The reason there's not many (if any) giants today is because before the flood, there was no ocean or rain, just a thick fog everywhere. The earth was warmer, the atmosphere wetter and thicker, a warm global greenhouse. After the Flood, most of the global fog had condensed into rain, so the air was now dryer, thinner, and the sunlight brighter and hotter than before.

The air in some places was cold, where before there were no cold places. Things can't grow "giant" anymore because of the air.

@jacval60 the giants had power, but not on par with an angel. but they had forbidden knowledge and great strength. i also think the original giants were larger than the ones David and his men killed. also it seems the fallen angels created giants twice. the Flood destroyed the earlier giants but the Bible says Gen 6:4 "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that,..." very fascinating stuff.

So, technically, you could say humans are descended from giants. To the best of my knowledge, Adam is the tallest human on record. This would also make sense as the later giants were attempts of lesser beings to create their own version of humans and, as such, were inferior and thus the giants not as tall or as powerful.
