For those who are debating the difference between xinyi (Heart mind) and hsing yi (form mind). In xinyithe connecting of the mind with the heart is important hence the muslim influence their opening is also different. Nonsense. Xin-yi Liu He branched from shaolin school xin yi(which, I think, is extinct or very close now), Dai Family Xin Yi(rare), and Five Element Xing Yi (now by far the most common style and, I feel, the most incomplete). This split happened around the 16th century.

My respects and honor to see this. XingYi is arguably the most powerful chinese kungfu ever (hard to believe?), and this is probably in one of its oldest form, from China western region's Chinese Muslims. History goes that Han Chinese adopted it, combined with Geomancy of 5-elements (and animal forms) which became XinYiQuan. Shaolin monks adopted it too which become another line, called XinYiBa. All r related.. Feel free to correct me.

Sorry, Shaolin one is XingYiBa (心意把) (not "XinYi" just to keep it confusing :p). U can see that in another clip how the Shaolin one looks like.

dai xinyi is very effective, but takes many years to develope, xinyi is the art that xingyi later came from.

It's economical, not limiting. The body is tight. Similarly, Muay Thai fighters and western boxers squeeze their bodies together with their arms raised in guard. Dai Xinyi fights close range, brings you down as they go down, then throws you out as they go up.

i don't claim to be an expert. but xin yi was the template so to speak (from what i gather) for xing yi. xin yi has only 10 animals, xing yi has 12. which is one difference. they are very similar, yet they are not really the same thing.
