Where did you tap into for the power? Is it just the hard drive power line?

But for space restraint reasons, the LEDs are actually tapped off of the 5V line from the motherboard, into the chip that makes them respond to sound, and then out to the LEDs. It doesn't really matter. 5V is 5V. You just need to remember that the original xbox can only source a few amps.
