  • tcu could go undefeated ten years in ia row and as long as just 2 bcs confrence schools go undefeated each year, than tcu would not go once. we need a playoff system

  • Commissioner Hansen:

"Our presidents have no interest whatsoever in a plus-one model -- none... If they continue to push it, we'll walk away from the BCS."

    Pete Carroll:

"The system is what it is and I'm standing by it... I don't have any solutions for it, so.... or uh... there's no way I could ever come up with one (nervous laugh)."

With advocacy like that, no wonder Commissioner Hansen and the 10 yellow-bellied Pac 10 presidents still threaten to take their ball and run home.

  • SEC = South's Elite Conference

  • Alabama rules except when they play Utah

  • ...without their offensive line.

  • @sandymex

This is why I hate the current system. When the "big boys" get beat by a team like Utah, Boise State, TCU, etc., they come up with all sorts of excuses, and by the end of the year everybody brushes off the loss as "one bad game".

If a team like Utah, TCU, Boise State, BYU, etc. loses ONE game, they have absolutely NO shot. Everybody talks about how they can't bring it every week, blah blah blah. Guess what? USC doesn't bring it every week. Neither does Florida, Bama, Texas...

  • Eight sacks and the fact that almost every team on Utah's weak schedule gained more yards than Bama should have been clues about the serious OL problems. I'm no Bama fan, but it's silly to suggest Utah beating Bama is status quo.

I favor playoffs, unlike the Pac 10. I'd love to see Utah, Boise St and TCU join a major conference and drop their weakest opponents. If they can't, they should combine the best of the WAC & MWC into divisions and play a championship game.

  • Sandy, I've got news for you:

Non-BCS teams are 3-1 in BCS bowls. I think it IS the status quo. The ACC is 2-9 in BCS bowls. Should we take away their automatic bid?

  • LOL. Let's put it another way. Without the very significant offensive line problems of Alabama those 4 undefeated non-BCS teams wouldn't even have a winning record in BCS bowls!

And that's with the gimmie game between 11-0 Utah and 8-3 Pittsburgh. On a positive note, the Boise St - Oklahoma game was one of my all-time favorites.

  • The teams will just have to grow their programs and their conferences as well, At their current state they won't be able to compete with the other major conferences in terms of recruits and national attention. They should try and start a reputation.and strong rivalry within the conference.

  • Consumers, whether the millions who watch the game on TV or the lucky few who pay for a ticket to the computer-designated championship game, are being deceived. The BCS championship game is not a championship game under any sensible interpretation of the manner in which sports champions are determined.

  • It's not "computer-determined". That is a myth. it is primarily determined by voters. The computer factor is less than 1/3 of it. Voters are the ones who pick the game. I preferred the system pre03 where strength of schedule and several other fators were involved. the formula was much more complex and was geared to balance the human-factor with objective criteria, but the sportswriters got their panites in a bunch when their Golden Children of USC were left out because of a pitiful schedule.

  • Commissioner Hansen,

Way to help your conference you stupid piece of trash. I want a playoff by 2009, 2010 at the latest.
