Speaking of Abraham, how can people think he's a good guy? He was going to kill his son, and he gets praised for it because he was so "faithful" to God. I think the real Abraham was hallucinating, pure and simple.
It was more of a test of faith. God knew that Abraham couldn't do it and provided an animal for the sacrifice instead. Though, I DO joke about what he told his wife afterwards...
"Yeah, we went up, I tried sacrificing Isaac, an angel told me not to, and we found a goat stuck in a bush nearby, so we sacrificed it instead!"
@TLSoulDude I think tests of faith are great. I'm hoping to get rewarded for mine. However, nothing in the entire universe would justify even pretending to want someone to kill their son in your name. No God would ever do that. I've convinced myself that Abraham was high on some form of primitive drug and was hallucinating.
@TLSoulDude Yeah, definitely. Still, they were all religious fanatics back then. Nowadays, though, it's the kind of thing that would destroy a marriage.
22:53 That noise is now the most quoted line from Star Trek in my house. It used to be, "GENESIS!?", but then we watched Star Trek 5 again after a long time, and all burst out laughing when it did that. Now randomly in my how, one of use will just suddenly call out, "YYYOOOOUUUUU!!" like that. Lol
Supposedly,Gene Roddenberry wanted to do an episode of the original show where the Enterprise found God.The actual entity that created the universe. And it would turn out to be a malfunctioning supercomputer. The brass at NBC said,"NO!!!!"
He tried reviving this idea for the first movie, but it got rewritten, and re-rewritten,and re-RE-rewritten into---well,I think everybody here knows the plot of the first Star Trek movie.
after seeing the things that William Shatner had written into this flick, i'm beginning to think this was just one of those movies for the director to unleash his sickest fantasies on the big screen
@elcap22 Are you referring to the woman doing the dance in the desert? That was uhura? Dude, I'm glad you think she's still sexy. As for me, I think she looked better when the show started in the mid sixties. Just saying.
@elcap22 Nope, I find her sexy too. Actually, I found alot of 50 yr old women lil attractive. I get flirted by built 50 yr old MILF in the gym all the time, and I'm only 19 yrs old. What about Marisa Tomei, Catherine Zeta Jones, Diane Lane, Angelina Jolie, or Mrs. Robinson from The Graduate (Just her character in the film), they are around 50 and still very sexy.
@billruller If a woman is near 50 or 60 and well taking care of and still fairly hot then I would see her naked and enjoy that but Marisa Tomei and Diane is upper 40's Madonna is over 50 Halle Berry , Jennifer Aniston mid 40's there hotter than a lot of average 20's chicks .
To be fair, the most ridiculous requests from god come from the old testament, where god is portrayed as....well pretty much a bored, trolling asshole and a bit of a nutjob. You can thank the jewish writers of the OT for that who acted out their frustration about being exiled by writing him this way. It's like teenagers who get bullied at school and then go home writing fanfictions with a fictional version of themselves as the Mary-Sue/Gary-Stu Hero who can kick anybody's ass.
@jeffreycoley because on his official website, it has a comercial put in and the video would cut, but sense there is no commercial the screen just stays black
Roger Ebert (quoted from his review of the film on Siskel & Ebert, after the line spoken on 7:32 ) : And if you think they don't practice that until they get it right, you're wrong!
Okay, Christian woman speaking here: I gotta admit, that bit with God asking for bizarre things was pretty funny. I like the faces they make along with the sound effects, like that's how any average human being would react to such a thing. :P
@ConstantineChernabog did he review two? the videos ive watched are the motion picture and three the search for spock and this one. or is he purposely skipping movies he deems as "diahhrea"?
@snackpeelskin probably Generations, hoping he'll mention Insurrection and Nemesis, the last one being in my opinion what killed the franchise, not Enterprise!
I'm watching this episode on ThatGuyWithTheGlasses and the funny thing is it was a Totino's pizza pocket ad, and it was about these kids who were hungry and couldn't find the pizza pockets so their mom told them to look to their left because the pockets were practically right in front of them, and I was like: "Okay..." the funny thing is Doug followed it up by saying "What the hell kind of ad was that?" Similar to my reaction.
Hmm sounds like Dr. McCoy messed up the words to Row Row Row your boat ..he said "Row Row Row your boat gently down the stream merily merily merily merily life is down the steam" ...it's supposed to be "life is but a dream"
Well, when Jesus died on the cross, Abraham almost sacrificed his son, and Moses wandered through the desert, God told them why when they asked. This guy, on the other hand, "How dare you ask questions? Eat some wimpy lightning!"
@NodDisciple1 Hey, getting chewed out is better than getting zapped. Speaking of which, in the Bible when God zaps you, you die. When this thing zaps you, it's like. "Ow, that stung a bit."

before I watch this review I want to get it on record that I actually did like this one and I personally think Star Trek Generations is the worst of the movies. Why? because it's trailer is misleading and Kirk dies, twice.
i dont get it, i always see people talking about "MILFs" and stuff, but when a mature woman is half naked and dancing in star trek, people vomit blood?
i'll never understand people's incomprehensible sexual fetishes.
@Pegashy123 i think that would only count if they never mentioned it again after the singalong, but as you can see, they do mention it again afterwards, so it isnt one of those moments.

before I watch this review I want to get it on record that I actually did like this one and I personally think Star Trek Generations is the worst of the movies. Why? because it's trailer is misleading and Kirk dies, twice.

I'm on the mobile Youtube site. Are we supposed to see an ad when it cuts to black and back to NC?
FilmFanatic211 1 month ago
@FilmFanatic211 not on youtube since it doesn't work like that. but on sites that use bliptv, like tgwtg, an add will pop up.

Who actually sang Row Row Row your boat when the captions came on screen instead of me... anyone?...

i dont get it, i always see people talking about "MILFs" and stuff, but when a mature woman is half naked and dancing in star trek, people vomit blood?
i'll never understand people's incomprehensible sexual fetishes.

When they sang Row Row Row Your Boat out of nowhere, I felt like I jumped into an entirely different film.
...Big Lipped Alligator moment? :/
Pegashy123 1 month ago 24
@Pegashy123 i think that would only count if they never mentioned it again after the singalong, but as you can see, they do mention it again afterwards, so it isnt one of those moments.

@Pegashy123
It's not a Big Lipped Alligator Moment because Row Row Row Your Boat is mentioned several times in the film.
