super moves were introduced in super street fighter 2 turbo, also ken and ryu were never the same only amateurs labeled them as that. while i will agree the mechanics are similar the largest difference lying in ken having unstopable reversals and ryus unbeatable ranging game only to be matched by dhalsim. i suggest you play super street fighter 2 hd remix that game will change your oppinion

@brickclimber I was referring to the original version of SF2. In witch kin and ryu were the same characters. as far as super moves. i did not say that they were introduced in SF3 i said "allot has changed between SF2 (the original) and third strike"

ken and ryu have been different since super street fighter 2 (or SF 2 Hyper Fighting it could be argued)

Super SF 2/Turbo was where they were given all different normal moves and Ken got the flaming Shoryuken and Ryu got a better Hadouken and Ken's hurricane kick started doing more hits. Ryu and Ken in Third Strike are pretty much based on their Super Turbo designs.

Sweet, Amazon are selling a DVD boxset of all three movies at the moment, which bizarrely is cheaper than buying it on it's own.

But it's really cheap now, well worth buying!

Also check out "The Storyteller" if you like Jim Henson stuff, that's very Labyrinth too, infact he made it around the same time.

great review but there are more problems of the game than that.

1. the new charracter roster is actally a bad thing and every game of this kind needs returning character.

example:super mario bros. if you had a mario game without mario characters you woulden't have a mario game. game + mario charactors = a mario game.

2.cap com has remove ryu move and they got replaced with bad moves that do low damage.

example:contra has 2 charactors that play the same.

contra chartaters - guns = nothing.

Well thats just an opiion like mine. I like the new roster (in a way) and i dont know what your talking about with Ryu, hes who i play as and he has his Haduken, Hurican Kick and upercut thing. . . Whats different?

ok, I read the Title and even thought: "oh my... why does he hate Streetfighter so much", but then I saw the clip and what a Surprise it was. You did really good Work, killing the roumor, that you are just a SF-hater and prooved, that you just want to share your opinions with the world.

A good review. Only a few things:

*Why didn't we see any footage of you playing the game? In all your other reviews you give us vids of you playing, giving us a true Michael V experience.

*Akuma was actually added in 2nd Impact.

*Also you missed quite a few of the new mechanics introduced to SF in the 3 series.

Other than that, pretty good review.

Excellent review Mike. I myself found Third Strike to be the only Street Fighter game I ever liked and you got every positive aspect of the game just right. And yes the Street Fighter III Third Strike rap is one of the worst themes ever, close to NBA Hangtime's Half-Time rap.
