  • how I long for the days that these movies were on tv on a regular basis....didn't have to worry about what you'd see or hear

  • anyone know what the name of the movie is?

  • @Txdrgnslyr2002 The name is "Home in Oklahoma" 1946. I have it on dvd.

  • @yrtuag THANKS!

  • I hear some golden gate quartet in this, some gospel

  • i love roy rogers since i am a kid !

  • i enjoyed the old western stars

  • roy and pat....great memories.

  • This is not COME AND GET IT - this is COWBOY HAM AND EGGS - written by SOTP mainstay Tim Spencer...Bass player Pat Brady did record the actual song, COME AND GET IT - which is a ranch/chiuckwagon cook comedy piece...actually done recently by Sidemeat (RIDERS IN THE SKY)...

  • Great stuff... by one of the most under-appreciated vocal groups (because of their niche) in history. TSOTP absolutely hold their own with the Mills Bros., the Pied Pipers, and the Four Freshman.

(And, of course, Roy was their breakout star.)

  • Makes me hungry for Breakfest already !!! .

  • Ready Roy ??????? " I was borne ready !!!!! "

  • When I was a very young boy, (a loooong time ago) Roy Rogers came to visit our local Youth organization, sort of a Boys and Girls club way down here on the Lower East Side. OF course, this was when the Lower East Side was the "LOWER EAST SIDE," of legend, not the yuppie haven of today.

Anyway, what a thrill to see him in person. A room was dedicated to him thereafter. The building, sadly, is long gone, but the memory of his visit, to us poor kids, a long was from the trail, remains.

  • love roy...and trigger too.

    legends forever!

  • Love this old stuff! Thank you for sharing! ♥

  • yeeha

  • I heard that Festus on Gunsmoke spent some time singing with the sons of the pioneers also. anybody know when or if he did for sure?

  • Yes, he did - from 1949 to 1953.

  • Ken Curtis officially left TSOTP in 1953 but worked with them through 1957. He sings the beautiful lead vocal on "The Restless Gun", from the 1957 album, "Let's Go West Again".

  • Not only did he sing with the Sons of the Pioneers, he took over for Frank Sinatra as vocalist of the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Ken Curtis was astonishingly talented.

  • Roy Rogers is still my hero,

  • @19bejale mine too. / / still. after 55 years

  • @hammeron39

ok ,i live in the Netherlands and have alot of stuff of him and the western i also visit the museum in Victor Ville

  • Do you believe these vocals? These guys were the "Beach Boys" of the 30's and 40's. Amazing Americana! ...now, Let's go get some breakfast.

  • Hello :-), Im living in Germany but grew up in Africa...and I am looking desperatly for a song...I guess its from the sons of pioneers but am not sure...The song has the refrain Mockingbird in a tree always follow me.....down to the ....? If anyone out there could help me find it..or tell me who sang it originally, it would make me so happy...thank you in advance..

  • How Cute:)

  • The song by the pioneers is Get your cowboy ham and eggs--not Come and Get It. Also, the man with the high voice is Ken Carson--not Pat Brady. kEN Carson took the place of Lloyd Perryman who went in to the army in the early 1940's Pat Brady had been with the Pioneer since the late 1930's. He too went in to the army about the same time Lloyd Perryman did--He played the bass fiddle. He was the comic of the bunch. He did sing, but he didn't have a high voice.

  • Not exactly - you're right that Ken Carson & Shug Fisher replaced Perryman and Brady when they were in the army, but not in this clip. That's definitely Pat Brady playing the bass, and Lloyd Perryman is right behind him on guitar.

  • to LaMusicaVa--I am not disputing what you said about who is playing what on this video. You are correct. What I was commenting about was the title of the song which they were singing and that the man with the high voice was Ken Carson and not Pat Brady. See comment from curleyb3 10 mo. ago. Thanks

  • I'm sorry, you're right about the voice! I just learned that this song was pre-recorded with Ken Carson singing those lines and Pat Brady lip-synced them in the film. What do you know!

  • I loved the Roy Rogers TV show. I must have seen some of the movies but -- it was a long time ago and I'm not sure! I had some Roy Rogers cowboy clothes as a kid! Wow- memories!

    Thanks for posting this curleyb3.

  • What movie is this from? I know I've seen it before but the name escapes me.

  • It's from "Home In Oklahoma."

  • Thanks!

  • Another good one! Mr. Lswrence, who is the guy way over on the left? The one with the real deep voice at the end of the song? He reminds me of Chill Wills.

  • Hi Ruby, Thank you for your comment. The fellow on the left is Hugh Farr with the deep voice. To me is great and adds 100% to the Sons of the Pioneers. His brother Karl Farr Playing the Guitar is one of the members too.

  • Thank you. What about the base player with the high voice singing "Come and get it", "Move along."? I've been humming this song in my head since yesterday. Really catchy and so well done.

  • Hi Patty, the fellow with the High voice is Pat Brady. Roy Rogers SideKick in the movies and also a member of the Sons of the Pioneers.

He was killed in an auto Accident.

  • Oh my!!!! I can't believe I didn't realize that as him!!!! So sad that he died that way. He and Nellie Belle were childhood favorites as well. But I had no idea he could sing and play an instrument. Can't wait to tell the husband.
