@samskhanuk -- The first sentence, "Have you finished your work?" is in the present perfect tense, and the other sentence is in the past tense. Do a search on my videos and you should find one that explains this difference.
sir, i'm sorry i could not explain my confusion clearly. i know the difference b/w the past tense and present perfect tense. i watched (have watched??) your video that explains the difference b/w "i have lived in this apartment since 1992" and "i lived in this apartment in 1992 ". i understood that these 2 sentences do not mean the same.i've one question..do the following 2 sentences mean the same ?
I have a question here.. did these two words "have" plus "had" can use both in grammar at the same time right after your video of "I have had it for two years"?
i have always thought that the difference between"wanna"and "want" is something else,,for example I've thought "wanna" is used in American language and "want" in English language
"wanna" is used in spoken English. It's "want" and "to" together, so when someone speaks English very fast, instead of saying, "I want to get a pizza," it sounds like "I wanna get a pizza."
So cool

i was doing some exercises on past tense and past perfect.. i came across to one question..that goes:
I told him i didn't know who (steal)_____ his pen.
i answered:
i told him i didn't know who _stole__ his pen..
but the correct answer is
i told him i didn't know who had stolen his pen..
how is that possible?...
could you please help??.. thanks

@learnamericanenglish But, is it appropiate to use "wanna" and "gotta" in a formal way? Also, is this a contraption, or just slang?
