The first time I saw the movie, I truly thought it was going to end with Wall-E being a soulless robot forever and that I was going to leave the theater all sad, depressed and angry, Then, I thought it was going to end with there being a chance that Wall-E might regain his memory but we would never know.

I know this is a really sad way to end Wall-E. However it is the most meaningful. Part of the magic of the movie was how these robots ended up being more human than the humans were. This is just the logical extension of that. I mean we think of robots as repairable and unaging. For example Wall-E lived 700 years before the movie. If he could die and not come back, like a human, then that just further personifies him. In effect when Wall-E died is when he got a soul and completed his metamorphesi
