Andrew, Augustine was a high leader of the Catholic ch. in the time of the fall of the Roman Impire and was a man of the like of women and good wine. He tasted all the best of women and wine, but at the age of 30 he did find Jesus in his heart and was ask to be tranferred to Hippo to figure out Jesus and his new finding of Jesus in his heart. He died at the age of 32.

All the quotes you have here are from his high living times and did not know Jesus. After the age of 30 he knew he was saved.

 But you are right: Augustine did have a very convoluted theology, but it is not in accord with Predestination. The RC Church made sure of that. If you take it as a whole, Augustine ultimately supports, "Salvation by Grace." I neither support nor reject that: it is just so. Augustine changed over his lifetime.
