The fairy tail is about Germany as a victim of all of the wars. 1919 - Poland regain its independence. Russia just wanted a revenge for that. We only protected ourselves. 1939 - Poland was attacked by Germany. 1945 - Poland was betrayed by the West and given up to Communist Russia. Winners write the history.

Und auch da macht es recht wenig Sinn, vorher dem Gegner zu sagen, daß man dann und dann kommt und so und so angreifen möchte. Von daher würde ich sagen, daß das schon recht effektiv war (bei geringen Risiko). Und die gute SX ist noch mal richtig berühmt geworden.
schade nur, dass der ganze Angriff so perfide war, dass er nur ein Schandfleck in der Geschichte der deutschen Armee ist. Das Schiff war nämlich seit Tagen zu einem Freundschaftsbesuch in Danzig. Eine wahrhaftig feige Tat. Schande!
Na, willst Du ein modernes Schiff für solch eine Aufgabe riskieren? Was wäre denn, wenn sich die Polen doch tapfer gewehr hätten? Dann hätten wir vermutlich ein modernes Schiff in kürzester Zeit verloren. Ne, das war so schon richtig. Nicht zu viel riskoeren. Und man sieht ja, daß es gereicht hat.
So ganz kann ich dem nicht folgen. Schließlich war man sich der Gefahr bewuss, da man auf beiden Seiten schon seit längerem auf einen Krieg zusteuerte. Bereits am 30. August wurde in Polen die Mobilmachung angeordnet, die auch sehr erfolgreich anlief. Das man da keine Abwehrmaßnahmen ergriffen hat und die Wachkompanie der Westerplatte nicht verstärkt hat ist mir militärisch nicht einleuchtend. Leider höchstens der Gründung eines Heldenmythos würdig, denn: Man hat die Leute dort geopfert.
Der Knackpunkt ist, dass Polen nicht auf so einen Luftkrieg vorbereitet war. Der Angriff der SMS hat nichts gebracht. Erst als am Abend des 2.September um 18.00 und 18.45 die ersten Angriffe mit Stukas geflogen wurden hat sich das Blatt gewendet. Unterstützung konnten die Polen nicht anfordern, man wurde ja auf ganzer Linie angegriffen + der Russe im Osten. Die Eroberung Polens war kein Kunststück, es war einfach "zwei gegen einen" + die Flächenbombardierungen.
Stimmt genau; der SH hätte es an dieser Stelle nicht gebraucht. Es gab an der Stelle auch nichts, wonach das Schiff ja dann auch bald nach Gotenhafen auslief um dort Landtruppen mit Küstenbombardements zu unterstützen.
Die Russen marschierten übrg. erst am 17. September in Ost-Polen ein - man kann von einem zwei-gegen-einen jedenfalls bis dahin nicht sprechen. Da gab es nämlich kaum noch polnische Armee. Anfangs wurden Russen v.d. Polen sogar fälschlicherweise als Retter begrüßt.

The same was true of Stalingrad, when the Germans ran out of food and ammunition the Reds hit them with everything they had, it still took 3 weeks to get them to surrender. Ich habe ein Problem mit der unehrenhaften Kriegsführung, die höchstens eines Feiglings würdig ist.

Dude, first of all, Gdansk in a period of time since 1919 it was a Free Town of Gdansk under special care of Nation Leage. But it was mostly Polish city. In the past Gdansk was also Polish, because Teutonic Knights didn't own the city Even when they had Eastern Prussia. They were only blocking the way to Gdansk that King Jagiello's people couldn't get to the shipyards. Hitler wanted to join Gdansk to The 3 rd Reich, But our Prime Minister Bek said "No, Gdansk is Polish City"

Since you mention history... the Germans didn't bombard or destroy Danzig. As they focused their fire onto the Westerplatte as well as on the Polish telegraph station, the only major Polish installations within the city.
Then, the free City of Danzig census of 1923 states a population of 366.730 with of 95% Germans. That much to its "mixed" population. By 1929 had already dropepd by 1/3 to 256.403, this telling a lot about the economic and social strain put on the people there.

I think you will find that the German army was outnumbered 6 to 1 on the Russian front, a brutal fight were hand to hand combat was common. The same was true of Stalingrad, when the Germans ran out of food and ammunition the Reds hit them with everything they had, it still took 3 weeks to get them to surrender.
