@DemonticKitty MGM shut down their animation studio in the 1960s when TV grew in popularity; they were really shortsighted when they and other studios were paranoid that theaters would be replaced by the new medium. They attempted to restart their studio decades later, but the products they made (outside of Don Bluth's early films) were shit.

If you want a better film than "Soul Plane", I recommend the classic 80's film "Airplane!". That one is a classic with Robert Hayes, Leslie Neilson, and a few others. It had some great moments. The movie has Peter Graves from "Mission: Impossible" saying "Have you seen a grown man naked?" Or Leslie would say "Don't call me Shirley!" this is a film for you to watch. "Airplane!" is tips for the best comedy of the 80's.

I hate the shit out of this movie. They tried to do a blaxplotation movie in the 2000s and that just doesn't work. Even though I'm black and love blaxplotation movies, they were racist. This movie is just full of stereotypes. It was embracing African American stereotypes instead of making fun them and showing the ridiculousness of them (Coonskin did that perfectly.) I do agree though the soundtrack is great. Great review.
