  • What time of year is this? I'm a Brit planning to cycle from Miami to Los Angeles in December/January. Any sage words of wisdom would be appreciated!!!

  • You're like a pioneer but on a bike having to endure all kinds of weather and just getting water, food, miles in, staying either cool in the summer, warm in the winter, and a good camping spot!

Hey, maybe you can get some snow tires for those wheels if crossing Montana in the fall?

Me, my big adventure this year is bike Yellowstone in Sept but I'm driving there from Oregon as I have to be in Telluride last week of September and even if I weren't on time issues I know better than trek Rockies

  • @Juan2know I wish I was riding the Oregon Coast right about now. I have the next 4 or 5 bike tour planned out. And yes... one of them will be a snowy bike tour.... I will call the series of videos "Snow Bike"

  • I hate to tell you it got all the way up to 75 degrees today in Oregon...better find a jacket when you get into the Rockies! How long do you think it will take you to get home? Nice video...don't let the dogs get ya! Was the south the worst place for them dogs?

    Later...Juan2know

  • @Juan2know I just need to cross the Rockies before the snow flies... I'm still not sure of my route, but I'm crossing the Rockies in Montana

  • lad to see your still around i was wondering what may of happened to you i had not seen a posting in a few days ,keep posting and be safe

  • @tomyhill123 thanks... it's like now... I have 2 videos to upload and I haven't found a place with a good wifi signal... so that's why you see that the videos are uploaded in clusters

  • Thanks for the heads-up on the other two channels; I joined them as well. We worry about you every time we see that traffic passing by so closely. Be careful out there...

  • OMIGOSH! I used to work in Huntington years ago! Nice to see your footage of the town. ; )

You should have gone to the Salamonie State Forest. They have a lovely campground and a beautiful lake. I have a fall camping video on my channel of the place.

Sorry our weather was so crappy during your ride through - we've had a horrible spring this year ; /

  • @JTlovesDexter I didn't have a chance to visit an Indiana State Park, I wish I did. The county park I stayed at (France Park) was good, but not great. The weather is the weather... I rode thru the coldest winter on record, followed by the wettest spring... I will check out your video and thank you for watching

  • Where do you plan to cross the mississippi river? When I did my ride from Atlanta Ga. to M town Iowa, I crossed at Keokuk, Iowa. Vary nice bridge, Two lanes in both directions, nice shoulders with a blacktop surface. Also has a sidewalk on the south side of the bridge that is separated from the traffic by a concreat wall, however I was warned not to use the sidewalk becase a lot of folks tend to throw glass bottels on the walk. Also, what kind of camera gear are you using? Mainly camera mounts.

  • @countyhp thanks for the heads-up on the crossing.... I'm just exploring that right now. I am using a FlipCam, mostly handheld, but for this video, I used a gorilla-pod tripod mounted on the Bob Trailer... works pretty good

  • Good video! Bike onnnnn!...Like all your videos, good info!

  • @Douger4u777 thanks Douger.... I'm biking ON !

  • Man, nice to see the temperatures dropping into the 70s for you. The radar is interesting, with wandering storms from the west and improving conditions, hopefully. Great to see you marching on!! Looking to set up a new frame with permanent fenders, ready to roll with a BOB in tow...what can I say, you're a bad influence, hehe.

  • @campy9sp when you start with the Bob, I advise you to adhere to the manufacturers maximum weight and speed limits. After you gain experience, you'll figure out where and when you can exceed them

  • Great video coverage of your Indiana bicycling adventure! Thank u for sharing.

  • @musicspecialist1 thanks a million for watching!

  • It's good to see great life examples like yours! Your videos are very good. Subscribed! Hugs from Brazil.

  • @RicardoATBarbosa I am very pleased to have you as a representative from Brazil. I would LOVE to travel there. thank you for following along!

  • You should of poped in to Jamie's Kitchen in Huntington (MAD ENGLISH CHEF) battling over eating over there ,stocked up on 6,000 kcal for the days ride can't wait for the dvd the book deal the movie T shirts and stickers etc etc to come out, Tom Hanks could play you now who could we have to play your love interest ? blessings be safe M.S.

  • @armouredcockroach haha, when I read you comment... all I could think about was...."Should I name my stove Wilson?"

  • awesome, love it as always.. this may seem like a somewhat ridiculous question.. but would you deem it to be safe for a 30 year old female to ride the c&o alone? The immediate thought is 'of course not' but i have no one willing to conquer it with me! Thanks for the videos, keep them coming!

  • @thetrueloyalty this is a very good question and I feel sad that it's probably a legitimate question. There are a bunch of question I have for you. Are you planning to camp? Are you planning to go at the height of the season when most of the campgrounds are full of people? Have you toured on a bike before solo? I am thinking about doing a whole video responding to question

  • @ThreeWheelJourney I do intend on camping, I would probably follow the same format it seems that you do. I would camp 2-3 nights and then do a clothes washing/showering type stop somewhere(hostel) for a night. I plan on doing the GAP and C&O together, either September of this year.. or around mid June of next year. I have never toured on a bike before solo, I normally ride mountain bike trails that are typically within parks. Traveling on a bicycle to this extent would be something new for me.

  • @thetrueloyalty On the Pacific Coast, I met many women who were traveling solo and camping in the State Parks... (which are arranged about every 40 miles right on the beach). The difference is that there are lots of Park Rangers and other bike tourers I specially asked the question while traveling the trail about any problems or crime on the trail... I was assured there hasn't been any. Since you don't have alot of touring experience I would recommend that you tour with a partner

  • @ThreeWheelJourney Another option would be to pick a route from your house, and ride for 1 or 2 days and then return. These short trips will teach you a great deal about your own abilities and gear selection. Trust me... you CAN do this

  • @ThreeWheelJourney seriously thank you so much!! I've been telling my friends and family about what i plan to do and how you are my inspiration through youtube videos. They all think i'm crazy.. but that's ok!! I'm inspired and more determined than EVER! Thanks for such informative videos!

  • @thetrueloyalty be sure to read some journals on CrazyGuyOnABike and go to the touring forum on bikeforum(dot)net.... lots of good bicycle touring info can be found there

  • @thetrueloyalty in the meantime... Go to the Adventure Cycling Association's forum and find the subforum called "touring partners wanted" (or something like that) and post a thread.... you might find a willing tour buddy
