@DevaSaar we can send you a check, care of the OC Transpo HQ. Your challenge will be to find another employer who terminated 7990. We asked him for a copy of his resume and he provided it. We also asked about previous terminations, and he answered that question also. There are none.
After some discussion with some of Alan's old co workers, I find this whole discussionoffensive. Why did he feel there need to put his hands on a co worker? He was taking pictures again arms she asked him to stop. He did not, and confronted turned violent. Period.
@steveaustin71 Steve, we will give you $1000 if you can provide PROOF 7990 did what you claim. No kidding, $1000. We make this offer as we are certain you cannot provide proof for what did not happen.
@steveaustin71 Steve, the fact is a female operator struck 7990 in the drivers lounge. The fact is 7990 never took any photos of anyone aside from those of the pirated DVD transactions. There were witnesses to 7990 being struck. He turned and walked away after being struck. No need for proof, if you don't want the $1000. Your choice.
@WarmachineVengeance Are you aware a condition of employment at the City of Ottawa is an obligation to report unauthorized activity in the work place. Failure to do so is actually grounds for dismissal. I know because I read about the requirement on a web site.
@wesupport7990 Look I am sincerely sorry u or ur friend lost their job that must be rough, but you'd still have it if you'd have minded ur own business, despite "company policy" There is no crime without a victim. Just accept that u made a mistake and move on and learn from it. In many other spheres u would have lost much more than a job snitching like u did.
@WarmachineVengeance 7990 is gainfully employed and quite happy as of our last conversation. Our purpose wasn't so much connected to 7990 loosing his job, it was WHY he lost his job. There never should have existed the situation of pirated DVDs in the drivers lounge when 7990 started working. It should have been cleaned up a long time ago. The working environment is disfunctional, that is what we want the public to realize.
@wesupport7990 Where in the employment contract is trading dvd's mentioned? Where in the conditions of employment does it mention that filming on OCTRANSPO property is allowed? Because there is actually a bylaw that makes it illegal to film on property... repeated infractions by an employee would be pretty valid reasons for termination I would think.
@steveaustin71 you are stuck in a mental loop, repeating over and over the baseless rumours floating around OC Transpo. The following is something you might want to think about carefully. A group of us will be riding the buses this weekend recording bus drivers in action. If we capture any rude bus operator behaviour you'll see it posted here. We will make a special effort to record the faces of the drivers. Are you working this weekend Steve Austin 71 ?
@wesupport7990 You actually think I would work for OCTRANSPO? Sorry fella, they do not pay enough. And as for "baseless rumors" I guess the same could be said for you couldn't it? You have fun riding buses with cameras, sounds like an exciting hobby. I wouldn't get caught, its likely to be expensive and painful.
@steveaustin71 perhaps you missed the mayor's announcement, as well as the head of the transit committee. the bylaw regarding cameras on buses is out dated. they won't be prosecuting anyone.
@wesupport7990 Well thats good news! I'm betting however that the union folks don't cooperate with that particular announcement... aaannyyway, not real sure what you think you are accomplishing with this whole thing, fact is, the guy made himself hated by most of his coworkers, got dismissed, and you are, based on HIS information, saying that 100's of people are lying about him. Ask yourself why he would have such opposition? and if his identity ever gets linked to this page? prolly not good.
@steveaustin71 actually, 7990 was only hated by a very small number of small minded OC Transpo drivers. We have even spoken with a few who really were happy 7990 stepped forward, just sad the small minded drivers had the power to have him released from employment. For a moment, they say, there was light at the end of the tunnel. What are we doing? We hope to shine even light upon the drivers who make being a passenger very unpleasant.
@steveaustin71 Since you have not worked at OC Transpo, you can't begin to imaging the rumour machine they have there. The rumours about 7990 were so bizarre they were impossible. There were rumours about events that just could not have happened, unless 7990 worked 24 hours a day and could be in three different places at the same time. More amazing is how fast the new rumours were believed and spread.
@steveaustin71 funny you should mention the pay at OC. 7990 now has a Mon-Fri day job that pays better than OC did. We often ask him why he ever wanted to work at OC. He never has an answer. :)
@wesupport7990 . . . and a popular youtube video can actually earn a lot of money. we are going to spend the day riding the buses and see what we can see.
why the hell should they keep a rat at anyjob .... buddy did u knw that this alain rolston was fired for many jobs prior to OC Transpo for the exact same reason he got fired at OC ... NO ONE WANTS TO HAVE A RAT IN A COMPANY !!!!!!
Alan was the author of his own misfortune. Hemay well be a good driver but he does not give value to OCTranspo. He was photographing fellow employees in order to cause them to be disciplined or dismissed.
Please explain how reporting inappropriate activity, in his work place, in any way invalidates his skills and abilities as a bus operator? What is mind boggling (to us) is OC Transpo and the City of Ottawa train the bus operators on the correct course of action when inappropriate activity is observed, and then send these new hires to work in a place where they know illegal activity is taking place every day.
@wesupport7990 Again, which inappropriate conduct? This is Canada... there are currently no provincial, federal or municipal laws against sharing dvd's. NONE. There are however the discretionary rights of an employer to terminate employment. What case are you trying to make exactly? The guy alienated his co-workers and made their work environment hostile. He repeatedly filmed employee's against policy. He assaulted one according to her complaint. Luckily there were no charges.
@steveaustin71 do you believe all the rumours floating around OC Transpo? 7990 was assaulted by a female bus operator, not the other way around. Also, the ONLY photos 7990 captured were of the people SELLING pirated DVDs. I've seen the photos and the video you can clearly see money changing hands while the DVDs are changing hands.
@steveaustin71 no charges? I'll have to ask 7990 about that as at one point he was considering pressing assault charges against the person who assaulted him.
All the people who were interviewed had access to all relevant information.
At this time, Operator 7990 is not an employee of the City of Ottawa.
Furthermore, 7990 informed Mr. Mercier of the events which led to his unjust termination of employment and also informed Mr. Mercier there were people who supported 7990 and would energetically protest the termination. Thus you see the ongoing results of our energetic protest.
@steveaustin71 you have no evidence because there is no evidence. The fact is 7990 was released from employment because the unionized workers were making threats against his life and there was nothing OC Transpo could do to protect him. The only action 7990 ever took was reporting the distribution of pirated DVDs in the drivers lounges. He didn't do anything to warrant being released from his job.
So you really think that stirring up resentment over something you don't agree with in a drivers lounge isn't something that a company would dismiss you from your job for? Distributing copies for no profit is LEGAL in Canada. We pay a surcharge on the blank discs for that reason. He was stirring up trouble with his co-workers. That's a good way to get fired at ANY job. Don't believe me? Try it! See what happens. I wouldn't want to work with the guy either. He's a douchebag.
