  • can anyone tell me what the value of a 1936 russian penny is?

  • faek

  • I have a load that I got from my Mother and I collected a lot as well. I have some Victorian Pennies and Halfpennies. Some George the 3 SHillings and Victorian 4s or Double Florins. I have some Old Elizabeth 1 Sixpences and King James 1 .I also have a few Roman Coins. We used to use English Money along with our own Irish Money until Decimalisation in 1978 I think. Then we left Sterling and so we used the Irish Pound and Coins only. We could use the Old British Currency up till then .

  • I don't know too much about coins but I liked seeing the types of coins and the change of figureheads. I would like to know more. I was surprised to see so many dug around Tonbridge.

  • My dad dug up some coins with his metal detector, and I think he had some roman coins, maybe I wil Youtube them and see what happens. I forgot I had them.

  • these coins are worth fuck all

  • If anyone wants to discuss Tonbridge coins, and they go metal detecting, can you get in touch with me.

  • I have some over 100 years old. I put some vids up btw.. I have a coin from 1896, it looks kinda like an old early 1900's one penny but smaller. It is hard to make out.

  • Yes it's the age in which the coins were struck and of course their rarity that makes the collectors from all the world so eager to posses them. I can tell you for example that here in Bulgaria you can buy the cheapest ancient greek and roman coins in all of Europe (well it's illegal but thousands of these coins are exported out of the country every year)!

  • Sometimes it's the stories that go with them.. I was told for example that the Queen Vic halfpennies still were used fairly recently in the UK(well not very recent of course) which surprised me. We have some roman coins, not worth much, but again it makes me think the Romans trod on the same path as me.

  • Sorry if i had offended you with my statement, i didn't mean it. Yes you are right, they are part of the monetary history.

In fact i also can't find relatively nice queen Victoria's pennies in my country!

  • Yes you are right, they are part of the monetary history. Sorry if i offended you in some way with my statement, i didn't mean it.

In fact i also can't find Queen Victoria's pennies in relatively very fine condition in my country!

  • yes I only got them for about 2p.

They may be worth nothing.. but it's still history. If I had them to sell, I would have been ripped off. I quite like them even if they aren't worth anything.

  • These coins are junk!! 40-70 year old copper pennies that worth nothing!!
