  • My first amp was a Lanzar. Turns out it was about the worst amp you can buy. Cheap components, small caps, crappy transformers, low damping factor. I blew five subs with that thing. Upgraded to an Alpine and wow what a difference! Get an Alpine PDX series. They have the most advanced and efficient amplifier circuitry on the market.

  • That amp isn't a good match for the sub... I own a 15" TC-1000 prototype and believe me, you have an SQ sub that is matched with a very non-SQ amp.

I've played with the TC-1000 coils alot and if your amp was really putting out 2,000 RMS, your coil would be gone. I can blow a TC-1k coil off a single Kicker ZR-600, that tested out to be putting out around 720 watts RMS.

Plan on one dollar per watt from manufacture(new). The ZR-600 sold for just over $1 a watt and it has very good SQ.

  • @the9876543 Good advice.

  • @the9876543 right lol, the aq-3500d puts out 4400w rms clean power, but costs only like $8-900 shipped direct from aq, the sundown audio saz-4500d puts out 4500w rms clean power, costs only $12-1300 shipped from the ssa store, so you would be nuts to pay $1 per watt, the the aq 20k would cost $8000, but its $1800, so yeah, just go with a decent brand amp like audioque, digital designs, sundown audio, or zapco just to name a few........

  • @butterfenco Your correct on that. Prices are pretty good for outrageously high powered amps these days. I guess now you just need to do your research and pay attention to the fuse ratings. Also, when people say that the aq-3500d puts out 4.4kw, ask them the measured THD @ 4.4kw, lol.

Can't tell ya now many people have said an amp is awesome and "under rated", yet it's fused at 200-300 watts BELOW the rated power. You don't get something out of nothing, and no amp is 100% efficient ether.

  • @the9876543 this is true, but im pretty sure that the brands i named do rated power at their rated THD, but i have never owned any of the above amps either, soo, i think we have just collaberated to make a good what to buy haha, but yeah, im buying a aq 2200d here in a few months for a tc axis 15", should slam :)

  • @butterfenco Yeah, I'm sure all those do their rated power @ THD, its just the peeps that say they do 1kw over rated lol.

The 2200d sounds good, and if your looking to buy a TC Sounds Axis/TC-3000, I'd suggest looking on some car audio forums for them used. They can go for $300 used, vs. $450 new. I personally own two TC-3k Neo 15's, and they are very nice for SQL. If you can find a TC-3k top and a X2 neo motor to match, you'll cut the weight in half for the same output too.

  • is that a good amp. i have an alpine type r 12 inch sub. i was wondering if it would be a good amp for it. thanks.

  • My rule of thumb is go with cheap wattage. Always check the rms wattage and make sure it matches the rms watts for the sub woofer.

  • @joshbarrett86 You don't really have to do that. The Sub can be more then by a amp by a certain margin. Obv you don't want a 4kw sub powering off a 400w. But as long as he keeps his gains down and does't go full tilt. He won't kill that sub, but in that box it hardly gets loud so he prob will try to bump it up a little.

  • @dawsondawson2008 any 500.1 to 1000w Mono amp will be fine with that sub. Depending on the coils of course. Also that sub has barely any sound quality to it but its a good pretty loud sub for the money for a starting bumper for sure.

lol So its not picky with a decent sized amp. Run it in 1ohm with a 1ohm stable amp but the sub will just sound worse. recomended brands. Sundown Audio, older school USAmps, Memphis. List can go on.
