Sting can write so well about pain, despair, and longing... he has been through it after all... before he was famous he had some traumatic relationships... and after he was famous, his divorce from his first wife Frances cut him up badly (although you could say it was his own fault as he clearly couldn't keep away from Trudie Styler but have sympathy... that whole time of his life nearly destroyed him).
