  • within to go on to ever dangerous pursuits? Terribly handled by almost all involved, from then until now. Way too much covering of ones ass and far too little remorse and responsibility taken, it seems as though nobody was at fault. Obviously nobody purposely caused the crash or the deaths but numerous people, including the pilot, did nothing or not enough to prevent the possibility. Live ammo on set, pyrotechnics close to the helicopter, kids working at 2 AM, numerous violations of laws and gu

  • Wait, have I got this right, the heli pilot involved in the 1982 Twilight Zone set deaths of 3 people goes on to make a career out of one of the most dangerous ways to fly a helicopter? If so, my first thought would be that this sounds like a guilt complex whereby he puts his own life at risk out of an inability to change what has happened. But then when taking into account the crass way this was handled, it's hard to tell what this guys all about. Or did the event just spark the thrill seeker

  • I always wondered why my grandfather called John Landis "HEADHUNTER"....mr wingo....don't you ever feel bad that you killed 3 people ?

  • @clev9980

He didnt kill them, though. The pyrotechnicians triggered an explosion too early which took off the tail rotor, and caused the helicopter to spin out of control. Doug didnt make any contributions to the accident, and couldnt do anything to save Mr Morrow or the two children so therefore he wasnt responsible.

  • @Superfreaxx That is not correct. In FACT Dorsey KNEW from prior trial runs that the explosions were a possible risk to the helicopter. He did not tell the director Landis nor the explosions experts and continued operating the helicopter....which made him criminally negligent along with John Landis the director...although for other reasons.

  • goofy outfits, silly music, phony setting... quite a place to chat about this horrific shit.

    morons.

  • Death Loggers written by Pilot Douche Bag!

  • At least it's better than watching a couple of ol' farts jabbering about a 200-year-old show!

  • Allow me to rephrase that. It's better than watching a couple of OUT OF SYNC old farts jabbering about a 300 year old MOVIE.

  • Want to have some fun? Click the "1911" In the bottom right corner of the video. It's like watching an old cowboy movie!

  • Well this book plug, and Michael Jackson's dad plugging music after his son's death are the most insensitive things ever!

  • Everyone involved with this is creepy.. Also John Landis... WTF!! Why didn't you erase the footage??

God bless Vic Marrow and the children..

  • Here's something you might not have heard of...A MICROPHONE

  • dude, the switch to the book plug is almost as distasteful as the accident ... something that should have been seriously reconsidered ...

  • Yes there doesn't seem to be any remorse or sadness, even though this guy was piloting a chopper that killed 3 people. Yes it wasn't totally in his control, but still it was him flying. It would make me sick to know I was involved in a situation where innocent people were killed esp. 2 little girls.

  • @SinisterDexter1 I think it was one boy and one girl, but your so right, it's like he was talking about going to the store or something that didn't involve the awful death of 3 people. At first I didn't know exactly what to make of it and watched it again, then I got angry then sick.

Yeah, I'm gonna run right out and buy your book mr wingo, duh

  • Wow they're both so amazingly flippant .. and in those ludicrous costumes too. They couldn't give a shit about what happened! It's like, oh no, it wasn't our fault. The ugly side of Hollywood, definitely.

  • Fuck the book, insensitive prick.

  • I mean I understand that he can't live the rest of his life with a gun pointed at his head but shit couldn't he have atleast said "Let's talk about this in an appropriate setting" as well as being more courteous and sensitive to the fact that 3 people were fucking killed....2 of them kids?!?!

The he has the audacity to plug his stupid fucking book that noone cares about. The interviewer is a douche too.

  • I'm confused. The events they talk about happened 28 years ago. Why is it disgusting and inappropriate for this guy to talk about his experience?

  • @hlm23 Its not talking about them thats the problem, its the way they have dealt with what is an incredibly tragic death and totally avoidable. A bunch of "grown-ups" (including the pilot) have managed to create a situation that has killed 2 little girls and an actor..... Then he plugs his book.... shameful.

  • @SinisterDexter1 There was one little girl and one little boy as well as Vic Morrow. Not two little girls.

  • @hlm23 Yes my mistake I misread this somewhere...

  • Disgusting,.. life has no meaning for some.

  • enough talk about the 3 tragic deaths, come buy my new book instead...

  • its like its supposed to be some kind of sketch comedy...

  • Nice book plug!!!!

  • people think this is disrespectful....and it is. But the accident is also posted on youtube, which is horrific beyond words. People have no regard for human life these days. No footage of american kids being killed would be allowed on youtube. This is sad.

  • Mr. Wingo is mistaken: "There's never been a book that covers the subject [of the Twilight Zone Movie helicopter accident]." In fact, Outrageous Conduct (by Stephen Farber) goes in depth behind the accident, the trial, and Landis himself). Written in 1988.

  • It doen't really seem like he cares for nothing more then his job. I'd like to think he has nightmares of what was left of three people from the blades of his chopper

  • I never watched the crash until just a few minutes ago. Vic Morrow knew it was coming. He had both the kids in his arms and looked up and for a split second he knew his life was over. I don't see how John Landis can even look at himself in the mirror. Vic Morrow had told Dick Peabody a week before that he was doing things on the set that should have been done by a stunt double. He said he didn't feel safe like they all did on Combat! under A.D. Flowers.

  • I'm not going to talk about the crash but I have to know, what the f**k is up with this video? did they go back in time?? do places still look like that in america? and whats with the creepy bar tender plugging the book. Was this shot on the set of something or is it a real place??

  • There's something moderately creepy about the pilot dressed up as a cowboy discussing the decapitation of two kids and an adult. Is it just me or is this somewhat insensitive?

  • MGR, exactly. Completely inappropriate atmosphere for this.

And to the host: do your homework next time, buddy. I'd reckon to say I'm about 15 years *younger* than this guy, and have read both books, seen the footage, seen the E! True H. Story on it, etc. If you're going to discuss a tragic event, you may wanna read up on it and take a more respectable approach to the material.

  • It's almost like, "Ok, head flew everwhere but look! Let's move on and make a Western!"

  • It´s sick.

  • Comment removed

  • yep, theres something very dispassionate and disjointed about this whole video. Very creepy.

  • Yes, it's completely bizarre and totally inappropriate!

  • @MGR1900 I agree. This should be handled with more respect towards the victims.-

  • Man I can't keep my eyes off of that Beautiful Saloon Girl in the backround.

  • Landis requested Dorcy"s flyby prematurely. The actors were not in their 'safe' positions. The flight set off the explosions.very sad situation. wolfgangvb

  • And your a know nothing who goes by instinct instead of fact.

  • Wow, like the crash itself, nobody could have predicted the sudden and crass book plug ... luckily the only thing that died this time was my interest in this interview.

And next time guys, just scan the cover of the book and throw it in as an insert.

  • Yeah never mind about the crash here is my book and here is another book I have collecting dust in a warehouse.

  • That poor man has to live with this, and I feel so bad for him.

  • Oh, lord...MORE hippie vegetarian shit. Well, if YOU don't eat meat or wear leather, then that's fine. But don't come out here trying to police people into living YOUR way. I happen to love burgers, and none of this shit has anything to do with the Twilight Zone crash.

  • If you want to read detailed accounts of the trial and crash I reccomend reading Special Effects by Ron Lebreq or Outrageous Conduct Art,Ego,and The Twilight Zone case which I don't remember who wrote it but it should be able to be located by name

  • rallbill,what's your point?

  • two kids died not one

  • Your a dumbass. It was an accident.

  • Guess I will have to eat twice as much meat to cover for the both of us.

  • Humans make mistakes. He was guilt of negligence, perhaps, but not murder. The court had the whole story, you don't.
