ArtOfStarcrat, where are you man? So many techniques to still be shown(the list from Kagatorium is a good one). Are you playing Starcraft II these days? Will you start doing videos for them?
@Requisition I'm really busy with "life" these days. I realize that my video series is incomplete which is unfortunate, as there were a few things I really wanted to do before I could consider ending it. I do play SC2, but not as much as I used to play SC1. I don't think I'll make SC2 videos because theres nothing really concrete just yet and if I did make them I'd like them to be similar to the essentials series that I made. I guess i'll reassess where I'm standing when things calm down for me.
With zerg if you're going with mass mutas or at least like more than 1 control group of mutas...how do you move them? is there anyway to stack 2 control groups of mutas or it has to be 2 groups, one for each controlgroup of mutas? because for a lot of FPVOD's I see mutas raping like hell and I always wonder if they just have a shitload of mutas in that one spot or if they're micro is insane.
Your videos are great, but I'm really past that stage of SC unit maneuvers; years of UMS games have honed my skills, hehe. Could you do more videos about advance/non-typical proxies or maybe some specific race Builds? FYI - Toss player, hehe XD
@enCODed3 who uses corsair fleets? noob tactics(unless against zerg overlords) This is for harassment mostly. ever seen 12 guardians do that? its fugly
if you knew anything about stacking you would know that you make a magic box when dealing with units that deal splash. Corsairs and arcons are just an example. Stacking is usually only used to harass.
Sorry, there's something that hasn't been mentioned in this video... When you're stacking, u do not pull them back in a straight line, rather... make a 180 degrees turn, into a 360 to come back to attack. that way they wont split up.
In case of terrans you can stack by making a tank in seige mode with the wraiths, battle cruisers, etc... In my opinion if blizzard fails with sc2 i will propose to leave the original sc as it is but put with sc2 graphics engine 3d!!!
that will be awesome a balanced game with cool graphics!!!
because they will joing the other units and will not stack you can only use unupgraded overlords because they are so slow!!! use burrowed units, larvas, trapped units or tanks that are seiged!!!xD!!!
Awesome tips man thanks a ton. I'm just trying to improve my game before SC2 comes out so I don't look like a noob, but there's probably no hope for that, but these videos definitely help!
Actually, its preferred against a hightemp lover, especially when playing as zerg.
Mutas can dodge storm easily and temps will waste storms on muta. Otherwise, temps will get OHKO'd by a group of 9+ muta and Protoss's ground forces will get owned by what is usually mass hydra.
Yes you can; however this is only really viable if you've researched burrow for another purpose. Researching burrow solely to micro mutas isn't practical.
"ya just read 1st comment and he has a point, i dont mind watching u play micro as u seem to have it down, but i think u should edit the vid with some explanations as to when to use mouse click, hold or partrol. also i dont know if scourge micro would fall under this section. nice tip with the trapped ling. gg "

why not put a pro vid of jaedong raping someone with mutas?
also you dont even mention how to properly muta micro, which is done by pressing hold position when in range of the target. the purpose of stacking mutas is for the qucik hit and run as well as to conceal numbers.
Basically you ctrl+left click one worker, selecting them all, then right click on a mineral, then they all move at once. while they are on their way, drag your mouse and select two workers sending them to another mineral. next, single click any one of the four workers and take it to a third mineral. finally single click either of the two workers still heading toward one same mineral, and tell it to go to a fourth mineral.
its called cloning. u take all4 as a group and send them to a field but the discollect one by one with shift so u get a group of three ( send the to another mineral field) the a group of two (sending them to another one) and the last scv sent to another, the 4th mineral fiel. discollect the scv not themselves but on their icon on the bottom of the screen. hope i coul help..
Wow, these are awesome tutorials! "Hope you learned something" with 'learned' not 'learnt', though. 'Learnt' is past participle to use with 'have'... such as 'I have learnt a lot from these videos!' Some other but more minor tricks: 1) floating buildings over turrets or as baits, 2) stacking workers, 3) properly walling-in with buildings, 4) blocking sunks or cannons with workers against melee rush, 5) pushing worker/unit through mineral patch, 6) larvae creeping to the left of hatchery...
learnt is british-english, whereas learned is american-english. other than that there is no difference between them. Thanks for the suggestions, particularly the blocking sunks/cannons vs melee units
This is a great tip, I learned about it from watching some GOMTV casts from Tasteless, but it's good that you made a video about it. Five stars, brobama.
also, when you do the wraith stack with the marine, you should use a marine that is trapped in the middle of some other marines. since the marine, unlike slow overlord or larva, moves around quickly, the wraith stack can easily be disabled with the marine getting killed, and its not very efficient to re-stack by grouping another marine
when you showed the grouping of muta's with the overlord, you shouldn't have. because the overlord had a speed upgrade and the only reason they ever stack with overlord instead of larva is because they need to morph the larva, and the overlord is too slow to move anywhere. if it has a speed upgrade, it means its too far into the game for muta stacking to the effect of completely dominating the terran. get it?

You can also do this well simply by burrowing a unit and adding it to the hotkey.

Meh, Starcraft is also known for it's almost endless combinations, but is proved time and timed again that it is balanced.
Starcraft 2 will probably leech of Starcraft BW's fame.

Yeah good point. Do you know if it's possible to stack Hydra, if so, how?
Bernpoo 2 years ago
Not in standard game types, no. However there are techniques for doing it in Use Map Settings. I'm not quite familiar them, though.
Modnight 2 years ago
what makes it possible in map settings? That helps, thanks. Has the technique been long outdated and fixed in later versions?
Bernpoo 2 years ago
It used triggers - I think it involved creating units on top of an uraj crystal or something. I have no idea if it has been fixed or not.
