  • whats the first beat?

  • @finomhiphopandskate 'Blind Alley' -The Emotions

  • You need a better slipmat

  • DUDE YOU ARE AWESOME I WAS WONDERING WHER CAN I GET A MP3 COPY OF YOUR VINYL

  • Sounds exactly the same.

    Fucking technology.

  • Omg u r a stupend asshole

  • he's gonna fuck up that turn table do you see the plater stop? i should be spinning the entire time unless you hit pause play which he doesn't

  • vnyl sounds more natural, i think..

  • Yeah...and this is why, as an electronics repair tech, I have to replace so many burnt-up drive IC's in these...this is VERY hard on the turntable motor in a direct drive machine! MAKE SURE you use a good SLIP MAT under the record!

  • does scratching ruin teh vinyl?

  • @TruAzn100 YES...it causes horrible "cue burn"...so NEVER use a record that is worth anything to you!

  • real dj , real vinyl. no way.

  • get a job yo!

    hahhahaaahahahahhhahahahahahhahahhahahahh

  • What's the purpose. This is loosing ground.

  • you like to buy expensive cardridges every week and killing vinyls?

  • sounds like your sctaching the fuck outta that disk also shitty u.u

  • great addition to the cheater mixers

  • can i use my pc sound card for timecoded vynils?

i'm buying Numark DJ in a box v6

  • @shigalbigal dont ever buy a dj in a box set.. theyre for babies. buy something real like numark mixer and technics tables

  • Stop rhapin the turntables like that :D

  • why does your regular vinyl scratch like that? is that a technique you are using? also what is that silver thing on the top left of the turntable mine doesn't have it for some reason

  • @smokedankblunts the silver thing is an adapter that goes over the center pin of the turntable so you can play 45's

  • ur shits sideways

  • @teoulennon Only when I'm lazy and don't want to get out of bed ;)

Thats why I wear depends ;)

  • @djscratchdog ROFL

  • i bought white tracktor timecoded vinyl you really cant tell the difference

  • do you have to have the needle down for timecoded vinyl? if i decide to use timecoded vinyl does that pretty much make it impossible to loop and sync through software?

  • is conectiv good?

  • Note tone arm between thumb and forefinger at 1:33. Cartridge abuse!!

  • whats the name of the tune playing at the start and end of this video??

  • @bruvakev @bruvakev Blind Alley - The Emotions as used in Ain't No Half Steppin - Big Daddy Kane

  • hey masta do u have that record on mp3 if do can u email me it peace

  • Am I right in thinking that timecode vinyl can be played using traditional carts? I don't need to buy special carts, do I?

    Thanks for the cool vid.

  • whats timecoded

  • Can you use timecoded vinyl on virtual dj and use mp3 to play the song and mix it?

  • Um duh thats what it was made for.

  • You are GOD

  • the timecoded one sounds like ass...try using a wav better control for your experiment...I'd rather listen to silence than mp3's!

  • First time I've seen someone scratching on a S-Arm.

  • @voidNvain

Where the fuck have you been?

  • seriously!!?!

  • @voidNvain where u been in a cave?

  • This stuff is comfusing I dont know whats going on but im wiling to learn the whole thing about the DJing Business.

  • can you just use timecoded vinyls on virtual dj so u can use mp3 to play the song and mix it manually?

  • Do i HAVE to buy the Rane scratch live/Traktor software to use timecoded vinyls?

Cant i just buy timecoded vinyls and use it on virtual dj?

  • yes u can :))

  • @kangjiho

I use the U46MKII Sound Card with the Serato Timecode and VDJ sometimes

  • You can use timecoded vinyls on Virtual DJ. They cost only 10 bucks so, they are pretty cheap : )

  • @kangjiho Yush you can

  • Which soundcards can i use for the time coded vinyls

  • Conectiv by M-Audio

  • The VS. in this equation comes from tracking down a record at a record store or downloading a file from a laptop. And that really is it.

  • Technic 1200's

  • @djscratchdog What else ;)

  • Cool, it sounds just as good on the time coded vinyl as it does on regular vinyl.

  • how long do the timecoded vinyls last?

  • @spb5060 I got mines in late 2006 and there still going strong..

  • got mine in 2006 also but mine are far to out of shape 2 use

  • At 0:42, you sound like Mr. Mackey, "Mmkay." LOL!

  • Ahah its true!

  • maaaan sooo true :D:D

  • He was testing the different sounds in terms of scratching between a timecoded vinyl and a traditional vinyl. Which is why hes just scratching over and over, without any beat. Its just like any other instrument really.. i mean, if you heard a cymbal over and over.. you would think it sounded horrible, but when used in conjuncture with drums it sounds much better.

If he was actually doing scratches with a beat, it would sound much better.

  • Comment removed

  • Time code vinyl just sounds like an envelope filter on an Mp3..Nasty..and predictable same tone and pitch on all the moves... Much prefer the sound of the analogue ..Beter mid range/and overall tone and more organic filter pitch sounds..

    Nice try But...

  • So basically I can buy vinyl turn tables.. and control virtually mp3s?? THAT'S SO COOL!!! And it turns out to be cheaper for me :D

  • i using serrato with time coded vinyl recommendable?

  • in my opinion, i think its better than torq

  • whats the song at the beginning?

  • Ain't no half Steppin by Big Daddy Kane

  • thanks man

  • Thanks djscratchdog for the video really help me very much and also the video gemme a idea abut the virtual vinil before buy one thanks again

    DjMontevideo

  • and for you super star djs who have gone deaf cause some chick has her tongue in your ear - tell your serrato or whatever the bull shit software company

that producers are spending of thousands of dollars on proper A/D and D/A converters to create quality recording only for some ass wipe to fuck the frequency up -tell the promoter to get a proper apogee converter so at least the music sounds the same when we spent several months making it while you were getting your.....sucked

  • why are you so mad ?

  • last night a seratto dj screwed my life-

slew of mp3s, heard about 30 second of each song

things mixed with each that make your body quiver

what a waste of a sound system, high frequencies all over the place and the dj never looked once at the dance floor cause he was too busy scrolling through 50,000 song library - if there was no alcohol , i would have strangled that dumb fuck

  • HAHA.. where did this happen?

  • save the vinyl!!!

  • Vinyl is magic, look at my Thorens. 5*

  • Dont know if any one can tell that much but i can hear a slight brakage on the timecoded vinyl compared to the traditional vinyl. It may be because he's using the mp3.

All natural is best ; ) but got to say i use Serato and you cant help but love it for bringing out a whole new dimension of creativity.

It's definitely better that a CDJ hands down.

  • does the scratching damage the vinyl?

  • yeah...does it?

  • The vinyl is timecoded it does get damaged but there is nothing but a computer signal printed on the vinyl.

I have been using the same vinyl for almost 3 years and I have no plans to replace it yet.

  • oh,thanx hanksta!

  • So it's binary code that can only be played back on a digital system eh?

    Freaky shit man!

    VINYL'S GONE DIGITAL???

  • Great Vid, Good Scratching. Screw the haters, you know your doing something right if you have there attention.

  • Fuck timecoded and mp3's.

!!!KEEP VINYL ALIVE!!! (not timecoded vinyl)

  • nice i use torq

  • i thought the traditional sounded more natural. ya know. they both sound pretty good though.

  • REGULAR VINYL SOUNDS BETTER!

  • he was u jus comparin the timecoded and regular

  • Well, I thought his scratching was strong but I have a bigger cock than he does

  • What?! Why would make a bullshit comment like this me?! It just don't any fuckin' sense! For you make an nasty ass comment like this period. You need be much more dis-tasteful in making comments. I don't apprecite this period!

  • IMO scratching MP3's is down right unethical

Keep the DJ alive, scratch some vinyl sucka

  • Keep the DJ Alive scratch MP3's!

  • u got Technics 1200 MK2's....which Technics model u think is the best

  • This muthafucka in this video clip! Can't fuckin' scratch for shit! This muthafucka is WHACK!!! And i don't give a fuck what nobody else thinks about my comment either! I can't scratch better then this muthafucka can period! I was taught by the best deejay's around\. Since i was about 7 yrs. old. I was taught by "deejay Herc" students. Along with deejay Grand Master, of the supreme rap group "Grandmaster Flash".

  • Shut up and go suck a cock. You can't scratch for shit mutha fucka. YOU SUCK! I was taught by the best. TI and LL Cool Jay. And on top a dat I have a bigger cock than you do nigga. I got a nice big smooth Italian cock. Fuck You!

  • See i knew you was an FAGGOT! Only a FAGGOT would say something like this!!! You bitch ass faggot!!!

  • How big are your tits?

  • i bin told by loads of girlems dat italians r small m8! lmao

  • No, I have a big dick

  • can you guys please just have a normal conversation ? comon you guys

  • Lets keep the comments clean ladies.

If you can scratch better good for you post a video and put your money where your mouth is...

  • And if you had any sort of respect for your teachers mr 777jeru you wouldnt put other ARTISTS down and you would give every dj/ARTIST a fair chance ,,,,,just like the fair chance your teacher gave you on your first scratch lesson, and just like the chance your mother gave you when she opened her legs all those moons ago ....HONK HONK..grandmaster flash would prolly call any student of his a CUNT for giving it on youtube, because he,s oldschool and those guys had no chip on there shoulder.

  • 777jeru You have been blocked from this channel for acting like a total moron.

  • im interested in dj'ing but dont know too much about what equipment is good, bad anything like that. i would want to use timecoded vinyl instead of normal records. can anyone tell me what im going to need to dj and brands/model numbers if possible? thanks

  • for us young people, it will b very hard 2 gt classics on vinyl, we can only gt vinyls of tracks released presently, and there is more choice in mp3, having said tht its kinda hard getting vinyls, so timecodes are okay

  • vinyl wins

  • @guitarguy950 vinyl always wins but its a hell of a lot less convenient

  • @guitarguy950 Did you even watch the video???

  • Weak

    Lazy

    Less skilled.

  • very cool & good comparison,

time moves on and we have to go with it,...

real vinyl always will be better but with literally no shops left to buy them (and shopping for vinyl was the best part of it), timecode vinyl offers a great opportunity to keep real mixing alive.

    excellent job

  • Isn't stopping the platter bad?

  • LOL last time I checked it was. Pressing down hard = not a good thing.

  • You don't stop the platter when you scratch, there is a mat between the it and the record that allows the platter to spin under the record if you hold it.

  • I know that. I was telling the person above that it was a bad thing, and the person in the video clearly does a few places.

  • AKA Slipmats

  • Real vinyl is best, sound warmer and tighter

  • yeah i agree with you, but for making music on parties i bought a set of torq to use all my music on my laptop...although i love real vinyl

  • im not into scratching but the traditional vinyl sounds better

  • Seems like the time coded one(in terms of frequency response) is a bit more compressed, less dynamic and has a bit more midrange...seems like it doesn't have all the little nuances as real vynyl, but thats just nitpicking. Very close.

  • I used to use real vinyl all the time but with Torq I can rip my vinyl to digital and make it sound any way I want.

I prefer digital from now on.

    skippless, timeless,weightless,virtual reality :)

    PEACE!

  • does virtual dj HAVE to have timecodes? why cant you use a normal vinyl for virutal dj?

    2. does usb turntables need timecode?

  • can Torq timecode vinyls work with virtual dj?

  • Hmmmm not sure I never used Virtual DJ..

  • only if it can work with ms. pinky vinyl..

  • thanks mate, and what about hardware (recommended idea for a video, beginners guide.)

  • i cant tell the difference, but the only reason i would like to get time coded vynals is because there cheaper, and easier portability, i'm also looking for a deck i can connect to my mac, and some good software to, what do you recommender for a beginner like me , thanks please reply

  • ust get a cheap direct drive Numark Tunnrtable and Torq system.

Torq cost less than Serato Traktor and Mixvibes and Torq does more.

  • i am about to get 2 technic tables and a vestix mixer off craigs list... i also have a mac

what is the best software/program do u think i should use to scratch? a begginer here.

how do u go to certain section songs if u play a mp3?

  • Torq is by far the best cost less then the rest and does alot more.

  • how do u go to certain section songs if u play a mp3?

and do i need any additional hardware using torq?

  • i use torq

its cheap and its very good

however Serato is the industry standard

    its over 600 bucks

torq is a little over 300

  • i'm a previous owner of torq. it's a good program to use. i switched over to serato simply because it made it a whole lot easier when it came time to switch-out djs at the bar gigs.

  • There was a lag still on the timecoded

  • I've been on Serato Scartch Live for over 2 years. I love it, I'm not changing anytime soon. It's just like recorded vinyl, except you save your back from carrying crates!!

  • so timecoded vinyls are as good as real vinyls? what's dvs?

  • DVS is Digital Vinyl System.

Its short for Serato,Torq, Traktor Scratch and Mix Vibe systems.

  • Vinyl is not dead it just not widely used.

But lets not forget the new DVS is using real vinyl to control their software, so in a sense vinyl is still very much alive just changed.

    and change is good!

    PEACE!

  • VINYL HAS BEEN DEAD FOR YEARS NOW.,.,.,.

they use that material to make carbon fiber hood and tanks now...

I BELIEVE IN COMPETIONS THOUGH, TIME CODED VINYL AND LABTOPS SHOULD NOT BE USED IN DMC

  • Bullcrap!

I scratch vinyl and it is still very much alive my friend. Most professional dj's use a combination of both vinyl and mp3 turntables

  • time code is great i mean who ever says its not is gay i mean u still have the classic set up but u just have many other effects like loops ect its a blessing for the ita a djs dream come true thanks vdj 5.o

  • the main thing for me is using time coded is u can bring a GANG of music to a party on a hard drive and not a gang of crates and for the people that is saying vinyl is DEAD u mite be rite because the LAPTOP is a major part of your set up now TECHNOLOGY is part of DJ'ING now i HATE 2 even say it but YES TECHNOLOGY has KILLED VINYL !!!

  • vinyl is dead to the general population, yes, but to audiophiles it has someof the greatest sound but if you arent willing to spend thousands of dollars on your setup than electronic is the way to go

  • He's Right!

  • Timecoded kicks ass, its a million times better than CDJ, and vinyl isn't dead YET, but it is slowly dying! ...Still top DJ's use vinyl, its a skill to be able to use vinyl, every deck is slightly different, some are old and un-calibrated, it makes DJ'ing interesting, watching DJ's use vinyl really sorts the men from the boys. You can't DJ without proving you can spin on vinyl IMO.

  • hahaha)) the 'ahh'-sound on the Torg was originally sampled from that green record? or just the remastered HQ library sound?

  • I sampled it from that green record..

I still like buying vinyl then I sample from it and put the original into my record collection.

The Best thing about DVS is I still can use my mp3 files.

Stuff that I don't have on vinyl.

  • I cant believe I considered gettin serrato or traktor scratch its just not the same, real vinyl is so much better

  • Why? Without any arguments your comment is quite worthless...

  • it seems anybody can be a dj nowadays as long as u have virtual dj, a bunch of annoying steven hawking vocals and a phaser, its sad, i see dj's nowadays playing scratch loops on there cdjs, CMON lets get back to teh good old vinyl ! theres no skill in buton bashing

  • This is why product like Torq works so well you can still use your old Turntables only now you can use them with all your digital files and keep you vinyl nice and safe at home.

  • Is there any latency???

  • it would actually sound good if it wasnt pointless scratching and had a sampled voice in it over some music.

  • I need somewhere that will press a 7" for me in North America, but I have no idea where to look.

Does anyone know where to get 7" records pressed?

  • is it me or is that the most irritating sound ever?

  • Its You :)

  • that's what mp3's are for vinyl is for scratching.

  • Maybe! BUT YOU KILL VINYL BY DOING THAT!

  • its already dead

  • what was the purpose of this ????

  • This is an old video comparing DVS to Traditional vinyl .

Back when some Dj's were still skeptical about using a Digital System.

Its just a comparison of who it reacts on the turntable plate.

I myself was a new user back when this video was made.

  • technics have one fatal flaw, the audio output cord comes out far too easially and the only way to fix that is to take the whole frikkin arm apart, its about 150 bucks to fix and it aint under manufacturers warranty. Also, i find serato scratch a better tool than torq, mostly cuz it aint made in china.

  • Torq was developed in the USA and is a product from M-Audi formally known as midi-man they have offices all over the world but the main base is in Irwindale California.

  • yeah i know, but if you look at ANY of the stuff it says made in PROC like all the avid companies. Its still a damn good product though

  • Thanks for the tips. Great stuff

  • this demonstration is so senseless. your shitty mic recording doesnt show the audio difference. btw there is no doubt that digital systems do great work too, so what you tryin to prove here? technically you also dont seem to have the level to tell the difference.

  • why don't you message me for more details.

  • are you scratching with just one turntable? Do you have to have a mixer to scratch? If so, does the mixer have to be specially compatible with Virtual DJ or Torq or those kinds of programs?

  • My vinyl came with the torq system right out of the box.

but you can get it at many places.

  • hey Masta Hanksta, do you know where you got your timecoded vinyl?

    Thanks!

  • would you recommend using an esi maya44 usb interface? i am very low on cash, and I can get it for 99$.
