Holy Cow! I remember my mum hiring this on video for my sister and I when we were kids. The bit where the monkey-dudes get slaughtered made me cry. Then when those leprosy guys turned up in the cave I freaked out and had nightmares after. Yep, not ashamed to say I ran the full gamut of human emotions (as a child) during Ironmaster. What an amazing film.
Only a French narration could make this QUEST FOR FIRE-meets-CONAN movie 'appear' cool...one of Lenzi's weaker flicks...some of the wigs are frightenly obvious (do not take my word for it...rewatch the clip if you want)
So they'r wearin wigs ?.... Who really gives a shit ?! That really seems like a pretty tedious and insignificant thing to pick on. I certainly wouldn't go down-grading the entire movie simply on acount of THAT.
Well, I agree that this flick is no Quest For Fire, but I wouldn't diss it altogether ( because of a few tacky flaws). This movie actually has a pretty good story to it. It's a kind of prehistoric parable about the arms-race.
Lenzi, as far as I know, usualy made really sick & sadistic horror and exploitation flicks ( Eaten Alive, Make Them Die Slowly and the like ), so this particular movie here was really kind of out of his usual character ( dont get me wrong though,.. I like to watch a good sick violent horror & exploitation flick every now and again ).
@Skulldini It's pretty bad, but not REAL bad. It's watchable, even to the point of enjoyable. (so long as expectations aren't excessive) It's 1 of those "gotta be in the mood for it" flicks. I have it on VHS w/clam shell case. Quest For Fire, now there's a movie! 1 of my all time favorites. It's in my "Top 100". There's just so many great movies, I'm the type who can't pick "1" (or even a top 10) favorite movie.
I loved all the music in this flick, even the stuff ripped right out of MOUNTAIN OF THE CANNIBAL GOD. Despite the low budget, Lenzi managed to keep this one from being as boring as the other 80's CONAN ripoffs... though this owes more to QUEST FOR FIRE. Call it QUEST FOR IRON.
Because, he's the one that defeated the apes...

I'm not 'picking on it'.
This happens to be one of Lenzi's weaker efforts.
The problem is not waering wigs...the problem, among others is them looking sooooo fake.

You are entitled to your opinion and I'm to mine.
I happen to admire some of Lenzi's work and I'm not doiná see-how-cool-I-am-by-dissing-Bmovies-routine here.
By the way, QUEST FOR FIRE is very pretentious.

Ironmaster!! Fucking awensome, Lenzi Rules!

'Iron Master' is an interesting film.
It is more akin to a Cave-Man type movie than the Sword & Sandals genre.

I've always had a soft spot for the sitar-accompanied grunting theme...
