  • She clearly has overshined Viola Davis.I feel so bad for Viola. She deserves to win an Oscar this year. This reminds me a lot of Beyonce and Jeniffer Hudson for Dreamgirls a few years ago.

  • DAMN I LOVE HER RESPONSE TO ALL THE QUESTIONS...WHAT AN AWESOME WOMAN SHE IS!

  • She won for a stereotypical role......

  • Why are people so IGNORANT oh my GOD you people will never change i swear the world will come to an END with people hating other RACE, AND SHE'S FAT BECAUSE SHE WANTS TO BE FULL FIGURED NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO LOOK LIKE A PENCIL!! SHE'S HAPPY OBVIOUSLY YOU ARE NOT HAPPY WITH YOUR LIFE TO JUDGE SOMEONE ELSE...

  • The Help is a truth probably a lot of folks hate to know. American dream happens and envy gets in the mix without realizing the hard work behind the glitter.

  • @supahotmusicboi I'm just being realistic, sorry, but it's true, there's nothing special in her performance, at the end of the year there was no more oscar worthy material for black actors, and that was the reason The Help was started to be promoted to the Oscars, so, it was more a politically correct movement (remember that the past year when no one black actor/movie/director/ earned a nomination. And, anyone can say what they want, that's the great thing about this awards, sorry, but its true

  • @supahotmusicboi A great film about black women (which I don't hate) is Pariah, see it, I'm not racist, it's just that it's not fair that she will win the oscar

  • @rocknrolladan i saw the movie, and her performance was totally 100% oscar worthy...maybe this movie is more personal to me cause im from mississippi??!?! but there are other ways to express your disagreement of this film OTHER than calling octavia fat....you dont think these people read the comments we post on here?? :P

  • @rocknrolladan R u OK??? You have the right to your opinion but I m mean seriously. Nicole Kidman, Catherine Zeta Jones, Renee Zellwegger have all won Oscars. That doesn't mean that the roles that they have been playing (after they won the awards) have not been terrific either. Some of them are M.I.A

  • Firstly, Melissa McCarthy should take notes on how to dress a big woman's body! Melissa NEVER does it right!

Octavia is an ABSOLUTE complete breath of fresh air from that pretentious Monique! Monique ruined her career by burning bridges before she collected her own materials.

Octavia is intelligent, articulate, funny and most importantly she's real. :) I hope she works for a LONG TIME, with the biggest and the best.

  • little better but so much stronger black performances in lead roles this year given it to her cause she got less time other movies like shame not considered to make her look better but still week performance same old mammy big mouth role normally to older fat woman so they can get less work lena horne too sexy for "black" characters so she didnt get a lot of work now they still do that stopping lead girls getting the award and give it to the supporting one instead.

  • "I am afraid of her, I saw Salt. Did you see Salt? Yeah, she could take me." :)

  • JUST LOVE HER!!!!

  • Both actresses were excellent in the movie, but I saw this movie before I found out that the author base main character of her book on the life of Ablene Cooper who says the book's character "Aibeleen" who, like her, is a middle aged black nanny with a gold tooth whose son died before she started working for her employers is based on her and she finds the portrayal humiliating, Ms.Cooper works for Stockett's brother, who has taken her side in the dispute. K. Stockett denied knowing this lady.

  • Falling more in love with this woman...so beautiful, humorous and articulate

  • So articulate. you really get a sense of who she is and what she stands for. Love her!

  • I saw the movie and expected Viola Davis' performance BUT Octavia just had me going..." you two make my heart palpitate!.." "..eat my shit!.." I mean dare I say OSCAR :0) and I love the fact that she's a REALIST..go own head girl! More power to you...and Melissa McCarthy was crying for her...that's sweet!

  • My math teacher taught her in high school! She said that the role she played in the help was a perfect fit for her! I haven't seen the film but I will now for sure!

  • It seems to be me that the only thing that black women get accolades for are for playing overweight, unattractive and undesirable women (i.e. "Precious" and "The Help"). It's amazing that when Angela Bassett gave the performance of a lifetime as Tina Turner in "What's love got to do with it" she didn't even get a look in, yet Hollywood continues to perpetuate the Mammy stereotype. Black women need to realise that Hollywood is playing them like a game.SMH.

  • @ezekielthemack Hey Hey Angela Bassett won a Golden Globe for lead Actress in "Whats Love Got to Do with It" in 1994. Awards or not Angela Bassett will always be a Phenomenal Actress.

  • @ezekielthemack I agree with your comment somewhat, however, i think women in general are being played. Because if you look at all the women that have won acting awards the Oscars being the top their roles were not so appealing. Ie. Cherlize Theron=Monster, Kathy Bates=Misery, the list goes on. To further that theory the Color Purple is a fantastic movie, each black actress portrayed a "mammy" like role but didn't win any awards!

  • @ebony38ish I'm not interested in "all" women, I'm only interested in how black women are being portrayed in Hollywood because I'm a black man. For every "monster" Cathy Bates role, there are another 20 or 30 to offset the wanton behaviour of one white woman. Black women and the black movie industry in general do not have that luxury.

  • @ezekielthemack Well obviously, these "black" actresses knows what's going on. Like Octavia said in her speech most roles they play are "real" roles what we as a people experienced. So what do they do? Complain and not get any work or play roles that were real and get paid! You do the math? You sound like a young angry black man!!!!!

  • @ebony38ish Sweetie, you need to come better than the tired "angry black man" argument. You, like many sistas of today have the ethical depth of a paddling pool.So what you're saying is that you would sooner debase your race and yourself in order to get paid? SMH It is black people like you that have caused the black community to become so degenerate.

  • @ezekielthemack We can debate on and on about this topic. But it's not going to get us anywhere, our community is in grave danger and it is not entertainment. Entertainment is the least of our issues. But like i said i'm not going to debate, you have a point and i have my opinions. God Bless!!!!

  • @ezekielthemack I understand your perspective and your observation. But to be honest, it's been debated sooo many times. Ebony38ish is absolutely right. We need to focus on the positives of this film. I have to say, I really enjoyed my experience while watching the movie. I fell in love with Octavia's character. But most importantly, I enjoyed the bond between the characters in this movie. This story is important, and I love her Viola's character decided to write her story in her own words.

  • @carpediemtoday Just because this has been debated extensively that doesn't make the issue any less profound. There ARE no positives in a movie that shows black women as unattractive and in a derogatory position to white women. The subconscious message that this movie sends to America (and the world) is that WW are more attractive and superior to BW. This movie did not have to be made as this formula is tired and hackneyed end of story. Wake up...

  • I love how elegantly and eloquently she replied to all the questions. Should see her bit part in 'The Big Bang Theory' too - she was hilarious there!

  • lol i wanted to see the shoes :(

  • She's so articulate, and answered each question very well. I love her, and your role. I'm so proud.

  • The Help really brings out the painful African-American history and shows how racist "white" America was and it still needs to get rid of the remnants of such mentality not just against different races or colours, but against other nationalities too. The world is getting more connected, at least through technology. It is better that we bring this connection in ourselves too and humanise it.

  • kudos!

see this classic rebel film asap!

  • the best part in last but it's not in this video :( i love you so lovely Octavia ♥

  • I've seen her in so many little bit parts her and there for years now, I'm so happy to see her succeed like this.

  • Be happy in your own skin!!! YESSSS!!!! beautimus!

  • Wow! What an amazing response! I don't know if that 2nd guy asked that question because he's closed minded or just being a journalist. The beautiful part about the movie is that the women rose above. Each character did something they may have otherwise been too afraid or timid to do but they did it. I live in the Dominican Republic as an American and there is something to be said about American Ancestors who fought for what they believed in!

  • I absolutely love her humble spirit!

  • monique sorry but megan in bridmaids stoll the show to not give her one how bot give one to leed instead for once ok second time but still think how many time meryl lost or kate winslet or julienne moore lost before given one to michelle (meryl has no chance) think how many time would volia or any black woman would get a chance agian now many times do you see them in leads she wasn't in the help that much make up for it buy giving it to right person.

  • Beautiful, Beautiful and just simply Beautiful!!!! I love her so much, great actress. She is truly talented. I cant wait to see what else she does next. I loved her in The Help. So happy for Octavia.

  • I love her, she is so funny... <3
