I prefer WM7 after the mango update. I have owned a HTC Mozart but then changed to an xperia play and for me WM had a better interface for me. If only it had more apps then i'd switch back. Right now I'm running android but using Launcher7, it has improved the interface but its still slower than an equivalent WM device. This latter reason is why Nokia didn't release a dual core phone as the lumia 800 is just as fast as loading pages as the SGS2 (tried both in shop).

I could see why some people would like the pretty but minimal stylings of WP7 but I personally prefer the slightly busier look of Android, it feels like it does more, though WP7 looks better concentrated. WP7 is elegant, but I don't know if its something the average consumer wants. In fact a lot of consumers are kind of dumb and have little to no sense of art and would not appreciate WP7. iOS is elegant and yet mainstream, I think WP7 falls short and Android has mass appeal. Not that WP7 is bad.
WTF is this? You run CM7 on the HD2 and compare it to HD2 that actually runs WM? Mad respect to the HD2, but do not compare this to "stock" phones. Android runs much better than the HD2 running Ginger look at the millions of vids out there of just say the Evo 4g and fix the camera this is stupid.
@algierssolja You have missed the point. The point of this video was to show people who already owned an HD2 that they can choose between loading WP7 or Android. HD2 owners were stuck, because it came stock with WM6.5 and many bought them with the understanding that it would be upgradable to WP7, but it was not. So your statement about comparing to stock phones is not correct. If you reply to me, sorry, I probably wont read it. thanks for your comment.
@jykazu sorry i misunderstood. I figured anybody still with an hd2 would only have it because of the versatility of the device. Its probably the most hack friendly phone to date. Most htc wm6.x phones were.

Can't you search for youtube from the home screen and launch it? If not, you scrolling through ALL those apps to find it would get annoying after awhile. It reminds me of the old days of iPhone and Android to find a contact...scroll, scroll, scroll, oh there it is now I can call. Too much scrolling and flicking.
I'm an iPhone owner, but if I had to buy another phone, the w7 phone would be it. It is simply a fantastic and NOVEL interface. Android is merely a copy of the iOS interface.
@fermie125 "patent infringements" -alleged. Many mfg are counter suing. "huge royalty fees to..." Only HTC is paying microsoft money. 5 dollars per phone. That's cheaper than a drawn out patent lawsuit. No carriers have been sued. "you WILL be sued." That hasn't happened. Nice fud. "WP7" In what world?? Every time I look in my Target, costco all carry more androids. "Google it." Lmao, shouldn't you be telling me to bing it??
Oops, my mistake. I used the term "carriers" to define manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, etc. Should have said "manufacturers" instead of "carriers". My bad. The point is still valid. Microsoft makes 5x more money off Android than it does from WP7, which is in its infancy. And that income stream could jump when Samsung settles its lawsuit with Microsoft, requiring $15/phone. Bottom line is Microsoft will succeed whether its from their own phones or others.
Seriously? If your gonna argue about phones, fact and figures dont count. Its the actual user ability that counts.. Make your judgements on things that you haver actually experienced. Like me. I've had 3 android phones, two iPhones and am now with a windows phone 7. And in my own opinion it beats them all. Doesn't crash, beautiful to operate, so much can be done with them and there functional. Android in terms of performance varies a lot from phone to phone, and iOS is gettin old. WP7 FTW!
1) They were the first to market with an OPEN platform. Microsoft had the opportunity to come in and deliver a better platform, they failed and are now playing catch up (like IOS 5 will do in September emulating key android features.)
2) The open is the important part, any manufacturer can make an android platform phone, any carrier can carry it. This is the same thing that helped Microsoft Windows dominate the Mac OS. Apple is too controlling.
There is a serious problem with your reasoning. The Android OS has so many patent infringements that carriers are either getting sued or having to pay huge royalty fees to Apple, Microsoft, Oracle, Nokia, and other patent holders. Android really isn't "free" because if you are a carrier selling Android phones you WILL be sued. Carriers weary of paying billions in patent infringements are seeing WP7 (which has no infringements) as a viable alternative. Don't believe me? Google it.
@mbuel 1) Microsoft has not failed. However, it has yet to actually succeed too. Android already has MANY years to mature and WP7 is only about to release its 2nd major update and it is certainly looking to kick some ass.
2) And no, an OS being open means that it will most likely/surely lag. Just look at the video and compare which OS is smoother. imo, user experience is of much more importance.
@Tuntsa40 Nope. Obviously apps and games cost money but you dont need to subscribe to XBOX live and pay money. You can make an account and join for free, and if you already have an XBOX account, just sign in with your ID.
I love the WP7 metro OS, it's so easy to use. Although the Android has some great features, but I think Gingerbread is not going to come into its own until the next gen of phones arrive later this year. I think it depends what you want your phone for, Android has lovely apps and soon will have monster graphics thanks to Nvidia, and WP7 is an absolute breeze to use. Both are better than iPhone - seriously! I'd take either over an Apple :)
I have this phone and I Dual- Boot both (WP7 from NAND) & Android (From SD Card). WP7 is more elegant and smoother scrolling... but it's BORING and it lacks so much . I only use it when I'm trying to save battery because there is no Multi-Tasking. I use Android 80% of the time. Simply because the Facebook & Twitter apps are better, I can HotSpot Tether, The notification system is better, and I can Multi-Task. Also I can copy/paste songs...no Zune. I like both OS better than iOS though.
@dangergodboy how is android ugly, windows phone is like browsing an OS while zoomed in too far, all the titles overflowing onto other screens. so much unessential scrolling and no picture icons. words are harder to read in a sea of coloured tiles that individual pictured icons
@ehdave100 Agreed. On the other hand, I am concerned how microsoft came out with OS that showing a lot of graphical animations so smoothly... Android still shows little lag, even on 2 GHz CPU (mostly only while zooming on web page). The fact that windows caught up so quicky creeping me out.
@fiscidtox Perhaps I did not expressed my self clearly. What I actually ment, was 1GHz dual core. Witch (coverted from PC's Dual core CPUs). suppost to be aproximitly 1.75GHz. I know its not pure 2GHz, but... close enough. ANYWAY. Compared to iPhone, today's Androids still shows a little lag now or than. As I said earlier zooming and scrolling web pages.
@ehdave100 Just FYI, those tiles on WP7 are essentially pictures. Also, the live tiles display much more information that all the bunch of useless tiles on Android. And you must be blind if you think the words are harder to read. Also, you might be really stupid if the icon/picture doesn't tell you what tapping on that tile will lead you to. In fact, I don't even have to read what's on the tile, just scroll down/up and can almost immediately find my desired tile. I mean, I am normal. Are you?
@tarozeero I don't mean to flame but, you aren't normal; graphical user interfaces (GUI)s use 4 things windows, icons, menus, pointers. My problem with wm7 is its icons are more like long menus with each option encased in a coloured "tile". These are not icons.
When every tile is green (for example) you do have to read them to differentiate between them, and this will take longer. "picture speaks 1000 words"
also live tiles are similar to widgets and cant be compared with icons.
@ehdave100 they areicons. google what icon means (didn't mean it in a harsh tone). And it's WP7, not wm7. And fyi, most apps do have their own graphic/pictorial icons. And no, I don't read the icons to find out which tile i'm looking for most of the time. I KNOW what and where it is simply because every tile has a distinct difference between them. It's as fast as finding an app on my ipod touch.

hey, does anyone has info regarding voice inputs, like android lets u send message, email and navigation with your voice.does windows have those feature.does windows have inbuilt gps application or market application(so that i dont have to pay att for navigation).
The lag in Gingerbread that your phone shows is probably because of a CONSERVATIVE kernel, use on demand or interactive/smartass. I'm running CM7 without any Lag.
@Robrob007 I already explained in my comments about why it is laggy. The launcherpro homescreen I use is set to try the 3d effects and I did not optimize the memory use. I set it another way and it is not laggy,I am not complaining.
@Robrob007 Thanks for looking. Sorry, I should have tweaked my LauncherPro homescreen before I made this video. I was going for the longest battery life at the time and set things a certain way that made the launcher lag a little. My kernel, however, was already set for interactive, but the launcher was not set to cache home screens, so it lagged anyway. It is not longer lagging. I will upload another comparisons, but this time for performance. This one was not for performance.
@jykazu Thanks for the feedback. I have never tried the 3D option in launcher pro because even with the stock app drawer, the scrolling is choppy. Which one do you use everyday? I 've heard that the incall volume for WP7 is a little low, also the camera button is odd in the HD2, and you need a lot of hacking to get Live services running.
@Robrob007 I use both. WinP7 is my personal phone and Gingerbread is my work phone. Both sync to the same things. The launcher pro works fine with my current settings. Not choppy at all. I also heard you have to hack a lot. It is not too bad. Mostly, the phone needs to register itself as an HD7. There is a registry addition for that. Or if you can get the registry editor, you can set the hklm\ident yourself.
@Robrob007 After that, you will probably need to get an activation key from Microsoft support, if you want live services to work. That is the hardest part.
@Robrob007 After that, you will probably need to get an activation key from Microsoft support, if you want live services to work. That is the hardest part. Mine is working fine.
@07liberian Yes. It does seem that way. It is because I installed a custom home screen called LauncherPro and turned on the 3d effects. I should compare the graphocs in another video and I should not use it. This video was not to compare graphics. I blurred things a bit so it would not show any screen information. But the windows phone screen is also not customizable. When scrolling, it changes to a low resolution mode and appears faster. I like both.
@07liberian Hey I just want to add to your question. Android is really customizable, so you can make it look and act any way you want. My phone looks nothing like android. It is a really clean minimalist interface. A mondrian art background, the time/weather displayed in text. Really cool stuff.
@jykazu That is hard right now, because the first year always is limiting on a new product. As a phone and email communication device, the windows phone 7 is much better than anything I have tried, including an iphone. But it currently has very few applications and some things need improvement. iphone was the same way the first year. Android is fun, but better as a tablet, not a phone.

The lag in Gingerbread that your phone shows is probably because of a CONSERVATIVE kernel, use on demand or interactive/smartass. I'm running CM7 without any Lag.
Robrob007 1 year ago

Robrob007 1 year ago
@Robrob007 I use both. WinP7 is my personal phone and Gingerbread is my work phone. Both sync to the same things. The launcher pro works fine with my current settings. Not choppy at all. I also heard you have to hack a lot. It is not too bad. Mostly, the phone needs to register itself as an HD7. There is a registry addition for that. Or if you can get the registry editor, you can set the hklm\ident yourself.

@Robrob007 After that, you will probably need to get an activation key from Microsoft support. That is the hardest part.

Android Is Laggy
07liberian 1 year ago
@07liberian Yes. It does seem that way. It is because I installed a custom home screen called LauncherPro and turned on the 3d effects. I should compare the graphocs in another video and I should not use it. This video was not to compare graphics. I blurred things a bit so it would not show any screen information. But the windows phone screen is also not customizable. When scrolling, it changes to a low resolution mode and appears faster. I like both.

@jykazu Ok You Like Both But If You Had To Make A Choice Which Would You Choose And Why ?
07liberian 1 year ago
@07liberian Hey I just want to add to your question. Android is really customizable, so you can make it look and act any way you want. My phone looks nothing like android. It is a really clean minimalist interface. A mondrian art background, the time/weather displayed in text. Really cool stuff.

@jykazu That is hard right now, because the first year always is limiting on a new product. As a phone and email communication device, the windows phone 7 is much better than anything I have tried, including an iphone. But it currently has very few applications and some things need improvement. iphone was the same way the first year. Android is fun, but better as a tablet, not a phone.

@07liberian I have 2.3 on my HD2. I used a recent rom and it runs way smoother than the build jykazu is running.
It's pretty awesome. I used MDJ's CyanogenMod 7 (v. 2.6.) A2SD+
