People ARE replaceable. They had no issue replacing members in the band. Egos inflated, they go off and do KooKoo (an abject disaster art album that derailed the band) later to be banned in record shops due to it's cover. Leeds had his hands full dealing with two drug addicts who couldn't read the fine print or do their jobs when people were paying them to do just that - work. Read the fine print and PAY your taxes just like “the little people” do. The IRS doesn't care how cool you are.

Amazing Documentary About My Favorite Band Ever! It goes perfectly with the earlier Behind The Music documentary!! But Damn, Peter Leeds was and is such an Asshole! I mean Damn! Want a reason why the Band had money problems (besides the drugs) Thank Leeds for taking like half the money!!! Yeah, like Leeds would have Ever Kicked Chris out of the Band. This is the problem with current copyright laws where thieving scumbags like Leeds can get paid in perpetuity. Not letting things go public domain in 30 years - and here's where YouTube helps us all circumvent - is overall bad for both the artists and the public. How long should the inventor or penicillin or anti-aids drugs get to collect royalties, let alone far less costly endeavors such as writing and recording pop songs. A manager should not be able to collect anything past the first run.

Peter Leeds, what a jerk.

A-Hole managers are a dime a dozen.Talented artists like Blondie aren't.The rarity is a manager who doesn't cheat or mistreat his clients. According to Leeds, the band members were all replaceable. Even his object of lust, Debbie, sometimes! What a joke. The one most replaceable was Leeds! The band should have fired him early on. Maybe those punishing contract obligations kept them from it. No doubt Leeds would not have hesitated to try suing them into the stone age.

Chapman was a very good producer, but I seriously doubt that the band was insisting that they do Heart of Glass like the 1975 demo version he played. Still he did an excellent job with the album and in producing HOG, which was painstaking. Good production won't overcome bad material, but bad production can kill good material. I love the first two albums but the band deserved better production such as Chapman or Eno. As to Leeds, it speaks for itself.

Those shots (at 4:17 to 4:27) are made in TopPop, the weekly Dutch Popshow of topsingles in the seventies.

I even doubt, that this registration was ever broadcasted in The Netherlands, because the song 'One way or another' was never released in Holland.
