn1067 ya, if you have any cosmoline left in the fireing pin, that could very well be the culprit

  • @Alexn1067

I had that problem with my sks. The problem turned out to be the previous owner tried to fire it with all the cosmoline still in the bolt, ended up bending the pin somehow.

The fix was i just took the pin out, and filed it down a little where it came into contact with the retaining pin. Seemed like it was bent up just so slightly that it was catching on that.

  • how do you get your reciever cover off

  • Dude this was great .... I had such a problem with the gas tube ... It made it so easy to do once I saw how you did it.

    thanks.

  • i've just watched your video, its very good, clean-cut and no BS. thank you for posting it. i am hoping you can anwser a question for me. i just got an SKS and i need to clean it as its coated in oil. what do you recommend i use to clean the oil off?

  • Just got a Russian sks last night, and boy its not easy to take apart, got to get use to it.

  • I love that gun so much. It was the first gun i ever fired. It was and is my friend's; a russian gun made in 1954. Needless to say, it was slightly louder than expected, as it was the first time i ever shot a gun and one of the first times i had heard a gun in person.

  • nice vid man! many thanks!

  • Great video. Thanks for making it. Helped me out a lot.

  • Do you oil the fireing pin?If not what do you oil?thinks

  • do you have to clean your sks even if you dont shoot corrosive ammo?

  • @shaolin564 yes if you don"t clean and oil your gun over time you will get wear on all the moving parts.even if you don"t use the gun over time the oil will dry out and when you fire it you have metal on metal.if you shoot berdin primed ammo(corrosive) you should always clean the gun after use.ive seen ak 47s that the bolt had to be removed with a block of wood and a hammer from lack of cleaning not good.

  • @bi79yt oh great!!! thanks!!!!!

  • Put up a vid of how to take the grenade launcher off!!!!!!!!

  • I love this gun it's one of the most accurate assult rifles I've ever shot!!! I have a foldable stock on mine I think it's origanaly owned by a russain but Its a cheap gun and verry reliable I give this gun five stars! P.s how do u put the fully auto kit in????? Great vid

  • does it matter which way the bolt spring goes into the carrier

  • Super Video..I took mine about in few minutes..thanks again.A+

  • 59th

To remove cosmoline either use white clean kerosene or gasoline- let it soak, and then you'll still have to brush off the small parts with a nylon tooth brush. takes time, but it all has to go. MOGAS is the traditional gasoline used to disolve "cosmo" but all that is is just low grade gasoline.

    Good Luck! :)

  • Excellent video. Very concise and useful information, especially cosmoline removal tips. Well done sir.

  • can you take off the rifle gernade sight?

  • Great video. Succinct, moved along well, decent quality video. Could have used a few more shots with closeups, but that would be a production. So kerosene for cosmoline. Can you just use Dawn? And linseed oil for wood. What was the other oil for the metal parts? Rim oil?

  • Remington gun oil is the actual name. Hoppes is another good gun oil. The Stock and piston chamber cover are both wood. The linseed oil will keep the wood from drying out too much and possibly cracking.

  • Great video. I also now realize why my SKS requires me to manually cycle the bolt every time.

  • i just bought a yugo sks from a gun n knife show. its my first sks, my intention was to buy a mosin nagant m44. the sks looks very clean all over. the inside of the barrel is very clean and flawless. i took off the receiver cover and removed the recoil spring. it all looked clean inside and in the chamber. do i need to break it down (removing bolt, bolt carrier and entire gas tube assembly) and check further or shud it be ok?

  • Whats wrong with buying the chinese version I actually think its a better choice -for starters it has a chromed lined barrel and most of them are mil-surp which makes them a bit more collectible other than that its a good rifle all around and whichever you choose to get if you do routine maintenance you will have tons of fun shooting.

  • I just got done taking down my Russian SKS for the first time. Thankfully, you were there the whole time (the laptop was on my workbench). My 1953 SKS is in excellent condition but the gas tube and piston were pretty dirty. Everything is nice and clean now and I'm going to try to get out and shoot it next week. Thanks again.

  • whats cosmoline and why is it on there?

  • cosmoline is a very gunky yellowish grease that protects all finishes on the gun and does its purpose well. You have to take it out because it is annoying and can screw with the workings of the firing pin and other parts in the firearm.

  • oh cool thanks im new to all this stuff

  • Good informative video 5 *****

  • Hey guys. I am not proficient with guns. I am wanting to buy an SKS for myself and Im wondering which brand or whatever you guys think is best. I want to do mods to it after I get it so thats important. Any recomendations?

  • @Perilcrown Buy russian, there are lots of aftermarket crap to put on it like camo and rails but I like it stock!

  • @Perilcrown

I have a Russian version and I like it. I've heard nothing but good things about the yougoslavian version to. Dont get the Chinese version.

The SKS is an excellent rifle for beginners with semi-autos. If you are really new with guns I suggest you go get a bolt action to begin with.

  • Great video, I just purchased a Romanian SKS, and I don't think it was ever cleaned except for the barrel. The inside looked like charcoal. Thanks for the great help!

  • i know what the brush is for and i know that the small pin is used to disassemble the rifle, but what is the 3rd thing in the cleaning kit for

  • im thinking abought bying one and was just wondering how often i should take the gas tube out and everything els that u sayed to clean it because all my other guns i dont have the gas chamber and piston

  • In my personal experience clean it every time you use it. Gas tube and all. It'll run just fine even if you don't, but pretty much with all firearms, it's best to clean them the same day you used them.

  • good detailed disassembly

  • For 2 brand-new/never issued M1959/66A1's, I used Simple Green, hot water, several types of stiff (non-metallic) brushes for cleaning all the gunk and cosmoline off, then Break-Free lubricant for re-assembly. Soak all parts, including stock in Simple Green for 10-15 minutes, scrub parts and stock, then rinse off with warm/hot water. Dry ALL metal parts while still warm and lub lightly. Set aside/ dry stock. Re-assemble. Works better if you have air-compressor handy to blow out water, etc..

  • you didnt really say anything about the free floating firing pin

  • i have an sks m59. how do i clean out the free firing pin without fucking up the inside and getting slam fires.

pardon my language but slam fires are my worst night mare

  • See my video "SKS bolt disassembly"

  • how exactly do i clean out the gunk and cosmoline of the free floating firing pin

  • @elal757 Hi I have a Yugo SKS M59 66 A1. what do you use to clean out the gas block? I have just bean pooring solvant down it letting it come out the barrel and then spraying it with oil. I can't find any small brushes that will fit in the gas block and I don't want it to rust out.

  • Thanks man, I just bought a Norinco with ATI folding stock, never own an SKS before I have shot them but not had to clean it, I ususaly break my weapons down once a week and now I know how much appreciated!

  • will a 30 round clip work for the china made sks?

  • Grenade shot is cool!

In Vietnam they shot down Mekong river to get fish ! and team like 10 sks shoot grenades will keep 100 marines US stay where u are...little B-52 to go! 150-200 yards defense in that distances....it can direct shoot grenades to BBQ the M-113 soft aluminum! . Shit USA made M-113 gave to ARVN burn to easy or M-44 with 7.62x54R can shoot thru to kill 4 tankers inside EASY! That's why South VN lost! to PT-76 or T-54,55 over power M-41,47,48!!! "king of battlefield"! .SHIT!

  • too many parts! can not remember which out/in in order man...Just clean bore and wd-40 and wipe off.

-in Vietnam they never clean and work every time, USA more work, more lost parts so you can destroy your gun that way!!

-By the way! I, my finger got stuck in the hole of the butt stock! (mother luck Me).kkkk hurt like some body kick to to the nuts!.....

    - VC,they just oil the kits come with each gun and that's all!!! if their gun go bad, just go pick up from his dead comrades! (MAO'S style)

  • thanks bubba... I just got a new SKS and was worried about the upkeep.

Question: is it illegal to have the bannana clip on the sks now??? and to modify the butt?

  • No, not illegal to have extended mags atleast not at the Federal level. There are, in some places, local ordinances that restrict them to certain capacities or not at all. The county I live in years ago restricted banana clips for all calibers. That has long been expired, thankfully.

You will need to check local county and city regs. Other than that you are good to go on the mags and the stock mod.

  • micmanis... cosmoline is a protective grease barrier applied at the end of the manufacturing stage to protect the metallic parts of a firearm during long term strorage. excellent video, appreciated the safety instructions

  • Thanks for the vid ela757. Brought a new norinco sks a few days ago, stll in grease. After watching your informative video I was able to strip it and reassemble it in a matter of minutes, althought cleaning off all the grease and re - oiling took me almost 2 hours.

Many thanks - Ricky, New zealand.
