Drop G# actually sounds amazing when playing wide arppegios and chords, it sounds really dark, but really smooth. Not everyone that tunes down that low is just trying to be "heavy". Tosin Abasi from animals as leaders is in E (though he plays an 8 string) and he is hardly trying to be "deathcore" or the heaviest thing possible. Infact alot of the stuff he plays is clean.

Actually I would say just get a bass, but really the thinner strings to get a different tone, although they'd have to be thicker than the ordinary E string. I'd recommend an eight string and tuning the F# down to E, like Tosin Abasi does.

you should buy a bass cab if your gonna play that low, otherwise you could blow your amp. Guitar cabs are not meant to handle tones that low, and if its to loud you risk blowing out your cab.
