SPAM has got to be one of the best survival meats on the market. They fed GI's during World War II and beyond. I found 24 packs of the single serving SPAM for about $27 on Amazon. I believe those are the 3 oz packs. This is a very good idea. Good job.
i have yet seen anyone survive on their own for 3 months in oregon living off the land. you are constantly moving burning cal's and trying to keep nutrition higher than what your burning is very very very hard to do. secound is the weather. your body again, suffers from when its hot, cold or wet outside. 3rd is mental. its very very hard to deal with the constant threat of surviving. some can but its very hard.
Good video hope this info helps. Your Spam is in Retort bags not mylar. You can actually make those yourself at home with any meal you want in it. Yes 5 to 10 year shelf life. Look up "Retort Canning" here on Youtube and you will see how to do this at home. Quality food is extremely important for survival one can only live on spam, prepackaged msg meals, top ramen for a limited time before sickness will set in. Invest in quality equipment and food invest in yourself. Everyone deserves good food
that mylar bags can u buy those at like a wal mart? and do i need one of those machines u have there to suck the air out of the bag or can i just put the food in the mylar bag and its good for long term?tyvm
am i correct that peanuts do not go bad? so that makes then great storage food? should i keep them in the bags they comei n or store them in sum air tight container?? please new prepper need help tyvm
There's no food in your food, I ate this kind of stuff for the first 40yrs of my life.. it won't keep you living for long. Thanks for the vid. Education IS the key.
Awesome video brother! Way to be resourceful and work on a budget. I'm based out of Oregon too and I agree: If you starve in the woods in Oregon, you're an idiot.
This actually helped a lot, at first I was packing each family members MRE separately but because in an ideal situation we would all be together and of course I would do most of the cooking (mom status) it works out better to place all the food I need for my whole family (of 3) in one bag! Great video
Good video, you're doing great with these videos. I live in north east Tennessee and everything you have in your MRE's would serve me well also. I would like to see a video of woodcraft if bad goes to worse and you are forced to the woods for what ever reason. How to determine what is edible when hunting for food, and how to make water safe for drinking when necessary. Take your camera and some buddies and hit the woods, show us some shelter ideas too.
This was a really nice video, was really enjoying it to about half-way through, when you started calling people "complete idiots". Well, I've never been to Oregon, so, I don't know what grows out in your neck of the woods. So, I'm offended by being called a "complete idiot". I don't even know where Oregon is! (Just kidding) Now, say you're sorry!
I can already see that I will be spending hours watching your channel. It's funny that I made a BOB Food Prep Vid today, and here you are with more great ideas. I haven't edited or posted it yet, but the theme is pretty much the same.
That's awesome! One idea is to poke a couple pin holes in the noodles, granola bars, and oatmeal, so the 02 can be evacuated from those too. Great video!
Great info! Hope you don't mind if I steal your idea, no more $8 surplus MREs for me! Seriously man, phenomenal idea. What size foodsaver bag is that?
id throw a ducktaped fishing hook with 10ft of line on it and a few snare wires in my heavey duty high cost mre's =) would hardly take any space and give you a few means of gathering meat , and some vitamins bandaids and a few advills . of course most people have this stuff in there kits but 2 is 1 and 1 is none =)
I need to get a vacuum sealer soon. I personally would go with the mylar bags because light will degrade food much faster. If you are throwing them in the trunk of your car, consider putting them in a cooler to help keep the food from getting too hot on a sunny day where your car becomes an oven. This will extend the life of your food by a lot.
You are right, most food will last a lot longer than its "beat by" date.I have personally ate canned food 5-6 years after its "best by" date with no ill effects. Thanks for the vid!
@JADA121603 Look at my channel if gourmet entrees, breakfast, drinks that last 15+ years interest you that you can get for low as 67 cents a serving/cup.
You've got a good idea. I end up throwing away half my MRE because it can be disgusting depending on the menu. By making up your own MRE you are guaranteed to enjoy the entire package.
I usually put my food in an Ultra-Sil dry bag that you can squeeze the air out and roll up tight.
I've done something very very close to what you did here for my B.O.B.'s Like you, I figure I could easily make it last a week even with moderate activity levels. The survival rules of three say you can go for three weeks without any food. That rule applies generally to people in good health who are not real active during that 3 week period. My area is rich with wild game and fishing opportunities and if nature cooporates and I'm healthy enough to forage, that 1 food pouch could go much further.
I agree with jdietz below, it might be a good idea to put in a extra, large size ziploc to put all the contents in once you open it. That way you wouldnt have a lot of loose items in your pack.
Great video!! The only thing I would do different is have glucose tab's or some packs of syurp or anything high carb or sugar as my daughter is diabetic and always have to make sure we have something sweet for low blood sugar in times of stress or in this case stress and maybe not enough food portions!!! great tips!
@firedog2k11 your right i should of said a little over $3:00 i will add it all up i think it's around $3:58 the water proof matches put me over the spam was 2 for $1:00 and the top roman was 8 cents each hope the helps
great video brother i'm going to make me some tomorrow great idea keep making great vids do you really eat worms and ants you should do a video eating worms keep the vids coming!!!!
