The DC2 is more fun to drive, straight line acceleration gets very boring and is wasted on the road these days. Show them some bends and the itr wins no contest, its not built to drag or out accelerate more powerful cars, its built to perform on a circuit. I guess that this is a clip from a full comparison of the two and you have to ask why would they compare them with a 50bhp and ~60ft.lbs of torque gap? Having owned both i know why and i also know which one i kept.

Living in Okinawa Japan for the past few years and driving with all kinds of cars against my mr2 ive only lost a few times to those damn GTRs (r32 and r33 mostly). A type R WILL NOT out perform a mid engine mounted turbo car regardless of what you think, or have driven in the past. Also, the video is terrible quality and quite tell what year the mr2 is, but an 89-92 has about 200 hp to the crank, vs 93+ having 240 to the crank.

Advanced Climate controls,crusie control, etc. The 2j supra was prob the last of the jap supercars to come out. Thev 1jz before it, again it was a decent engine but the car was very sluggish. The 2jz supra is a great platform.. but far from being the best in japan.

I would say MR2 N/A given type R treatment, ie improved breaks, light weight, retuned suspension and hand tuned engine, it will only be faster than ITR, and likely to be as fast as stock MR2 turbo if not faster.

The type R has basically 200hp/140tq fwd, the JDM MR2 has basically 245hp/215tq rwd With the MR2 weighing only 200lbs more why wouldn't it win? The MR2 looks closer to a Ferrari 355 than a probe...Early NSX had those flip up lights does it look like a probe?

People tend to forget that when you mod a turbo mr2 you gotta geta new fuel system and get it tuned. Possibly a new turbo If you wanna run high boost. The mr2s are only good for about 12 psi on a standard engine (mainly because of the very limited ecu).
But if you wanted it to be reliable you would get it tuned to get the most out of it. Youd want to replace the fuel pump and injectors atleast. Mr2s injectors max out around 150Kw also (Coz we wouldnt want detonation).
That's the case with USDM mr2's. The video is about JDM mr2's.Also to get rid of the fuel cut @ 13psi on stock usdm mr2's, there's a fuel fut defender that can be bought to raise it/eliminate it. Or u can make a home made one for less than $10.
The JDM injectors which are 540cc/min are well capable of delivering fuel past the 300whp mark without >90% duty cycle. As for the Fuel pump. A walbro 255lph sells around 100bucks, so not that expensive.
Are you kidding? Mr2s are bulletproof compared to gsr integras (If serviced regularly). I used to have an integra economical and reliable but i went for an mr2 FTW. Iv had her for almost 3 years now. Still going hard at 240XXX km. Still internaly sweet.

The DC2 is more fun to drive, straight line acceleration gets very boring and is wasted on the road these days. Show them some bends and the itr wins no contest, its not built to drag or out accelerate more powerful cars, its built to perform on a circuit. I guess that this is a clip from a full comparison of the two and you have to ask why would they compare them with a 50bhp and ~60ft.lbs of torque gap? Having owned both i know why and i also know which one i kept.

@timmyXx101xX BS. The mr2 is MADE for corners and circuit type. Living in Okinawa Japan for the past few years and driving with all kinds of cars against my mr2 ive only lost a few times to those damn GTRs (r32 and r33 mostly). A type R WILL NOT out perform a mid engine mounted turbo car regardless of what you think, or have driven in the past. Also, the video is terrible quality and quite tell what year the mr2 is, but an 89-92 has about 200 hp to the crank, vs 93+ having 240 to the crank.

The MR-S is better still but the previous MR2s are not great handling cars and are not as fun as an ITR. The video clearly states 245ps or 240bhp they wouldn't make it up. Even if it were the older pre94 220hp model you're missing the point. still a VERY 1 SIDED CLIP.

@ClutchingintheMoment Seven, the MR-S weighs ~900kg and is renowned for its fantastic handling, its far far better than the previous 2nd gen MR2 and its even better handling than the ITR, however it does lack power. But, again POWER IS NOT EVERYTHING grow up. Eight, ha ha ha ha.....you have a lot to learn about the dynamics of a car. Believe what you will, your MR2 is the bestest thing everer. @BL4STIN Everyone was playing catch up to Nissan. Mitsubishi was first after them in late 1990 to realse 4ws, but with awd. Over 300hp twin turbo engine. Active aerodynamics on the car. Advanced Climate controls,crusie control, etc. The 2j supra was prob the last of the jap supercars to come out. Thev 1jz before it, again it was a decent engine but the car was very sluggish. The 2jz supra is a great platform.. but far from being the best in japan.

The comparison is stupid.
Toyota never offer anything at the hardcore level of Honda TypeRs, simply they have different marketing strategies.
I would say MR2 N/A given type R treatment, ie improved breaks, light weight, retuned suspension and hand tuned engine, it will only be faster than ITR, and likely to be as fast as stock MR2 turbo if not faster.
Again, both are good cars.

nop i dont have vids i have better things to do then drive around with a camera or film shit .
we dont do drag anyway . we do more of a touge .
2 cars go down this 7 mile road with 27 corners on it . and see if you can loose him . then you go back the other way with the other leading . we dont live in the city . we can actually use our cars . if i want real speed i get on my d16rr and give it a ripp . 205 bhp and weighs 377 pounds . if you even know what a d16 is. it ripps apart 500+hpcars

yea , you can say what you want , but until they put out a car with more hp per litre n/a i dont give a shit . honda engineering i feel is better . real cars dont have turbos. any real engineer wants 100 hp per litre n/a ex bmw m3 ,dc2 type r , 911 gt3 , carrera gt . ferrari f430 . even a zonda falls short of that feat as good as they are . not that impressive given the engine size .

The type R has basically 200hp/140tq fwd, the JDM MR2 has basically 245hp/215tq rwd With the MR2 weighing only 200lbs more why wouldn't it win? The MR2 looks closer to a Ferrari 355 than a probe...Early NSX had those flip up lights does it look like a probe?

People tend to forget that when you mod a turbo mr2 you gotta geta new fuel system and get it tuned. Possibly a new turbo If you wanna run high boost. The mr2s are only good for about 12 psi on a standard engine (mainly because of the very limited ecu).

The Jdm turbo is capable of running 18psi+ to redline no probs, and the stock jdm ecu can handle it.The stock fuel system is good up to 300whp or so.

There are MANY stock fuel, stock turbo 300whp+ mr2's out there. And that's in the US (gen 2 3sgte, less powerful engine).
Just need to know what to upgrade, and you'll be there.
300whp Mr2 if driven right is capable of high/mid 12's in the 1'4. without slicks. Do that with a usdm crap gsr

But if you wanted it to be reliable you would get it tuned to get the most out of it. Youd want to replace the fuel pump and injectors atleast. Mr2s injectors max out around 150Kw also (Coz we wouldnt want detonation).

That's the case with USDM mr2's. The video is about JDM mr2's.Also to get rid of the fuel cut @ 13psi on stock usdm mr2's, there's a fuel fut defender that can be bought to raise it/eliminate it. Or u can make a home made one for less than $10.

The JDM injectors which are 540cc/min are well capable of delivering fuel past the 300whp mark without >90% duty cycle. As for the Fuel pump. A walbro 255lph sells around 100bucks, so not that expensive.

Are you sure your on the JDM ECU?
JDm ecu's fuel cut is 18psi. Run a cel diagnostics check and see what code your throwing.

Are you kidding? Mr2s are bulletproof compared to gsr integras (If serviced regularly). I used to have an integra economical and reliable but i went for an mr2 FTW. Iv had her for almost 3 years now. Still going hard at 240XXX km. Still internaly sweet.

Read the reviews and you will be surprised...a 2009 GTi is still slower than a 91 MR2 Turbo, so I'd say yes a K20 would be slower.
