Champolion the frensh historian linguist and historian who discovered how to read hyeroglyphes , wrote "" The first tribes which populated Egypt, that is to say , Nile valley between the cataract(waterfall) of Syène and the sea, came from Abyssinia. " Champollion-Figeac, "Ancient Egypt", p. 27....( Now, Ancient Abyssinia represents « Ethiopia, Erytrea ,Djibouti,Somali »)
Indeed the castles at Gondar were designed by Portuguese architectures under the supervision of Ethiopians in the 1600s. The European engineers and painters were hired by The Emperors and higher class Gondarian (traders who'd benefited from the booming Gondar's trades). Also the Jesuits were allowed to convert locals into catholicism until Fasilides expelled them out. This is a well documented modern history.
@waffiki I agree that most of Africa's civilization accomplishments were wrongly accredited to others by bigot historians. However, in dealing with Gondar, this castles are undoubtedly the result of European architectural influences in Ethiopia. The châteaux of Fasiladas built in 1600s was undeniably modern to then Africa in terms of its design. This simply was not the case in Portugal. Mind you, here it was not only recorded by Portuguese Jesuits but by then Abyssinian writers for the royals.
If we going to play that game, it should be mentioned that european castles are the result of diffusion from Persia, the origin of such style of that we call a "castle".
@Larendria google "gondar ethiopia" it's not hard, google keeps you from posting in stupid mode. you can save yourself from getting shit wrong in public.
@RwKhuti What are you talking about? Gondor frrom LOTR is spelled differently than Gondar. That was the point i made. I can save myself from getting what wrong in public? You're the one that said " Gondar as in LOTR gondar?" its gondor. I'm sure Tolkien didn't know shit about a no-name place like Gondar, because he was a professor in Scandinavian history. Keep making yourself look like an ass though, you're being rediculous. I just fixed an error in your statement.
@RwKhuti Why the fuck would i want to google Gondar, Ethiopia. I know GONDAR exists, and i know its in ethiopia you dumb fuck. Gondor does not equal Gondar.
I advice you to read 'Portugal's Influence on Culture and Architecture in the Highlands of Ethiopia.' The book speaks in details about European influence in Gondar, Ethiopia @ medieval time. This Portugese jesuits brought catholicism and few modern artileryz with them... they were fouling a lot so they got deported back to Europe and some were killed. Interesting book though, i suggest you read it.
You mentioned that the castle had a portugese influence as well as eastern. Perhaps this is true, the old style architecture in Europe was brought there by the African moors during europea dark ages.
The moorish presence was from 711ad-1492.
Since the moors were African, they brought their architecture with them that dated from ancient Ethiopia and Egypt, which is the same building style the was taken further east/north into India and southern Asia.

because you are brought up in the west, your mind will not accept that it was ethiopian who have built these buildings.
when u said that "they absorved influences from portuguese, india" that was absolutely wrong they copied from us. we didn't copy from them.
