if anybody doesn't understand what lost flash paralell's are they need to watch this, to understand why they are on the island in the first place and understand why the paralel's are not real, nor are they fake but being shown just see what their lives would be like had they not crash. They need to understand why they are on the island and that's why I recommend watching this!
More like, Richard tells Jacob what's up. Jacob: "Why should I step in?" Richard: "Because if you don't, he will!" Jacob: *realizes Richard is brilliant* "...do you want a job?"
lots of things answered, sort of, in truth jacob is just talking about his experience of what the island is, not what it truly is, because he himself doesnt really know, so we never find out the complete truth, and unlike some idiots saying thats a bad thing, its incredible we never truly know
@rob87s I love the fact that they didnt spoon feed us explanations "scooby doo style" but they definately gave us more than enough info to understand what exactly the island is.
its similar to what God is doing to humans in a way! "its all meaningless if i have to force them to do anything" and he already has that type, the angles. God created us to see what we will do if we have the will to make a choice. Will humans choose good over evil even though we have the power not to?
This is the beginning of the Others, great iconic moment of the show, answering the question that's been plaguing our minds since season three when we learned that Richard doesn't age.
Okay, the cork is the island, the wine is the darkness (MIB), the outside of the bottle is the world, but....what the hell is the bottle? ("Keeping the darkness where it belongs")
@mutscot I interpreted it as being the physical or spiritual location of the evil, so you could interpret the wine as being evil and the bottle as being hell where it is contained.
I thought this was a great explanation as to what the island was and was really one of the few things that could of worked as an explanation that either wouldn't of been to confusing or just a letdown.
As for season 6, it had it's ups and downs but I enjoyed it mostly. I did think some of the episodes clanked along a bit but the last half of the season was great, the first half was a little hit and miss but I still found something in all the eps to enjoy. As for the finale, I liked it.
I was practically crying tears of joy when I saw this episode because it answered sooo many questions about Richard. I also did the same when I saw the one with Jakob and the smoke monster as children. I would've broken the television if the series ended without explaining those three.
I don't know how they got Richard's back story so perfect and interesting (Ab Aeterno).. yet completely f*ck up Jacob and MIB's story in Across the Sea.
@csibatmanfan He also played one of the bank robbers in the beginning of Lethal Weapon 2. I was randomly watching that the same day of the Lost Finale, and I was like, Holy Crap, it's Jacob! Then Mel Gibson kicked the sh** out of him!

I think this is my favorite episode. It tells a classic tale. The temptations of evil. The discipline of the good. And the trials of mankind.

Anyone else notice that Jacob's voice sounds strange when he says "the darkness" like as if it had been edited or something?

One thing I've always thought is that Jacob has a God complex. This scene proves it. Never really stepping in to help his fellow man.

And the big reveal is here, right from jacob's mouth. The first like 37 mins of this episode was rather boring, this scene alone made up for it.
