  • For those who believe, no proof is necessary. For those who don't believe, no proof is sufficient.

  • Nobody knows for sure do we? Really for sure now..there is always a little tinsy element of doubt and that is why faith is wonderful. You must believe what you wish in order to be an authentic person. This of course has nothing to do with reality , as perception is not objective.

  • its a good thing you replayed it 3 times, i wouldn't have got the joke otherwise..

  • noone laughs.

  • Regarding the "big bang"; if the chemicals came from nowhere and all of a sudden exploded to create the big bang phenomenon, where did the chemicals come from if nothing existed? Can anyone explain it in a natural way or was it done supernaturally? Just a question, you don't have to be mean in answering.

  • @squatchy760 Well there wasn't really a 'nothing'.

What the theory says is that the universe started out as a singularity (same as the core of a black hole), then a quantum uncertainty created massive energy fluctuations that caused a Big Bang, from which negative and positive energy and matter emerged and was forced outwards by the explosion, hence the expanding universe.

I hope this answered your question. :]

  • @MitraXyde Thank you for trying to explain it but another question arises. There is nothing in the core of a black hole. Where does this energy come from? Where does the matter come from? There must be energy to make energy. Even scientists know this is a physical law. This theory goes against physical law so the obvious alternative is that God exists.

  • @squatchy760 Most of the black holes in our universe has been formed by very massive stars that have died and collapsed into singularities. The energy they contain may have come from the collapse. I know little about this, so I can't really explain.

Also, our current physical laws (except E=mc²) can't be applied because they don't support the existence of black holes, and no-one knows exactly how black holes work yet, so we haven't been able to rewrite the laws.

  • @MitraXyde We're talking about the physical world especially if a star collapsed causing the black hole. Physics don't change just because scientists can't explain them. Instead, they run away to these silly theories. Thank you for responding to me..I'm not arguing, just curious to see what people say.

  • @squatchy760 Sorry if im saying something you already knew.

A black hole does have something in its core, it isn't just noting. It is an incredible mass. A mass packed so tightly that it has the gravity of hundreds stars packed together in a space maybe not bigger than the base of a frying pan. The gravity becomes so enormous that it can pull entire solar systems in.

Well according to today's scientific theories at least. Its pretty hard examining a black hole :P

  • Gotta love British Humour ;")

  • HMMM...

  • awesome ricky :)

  • Religion Deserves NO respect! Great minds like Gervais Do.

  • finally a group of people that are sane and don't believe in religion!! i would believe in unicorns before God! i honestly think anyone that believes in got is just thick!

  • I feel safe when i see this the 1000 time

  • This was the stuff of leg end.

  • Heavy Metal is the best religion

  • @theJimgenie626 get outta of here emo

  • @osiris3yhn Emo's don't watch ricky gervais. There too busy stabbing themselves and raping small children! Plus, Emo's listen to death Metal

  • @Truthforfreedom1 ur just an absoloute idiot. God doesnt make u gay u chose to be gay so go suck ur dick cuz i know u enjoy dat shit

  • @TheeWounded nobody chooses to be gay you illiterate dumbass you are born that way. They can't help liking other men the same way WE can't help liking chicks. Personally i see homosexuality as a disability since it cancels out the purpose of nature which is to reproduce and continue that cycle. Maybe if you quit those video games and maybe do a little studying and critical thinking you would understand. AND i don't really expect you to understand this message either so it goes out for the rest..

  • @911adt OMD ur the illiterate person here, if u dont hvae a relgion ud understand the rules of nature and to say gay people are born that way basically proves evoloution wrong as they would have defo died out, meaning they are defo born with the fucking choice to be gay or not

  • @TheeWounded it doesn't prove evolution is wrong you dumbass, it proves that mistakes happen just like in a factory. if everything was made by "god" then every human would be perfect. that's all i got for you since my head is hurting from trying to understand your grammar....let me ask you, if i told you to change your taste from liking girls, to guy could you do it?

  • @911adt yh, i just choose not to, COZ WE ALL HAVE THE CHOICE. look at it this way, its just the way you are raised, for instance, me i was born into a proper strict muslim family where since i was a kid ive been told gays are just wrong and filth so i dont like gays and im not gay. however gays are that way coz there family is leniant and doesnt really care then they just make the wrong choice of becoming gay. thats all

  • @TheeWounded "proper" muslim family? really? let me remind you something you said a while back "ur just an absoloute idiot. God doesnt make u gay u chose to be gay so go suck ur dick cuz i know u enjoy dat shit" do you recall that? what a family of fucktards you must have came from..your ignorance level and your understanding in biology is just fucking preposterous. and once again..NOBODY CAN CHOOSE THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION!! GO GET EDUCATED BY SOMETHING OTHER THAN A BIBLE!!!

  • @911adt do i give a fuck, all im saying is gays are wrong and they DO FUCKING CHOOSE THERE SEXUAL ORIENTATION KNOB HEAD

  • @TheeWounded hahahahah you are fucking moron if you believe a word of what your saying, maybe try to think for yourself instead of just accepting the ignorant views of your parents.

  • @TheeWounded wow you're a fucking dumbass lol get an education you religious dick face, oh, and FUCK YOUR RELIGION. im assuming you're not an adult because if you were you'd be a fucking dumbass, don't worry you'll get educated soon i hope. ...ignorant piece of shit..

  • @911adt Y cant u be the ignorant one in this convo? FUCKING RETARD

  • @TheeWounded because im obviously fucking not...

  • @TheeWounded You can yell and scream and piss and moan all you want, its not going to make you right, people dont listen to moronic bigots, they listen to scientists and people who study what they are talking about, and they disagree with you, so sorry buddy, you're shit out of luck

  • @iseezapie I'm convinced scientists are pretty stupid & prejudicial where creation is concerned. I was in the Jerusalem Museum a few weeks ago and saw skeleton of animals that were "250 million years old". The skeletons today of those animals look exactly the same. God exists. God loves. God is perfect and holy and people say there is no God because they don't want to be accountable for the evil that festers inside of them.

  • @squatchy760 God is perfect? So why did he create humans who would betray him? Why did he allow a talking snake to enter the garden? Why did he allow wars to happen? Why does he allow starvation of children in Africa, India and other impoverished countries? Why does he allow cancer, and other nasty diseases to exist?

He works in 'mysterious' ways right?

    Fuck off.

I say there is no god because it's delusional not because I don't 'want to be accountable for the evil that festers inside of me.'

  • @cfc19900 God created us without disease & war. He made us perfect & free in every way including our will. Just like I want my children to choose to love me. God is a gentleman, He doesn't force anything on anyone. We blew it in the garden because we simply wanted our own way and chose "self" not Him. That is where all this mess in the world came from; sin. God loves you and He thinks of you continually. He loves us despite ourselves.

  • @squatchy760 If the imaginary man in the sky made us 'perfect' then why do we die from diseases? Aren't we perfect? A little disease shouldn't stop us. You're deluded, sorry to break it to you but you're not going to heaven either, you people are scared of dying and made up this nonsense of the 'after life' to comfort yourselves. Sad.

  • @cfc19900 Disease is the result of sin. Have you ever lied? Stolen? Lusted? Hated? Well, I have & that is the reason we have war, disease & starvation. We fell from grace in the garden. We were created to live in a glorious garden, problem free but we blew it. God didn't. I am not afraid to die because I am 100%, without a doubt saved through He who died and rose again.

  • @squatchy760 You also forgot to mention that pigs fly.

  • @cfc19900 wow, you're angry. You need a hug.

  • @squatchy760 Wow you're lonley. You need a life. You seriously went back to comments from TWO WEEKS AGO??? After I made you look stupid? Please leave me alone now before I embarrass you more.

  • @cfc19900 Your comments weren't noticed when you wrote them so rather than be rude, I answered them. You obviously need a hug.

  • @squatchy760 the book says so, so it's probably right

  • @holgerwich It's historically accurate which makes it right. :)

  • @squatchy760 Voldemort?

  • @squatchy760

Wow, that god guy sounds like a pretentious douche. So what a guy ate a fucking apple, god didn't have the throw his little pissy fit. How dare we want our own way, we should all conform to him.

  • @HascalsToxin Who said anything about an apple?

  • @911adt If gays were natural they would be able to have children together. Just Throwing that one out there

  • @theJimgenie626 THATS WHY I CONSIDER IT A MENTAL DISABILITY YOU DUMBASS!! have you never seen a cripple in the streets or what the fuck are you stupid?? nature makes mistakes all the fucking time!! now if "god" was real then everything would be perfect...too bad he isn't

  • @theJimgenie626 Your stupidity may have just given me cancer

  • @TheeWounded how do you explain gay people who are disowned by their parents and family then?? That's not a leniant household, why do you think most gay people are afraid to tell their parents?? I know I could never just choose to start dating men, because I'm not attracted to men, you think gay people just decide they want to date men even though they aren't attracted to another man/woman.... that's the most idiotic thing I've ever heard, also how do you explain gay dogs, monkeys, etc.

  • @leafs3113 i said its the way he was raised, gays are raised with the choice of liking boys or girls, its just they choose the option of there preference of there own sex which to me is just disgusting

  • @TheeWounded no they aren't, and it would't matter even if the parents said you can't like men anyways because a gay person is born that way just like I was born and attracted to women.... and it's really stupid of you to say that because you haven't had the experience of being gay... that's why I don't make stupid assumptions like you because I can't say I know what it's like or why a person is gay.... that's the problem with religion

  • @GunOfGod777 How so?

Atheism hasn't started wars, it hasn't prompted someone to kill, cheat, lie, steal, harm or do anything else that would be considered bad or hateful. Whilst religion has started wars, promoted killing, promoted seperation, hate, bigotry, etc.

I'm not claiming Atheism promotes love either, it doesn't promote anything. It lets a person be who they are instead of threatening them or telling them how to live. This is not hate.

  • @GunOfGod777 Believe in Jebus, or he's gonna gun you down, right? And, what happens if you subtract 111 from 777? You a poe? A satanist?

  • @GunOfGod777 Christians burn in hell.... Atheists don't because there know there is no hell :)

  • @GunOfGod777 Atheism is not hate, it is just lack of belief. Theism is hate, it separates people and makes them hate each other.

  • @xNoReligionx actually, it isnt a lack of belief. it is the belief that there is no God and that, takes a certain amount of faith as well.

  • @silverchair28 If atheism is a 'faith', then bald is a hair colour.

  • @Sefaril You are stupid as well as the people who upvoted you. Atheism can't be a faith. Stuff can't be faith. It can be a belief though, and atheism is a belief of god's non-existence. Learn the language...

  • @johntobz Atheism is the LACK of belief in god/gods. Atheism is the default position of everyone.

  • @GunOfGod777 That's nice, but Yawhe, Ra, Allah, Krishna, Zeus, Thor, Woden, Kali, etc etc etc do they love me too?

  • @GunOfGod777 That doesn't make sense. Atheism simply means that one does not believe in deities. That is all. Religion is hate, because you automatically hate any other religion and have to try to convert everyone to your insane beliefs.

  • Now I hate religion and the pain that it causes. But the belief that there was/is a creative force that created all existence isn't stupid.

  • @Mrmilly911 It is not stupid, it is just not based in any reality whatsoever and something that people believe to make them feel better about the vastness of space and our insignificant little world in relation to it... so it's kind of stupid now that I think about it...

  • @spiderpig85 But our reality is so amazing! Why is there something instead of nothing, think about it, Reality it's self has no point of reference, the fact that anything at all exists is infinitely incredible. Reality proves that a force that created us, intelligent or not, is just as likely as the big bang or another scientific theory. Because reality is so impossibly fantastical, any concept of it's creation is equally believable.

  • @Mrmilly911 "Reality proves that a force that created us, intelligent or not, is just as likely as the big bang or another scientific theory."

There, that is a prime example of how Theists are generally less intelligent than Atheists, when you say something that doesn't make ANY sense, you can smugly sit back and think you nailed it.

Scientific theories: Gravity, relativity, electromagnetism, evolution, etc. etc. etc.

Myths: Thor, santa, god, tooth fairy, boogeyman, etc. etc. etc.

  • @spiderpig85 I promise you, that I was a devout atheist like you, and still am tbh, but the concept I tried to explain is philosophical. I'm not a blind believer in stupid religions. I'm not saying any man made creation is true, obviously not, I'm saying our universe, our very reality is so amazing, because it exists. The mere fact of existence is so crazy that something as crazy as a force (not a god or man-made theistic principle) that either governs or created is not ridiculous

  • @Mrmilly911 "Now I hate religion and the pain that it causes. But the belief that there was/is a creative force that created all existence isn't stupid."

I agree it's not stupid, but there is no evidence, so far that such a force exists, and if there is then we get into that vicious circle... what created the creative force then?

Personally, I'd rather leave it alone and say it maybe true, but without evidence many things maybe true.

What does it matter? God in the theistic sense, is NOT!

  • @xNoReligionx We can agree on that! :D well, intelligent people can.

  • "thank god I am atheist" is actually not a line Gervais came up with. It is written by the German aphorist G. C. Lichtenberg (18th century). It is still very funny though and very well delivered!

  • @rivebelle Yes and many comedians have stolen it, but for him to use it at this awards ceremony full of American Christians is very daring and if I may say very funny, although I'm sure it went over the heads of most of the audience.

  • It repeated three times because... ?

  • Haha nice, we better overcome religion soon, it's fucking silly and dangerous

  • @Maxarth007 "fucking silly" is fine with me, I don't care what people want to believe and if they do stupid stuff to themselves that's ok too... The problem is the "dangerous", once your belief gives you the right to tell everyone else what to think, and to get offended when people call you on your silliness to the point you go out and Murder! That's the problem with religion, and it should be continually criticized for that very reason.

  • I always thought he was part of the 1-3% of the population that is Atheist and Gay.

It turns out he's part of the 3-5% of the population that's Atheist and Straight. Live and learn

  • Thank god for Atheists.

  • Now now now religion's only bad if the people leading them are bad. Otherwise they generally have a good message. Only a few of them actually degrade women or teach aggression towards non-believers.

  • @bgiv2010 "Only a few of them actually degrade women or teach aggression towards non-believers."

Unfortunately they happen to be the largest most followed religions.

  • @SDub817 Yeah, not much we can do about that. Ah well. Hang in there, we're due for an period of enlightenment soon, I think.

  • @bgiv2010 - We don't need it...you can be good all by yourself...how about that!

  • haha love this fella!!!!

  • religion, is just somthing man thought up to confort ones self...

  • religion is death insurance.

  • Religion, killing people over who has the best imaginary friend.

  • @PeteLogan69 people kill people over power not because of who like god best or whatever, I think all these religious people who kill in the name of god are actually atheists, because to be religious does not mean to just say you beleive in god, but to follow his teaching, failing to do so is a solid proof that you dont beleive in him or in his judgement.

  • God is fake. Done deal.

  • @XRXproductions How could some of the scientists permit themselves to make a claim that would necessitate knowledge as extensive as the scheme of the universe, when their knowledge of the total scheme of being is *close* to zero, when confronted with a whole mass of unknowns concerning this very earth and tangible, lifeless matter, let alone the whole universe?

  • @1tabligh What?

  • @1tabligh What?

  • @XRXproductions Do scientific discoveries and knowledge cause such a scientist to conclude that matter, *** unknowing and unperceiving ***, is his creator and that of all beings?

  • I'm an atheist and I love it!!!!! Yes I HATE religion!!!

  • @KnifeSniper69 Hate the players not the game.

  • @KnifeSniper69 If you are a real Atheist, you should know that Atheism is not about hating religion

  • @TheDebresence : Very true, no offence to whoever thought so..!!

  • @TheDebresence

    "Real Atheist"?

Wow, someone has a high horse.

  • @Applesmaush Atheism is not about hating religion. is that better?

  • @TheDebresence

Atheism is the non belief in deities. What you do with that is something else entirely, whether that be rebel against religion, coexist with the religious, or make attempts to reach out with logic.

Atheism isn't "about" anything. It's a stance on a topic. Like being a pro choice person is not about hating fetuses or premarital sex; or how being pro life is not about bombing abortion clinics and hating women. As long as you don't believe, you are a "real" atheist. :D

  • @Applesmaush cool.

  • @LickMyBabyBack

well your an idiot.. and idiotic since you're doing the exact thing you just told other people not to do "share their opinion and defend their reasons for having them"

  • finally a God we can all believe in!!

  • @turquatto @dodopandemic The real problem with Pascal's Wager is that it is a way to hedge your bet. Any god with omniscience would see right through your professed belief and know the roots of it lie in hedging.

It's a lousy argument for many reasons, and it's my understanding that it was a bit tongue-in-cheek when proposed.

  • @baph777 Coughlan's an asshole and by no means a role model... I agree that there is no god. I've been an atheist for most of my life. With people like him backing us up, it's no wonder we're losing ground.

  • @baph777 It is true that certain religions, lacking a connection with the principles of revelation, have been influenced in their appearance and growth by the social environment and similar factors. However, it is illogical to ascribe the foundation of all faiths and religious tendencies to material or economic circumstances and demands, to fear of the terrifying forces of nature, to ignorance or to considerations rejected by science.

  • I am an Atheist and I love it.

  • @marcuelcajon good for you! Did you get your member card and tote bag yet?

  • @LickMyBabyBack Now they sent it to the wrong addresse.

  • Western intellectuals were aware only of the superstitious aspect of false religion and how the established dogmas of religion lacked all logical basis, so they had no hesitation in condemning religion as such to be baseless. Their judgment was based on their discouraging experiences with their own religion, and it could not fail, then, to be hasty, unrealistic, irrational and illogical.

  • @baph777 Without doubt, one of the factors in the emergence of anti-religious ideas and a phalanx of deniers of God, has been the false teachings, the inadequacies and the intellectual perversions of the followers of some religions. The peculiarities and separate characteristics of each religion must, therefore, be individually examined when studying the reasons that have led men to adhere to that religion.

  • Cracks me up everytime I hear this!

  • Fucking lol

  • AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHH

  • Haha, Ricky Gervais is amazing.

  • I almost fell off my chair laughing so hard. Thank you to God, for making me an atheist! HAHAAAAAA I bet all the religious nuts were like O.o

  • @esiosan its a joke, dude.its funny regardless of religion or not

  • I bet the people that down voted this are those that are threatened by the very existence of atheists. "Oh shit! They exist, that must mean someone thinks we're wrong! I can't imagine such a thing." *face palm*

  • LOL. don' you love all the "Christians" commenting that he's so mean-spirited ... Followed closely by every possible personal insult. Classic. Go Ricky!!

  • Great job RG. Why would stating one's lack of belief in anything be offensive to believers? We need to burst the bubble that society has placed around religion to protect it from discussion or criticism. Let's start weeding out bad ideas regardless of their source.

  • @TheMightyAC -- That is an illogical conclusion to ANY true Christian. We are not OFFENDED by your dis-belief. I believe in your free choice, however if we do not share our faith and hope, then we are not doing our job as loving brothers and sisters on this Earth. 2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that ANY should perish, but that ALL should come to repentance.

  • can't believe that gervais said that in america lol.

  • Comment removed

  • I knew there was a reason this asswipe was mean-spirited and unfunny - he's an Atheist... And the truth is he couldn't lace the late, great, Bill Hicks's boots.

He's about as funny as Kim Jong Il's political advisor!

  • @DastardlyDawkins So I guess you didn't like George Carlin.

  • Classic! I can imagine the protesters waiting with their noses pressed up against the tv just waiting to find some morsel to complain about! GET A LIFE!!!!!!!! It was a joke! No one died or got killed! a JOKE!!!!!

  • Classic! I can imagine the protesters waiting with their noses pressed up against the tv just waiting to find some morsel to complain about! GET A LIFE!!!!!!!! It was a joke! No one died or got killed! a JOKE!!!!!

  • Classic! I can imagine the protesters waiting with their noses pressed up against the tv just waiting to find some morsel to complain about! GET A LIFE!!!!!!!!

  • Classic!

  • Lol this is so crazy, my graphic design teacher looks and sounds like Ricky Gervais and would brag about being an atheist too, so now maybe he's his long-lost half brother? lol

  • good on him he is great,Funny guy, spookmore

  • I would love to talk phylosophy with Rick because he will be the only one who can't keep a straight face! O yeah what i was really going to say... Athiests stop argueing with cows they dont understand words anyway, and thiests have fun in your wild party place, o wait nvm cuz according to your bible all of you are going to hell anyway. Athiest ftw. We've all tackled mount improbable just some people think a bearded man took our hand and flew us up... Lol

  • Faith is: Believing in some thing or principle for no good reason and maintaining that belief in spite of all evidence to the contrary.

  • DAMN!!!! Its a religion leave crazy people and their weird shit alone!

  • Reason without proof is faith. Faith without reason is religion.

  • HAHA so awesome :D

  • Epic,

    Best "Thank You" Ever.

  • God and Youtube don't mix. Christians get off the internet and read your old testament please. :)

  • people why all the big fuss.he was simply making fun of those people that included ''thank god'' in all their speeches.i'm religious and i find it amusing.

  • Say for the sake of argument, God does NOT exist. So what? We can all still live our lives the same way we want to. People who believe in God can continue to believe in Him and those who don't can continue to not believe. There's no point in the argument because bottomline is we all turn to wormfood. BUT, what if God DOES exist? Entirely different story. Now, people who DO believe in God are justified in their belief and those who don't, well, you can figure that out. :-)

  • @turquatto Pascal's Wager is an extremely weak argument. Which God is the right one? Which religion is the right one? And within those religions, which one is the right denomination?

  • @DodoPandemic plus if god does exist and you believe in him on the basis of Pascal's wager then he won't be very impressed. You would really believe in him for the right reasons! you'd just be hedging your bets, so you are screwed anyway!

  • @uncleboring Or worse, you bet on the WBC and God allows the use of Pascals Wager.......... I'd rather go to hell then spend my eternity with Fred Phelps

  • @DodoPandemic Horror of horrors.. if there is a hell, Fred will be there! arrrhhgghh! Btw people like Fred have done a huge amount of work for the atheist fight back against christian fundamentalism!

  • @uncleboring haha very true.

  • @DodoPandemic - Pascal's Wager is an extremely weak argument only if you apply it incorrectly - which in fact you did as you followed your contention with questions such as "Which God is the right one? Which religion is the right one? And within those religions, which one is the right denomination?". Pascal's Wager is not exclusive to a single faith/belief system but is directed to religious/spiritual belief in general. perhaps you can "enlighten" us with your own "DooPendemic Theory"? :-)

  • @turquatto Then it doesn't matter and your ending the wager with "those who don't, well, you can figure that out. :-)" is asenine, since no, we can't figure it out, and all of us still end up as wormfood. Don't go jumping through filosophical hoops if you can't even remember your own wording of said wager. If it's not exclusive to a single faith then it's pointless and no wager should be made, making it even more weak.

  • @turquatto If the god people believe in actually exists, then we are all pretty fucked up. If that god, the one from the bible actually exists, then we live in some kind of bizarre Big Brother / Saw, and life is just shit on a stick.

  • @Staldren - "If that god, the one from the bible actually exists, then we live in some kind of bizarre Big Brother / Saw, and life is just shit on a stick." according to whom? you? you're pitiful saying things you don't understand :-)

  • @turquatto It is the bible we are talking about, not Darwin's Origin Of Species or Eistein's General relativity. A 12 years old child could understand the bible's "logic": "Hey, I will give you free will, but guess what, you do something I don't like and you burn in hell forever. Here, these are the rules, written as shitty parables no one will ever understand, good luck!" Now that's pitiful.

  • @Staldren well, you've just made an obvious fool of yourself criticizing something you don't understand. show me proof of where you got your information which you so succintly put as "Hey, I will give you free will, but guess what, you do something I don't like and you burn in hell forever. Here, these are the rules, written as shitty parables no one will ever understand, good luck!"... where did you get that? where did you learn that? I'm categorically telling you, the Bible does NOT say that.

  • @turquatto Oh right, I forgot rule number one, "don't think for yourself", of course it's the clerics job to conveniently interpret the book for the masses. "Where did you learn that?" That sounds like I'm not allowed to form an opinion on my own. That's really sad. "Show me proof" Great! that's what you should tell them! Read the damn book and make your own conclusions, that's your proof.

  • @turquatto I know tons if christfuckers who say exactly what are you quoting. The problem is that you can interpret nonsense of goat shepher anyway you like. The is no proof that any interpretation is better than other. That is the reason why religion is nonsense. I can worship any kind of imaginary gods, cars, carrots. Prove me wrong! What is that you dont get? It is so simple. Religion bears no efficient knowledge about world.

  • Atheism is a mockery of itself. If God really does NOT exist as you believe, why is there a need to deny Him? Denial of the existence of something is an indirect or passive admission of the existence of that same thing which is being denied. Otherwise, if it is truly believed that something does not exist, one does not need to deny it simply because it does not exist.

  • @turquatto "Denial of the existence of something is an indirect or passive admission of the existence of that same thing which is being denied." No it's not, it's a negative response to a positive claim. And stating that it is an admission, passive or otherwise, is complete contradictory nonsense. "if it is truly believed that something does not exist.." One has already denied it. This is still a negative response to the positive claim, however you word it.

  • @DodoPandemic - Q: negative response to what? A: to the positive claim. Q: what positive claim? A: the claim that there is God. however YOU word, still, what you are responding to exists. in fact, the only reason your response exists is because of the "positive claim" that existed beforehand. the reverse cannot be true.

  • @turquatto Exactly, the claim always precedes the denial. What are you contesting then?

Claim: I own a ferarri. Response: I don't believe you own a ferarri. I do not deny the existence of a ferarri, merely the claim that you own one. The response is in no way an admittance of believe, how can it be? Liguistically it is impossible, logically it is unsound. But I respect the way you can jump through semantical hoops to make denial mean exactly the opposite of what it does.

  • @turquatto I never say I deny that god exists. I just say I don't believe in the supernatural. If your gods fall in to that category, then I would automatically have to say that I do not believe in them. Same goes for the hundreds of other mythological beings and creatures, for they are no different.
