My 22 yr old son died last Nov 2009 from an overdose of Ritalin (Methylphenidate). He was diagnosed with ADD at age 12. He was an excellent student until his 2nd year of college when he starting dropping classes and spiralled out of control. He tried respiratory therapy school and dropped out. He went voluntarily for treatment in Houston at Memorial Herman Park (PaRC) who kicked him out after 8 days of detox and 2 weeks of in patient. 7 days later he died. I am trying to help others for him.

There is no word to discribe such loss and pain although I would like to say that people die from adverse effects of many medications..for some people with adhd phychostimulants is the only way to be alive...but again I can only imagine this man's pain..

i feel the same way. i hope their pain is not felt by others. BUT the scumbag who posted this put on the information panel stuff about natural and alternative things. this is a man talking about his son dieing and the "natural food" business uses it as advertisement. nobody in the video deserved what happened, but stimulant medication has helped SO MANY people, including myself. and this sad dad is being used for the natural food business. and they say modern medicine is unethical and corrupt

I'd like to add I don't sell any sort of natural medication. I sell a book that advocates natural remedies for ADHD vs. the overmedication that many suffer from.

the amount of children prescribed adhd medication is just sickening. Most kids dont end up dead like mathew, but young kids who are put on psychostimulant medication will all have problems as a result of it when they grow up.
im not just talking about physiological problems like a weakened heart. Im talking about a fucked up brain that has had unnatural dopamine levels while it developed and is now unable to experience real pleasure w/o drugs. its fucking sick.

I have ADD. I am soory for this man and his family for the loss. hoewever i do take stimulant medications and had no problem with them.

I really cried when i seen this like it's my own brother! you know what i took psyche drugs also and it made me emotionally moody. It's tough to try to concentrate i'm sorry to hear about your loss and i hope fda does something about this stop medicating kids. There's natural remedies to go about this.
