  • This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. The only answer I can think of to this question is (we are his children). Now the question comes of (Who am I that I could ever deserve to be the child of the king of kings and the lord of lords?) We are not even a speck in the strongest magnifier in the world, compared to him. It's really shameful that so many people don't see it that way today in time. They're worshiping money and politicians rather than our lord and savior.

  • What is not to love about this precious family of God! I love the spirit I feel everytime I listen to their songs. Praise God for the Goodmans.

  • Praise your Holly name , Jesus. I owe my life to you. Thank you , Jesus. Amen

  • Okay, I'm crying now. This one always gets to me. Thanks for posting this wonderful song. Our God is so perfect and wonderful, it's hard to grasp it sometimes.

  • Thank you for posting this video. It brings tears of my faith to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

  • Thank you Jesus for what you've done for me.

  • Praise the King!

  • Rusty, Sam and Howard were brothers. Vestal was Howard's wife. Tanya is Rusty's daughter and the neice of Sam, Howard and Vestal.

  • They gave so much to the world

  • Vestel & Howard had two children, Ricky and Vicki...Tanya is Howard's brother, Rusty's daughter.

  • The answer to, "Who Am I', is it's not about me, but the 'LOVE of God in CHRIST JESUS'! I weep with joy for this wonder of wonders, that He should step out of 'ETERNITY' in to time, and 'BLEED AND DIE' for me, that I can step from time into 'ETERNITY' with Him. What can be said? "THANK YOU"? Too weak...HALLELUJAH,and PRAISE GOD FOREVER! Thank you for this song, on You Tube.

  • Thanks for all your sweet comments. This is definitely my favorite of all all the songs my dad wrote. Be blessed!

    Tanya

  • if this don't light your fire, your wood is wet!

  • Well hopefully somehow some way the Gaithers Homecoming Shows will keep their legacy before us.

  • I can't get past the part that says "There's nothing that I could have done, to deserve God's only Son" without tears coming to my eyes. Its so true. Thank you for posting this, Hoover.

  • Who am I that a KING would bleed and die for?

  • what year is this

  • This is one of my favorite songs and my pastors wife who I believe will out live me is going to sing at my funeral services

  • This is a great song just listen to the words

  • There's nothing i could have done, to deserve God's only son. If this song doesn't move you then nothing will. Thank you Hoover. I grew up on the Goodmans and the Hinsons. These videos mean more to me than you'll ever know. God bless you.

  • @1Lovegospel

I disagree. The TRUTH behind the words is moving, as it is refering to the gospel, which is VERY moving! However - I find the melody overly sentimental and romantic, and innapropriate for this subject. And, bad grammar is used throughout (don't end a sentence on a preposition!!) and I find that completely distracting.

So - your statement "if this song doesn't move you nothing will" seems mean-spirited and narrow minded.

Bad music is bad music, even though some will love it.

  • I'm 16 and I really love this song. I love the Happy Goodmans. I love to honor the Lord and keep their memory alive by singing their songs. I have a vid of me singing Had It Not Been and I have other vids of me singing their songs. My stage presence needs a lot of work but I love singing. Check out my vids if you want. Leave honest feedback. Thanks so much! And Hoover, thanks so much for posting all your many videos. I love watching them! I appreciate you! And I love the Happy Goodmans!

  • Tanya really does a fine job with this song. Not everyone can sing it the way its meant to be sung. Thanks for posting it.

  • There are no more peoples that are willing to sing Gospel like the Goodmans, Hemphills, Hinsons, The Soul Stirrers, the Blind boys Of Mississippi or Alabama. Heck, why not me.

  • Thank you so much for posting these older songs by the Goodmans! When I was a teen in the 60's my precious grandma would turn on The Gospel Singing Jubilee (would wake us up too early! LOL) but I loved hearing all of the groups however the Goodmans were my favorites!

  • jdhootiej Vestal isn't Tanya's mother she is Howard Goodmans nice. Love to hear Tanya sing. Tanya,Vestal and Johny doen a great job. This song will go down in history as one of Rusty Goodmans Best songs he every written.

  • I LOVE VESTAL AND HOWARD GOODMAN THE ARE MY IDOLS I SING GOSPEL MUSIC THEY HAVE TOUCHED MY LIFE AND ALWAYS WILL!!! :)

  • Wow! Thank you for sharing. I am so glad I found this awesome hymn. I have an old album by Sherree Scott with the Beverly Kramer Trio, and this beautiful hymn is on it.

  • Praise God for the annointing in this song. We dont seserve the sacrifice, but He loves us and His ways are perfect. Thank you Lord for all you have done.

  • jdhootiej I don't know how they put this together..what can I can? Touches me to the depth of my soul..

  • Howard has such a pure and good spirit. You can see it on him and through him. Jesus certainly speaks through him.

  • @christimacc jesus can and could speak through all of us if we would just open up our hearts to him and wecome him in and stop the worries about this life and help other get to know who jesus is, this is the main reason we was all put here for, i was raised up in church and have seen and heard god talk through others if your true to god he wil work through you to

  • Those people are angels I dont think there are humans!!

  • LOVE THIS..LOVE TAYNA She's just lke her daddy, RUSTY GOODMAN!! GREAT SONG,SINGER'S and PERFORMANCE!!

  • paula65606,

This info is a long time coming, but I just found these videos tonight.

This presentation is from the special video done in honor of Howard and Vestal--celebrating their faithful years of preaching and singing the gospel. I have this on VHS but not DVD yet.

Hope this isn't coming too late for you.

OT--I guessing by your moniker that you're in MO. I'm from Spfd., but live in TX now.

  • Tanya goodman Sykes you truly bless me with your singing. I only wish that you had more videos of you singing.

  • What a wonderful song!!!

  • I love this song, it always brings tears to my eyes. however, I have never really cared for the guy who sings with them at the end. hes just annoying to me lol.

  • Howard, Rusty & Sam were brothers. Tanya was Rusty's daughter. Sam & Howard were her uncles. Vestel was her aunt by mairrage.

  • Howard, Rusty & Sam were brothers. Tanya was Rusty's daughter. Sam & Howard were her uncles.

  • I love to hear Vestal Sing She is one beautiful Lady and I miss her so. did she have any children?

  • How wonderful that I did not have to deserve His love and mercy! During this time of year when we celebrate His death and resurrection, let us remember that He went willingly to His death so that we could live! Praise God I serve a living Saviour!

  • Tanya really sings this well. She got that "Goodman" gene for good singing!

  • "there's nothing I could have done, to deserve God's only Son".

Those words bring tears to my eyes every time I hear them sung. What a great song by Rusty Goodman.

  • i know it's an old song.....

    so true though

there's nothing i can do that God would love me any less. no matter how unworthy.

  • What a great group....together again in heaven singing all those beautiful songs

  • WHAT A MESSAGE!

What a special ability GOD blessed Rusty with!

A Holy Ghost 3-in-1 annointing is all over that

song and if you let everything else go and ponder

the lyrics;you'll find an experience you NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE!

TRY IT!! LISTEN TO IT A FEW TIMES AND SEE

    FOR YOURSELF!

If you or someone you know is broken, this tune

will help you pick up the pieces and go on!

  • They are all home now singing again not by recording.

  • Can anyone tell me what videos this is on?

  • Wonderful. Good to have things like this on the Internet.

  • What a beautiful song!

  • Thank you Hoover for the WONDERFUL ole gospel songs I grew up listenting to and the newer songs. I have asked that this song Who Am I be played at my funeral.. I ask my self daily Who Am I to deserve what God did for me. God is my Savior and I love Him so much. Praise be to God.

  • Please join me in praying for the ones who dont believe in Jesus

  • lord you are so worthy who am i that you would give it all for me i am glad i gave my life to you love you lord

  • Rusty Goodman, one of the all time great song writers. This song has a great anointing on it. Thanks for putting it out on youtube for us to hear.

  • "Who am I that a KING would bleed and die for me". Hallelujah to the KING!!! Romans 10:9 says it all. Praise his name.

  • @wwwfreedatingca This is one of my favorite songs just listen to the words

  • @wwwfreedatingca Praise the good Lord!

  • I know a girl by the name of Stephanie who went to my church back in N.C. She can sing, she plays the bass like a pro, she can play the piano and the guitar. She's probably 16 right now, and it will not surprize me if she's with a southern gospel group someday. It's her favorite music and I absolutely enjoyed playing the piano while she sung and played the fire out of that bass. What's great is she's getting better. Her voice control is amazing. I told her just keep using your gift for Christ.

  • Brings me to tears everytime!!

  • ME TOO!!!!!

  • This song for the true children of Christ is a reminder that he came to earth as a man to take away all the sins past present and future of all the true children..may this world never pull a shroud over your eyes and you always look to the Father for answers and guidance for he knows what path you walk and will judge us one day....and you wont hear many people say this but please Lord bring this day soon for this flesh is getting hard to live in

  • I can't believe that I have never heard this song before! The voice of an angel! Thank you Hoover for this song! Oh, the tears of joy!

  • Ohhhh how sweet even tho the tears flow. A message that I have listened to hundreds of times, and I'm not tired yet. A true worship experience. Thanks.

  • As I sit here with tears streaming down this old face, I miss Old Brother Rustys great voice. I cant wait to get over there and hear him again.

  • AMEN BROTHER, AMEN! I've sat at home many a time and shouted and cried to the great music of Rusty Goodman and the Goodman Family.

  • At our Church We sing this and have" Oh what a Saviour" mixed in with this song. Will get you shouting...

  • says it ALL...WHO do we think we are??? One of my all timey faves...uh huh Thanks for posting x0x0xx0x

  • It's such a shame that the greatest gospel music, such as that of the Goodmans, is dying away with the artists. We need an awakening in the church, and with the soulful music of southern gospel dying out, that awakening is becoming less and less likely. God bless you for posting this uplifting video!

  • There are STILL some of us out here holding up the torch and ministering with Southern Gospel music, even some young ones.

  • I do agree with you. Singing choruses off the wall is just not the same as these soul searching music of my day. What will our next generation have should our Lord delay His return? We do indeed need to be shaken!

  • @AHarvey53

I have to agree with you. We have indeed entered perilous times. These songs, and the heart of gospel music seem to speak to the heart. Great music comes from great revivals. Great revivals also come from great songs.

  • Who am I that a KING would bleed and die for?????

  • do you have a copy of the song sung by Rusty Goodmans daughter Tanya Goodman Sykes called Til you've known God and His love. Beauyiful song. Thank You for these videos of the Goodman's I have listened to them since I was 10 yrs old. I am now 58.

  • Vestal wasnt Tanya's mother she was Tanya's Aunt.

  • i love the goodmans i never got a chance to meet them but just seeing them on T.V you could feel the power of

God from vestal and the rest of the family i love there songs whoever posted this video thank you God Bless

  • Rusty and Kenny Hinson were my 2 greatest loved gospel singers along with all the goodmans and hinsons ive always loved their singing. Henry

  • oh...thnxz !!!

  • Wow i didnt know Vestal was tanya's mother !!!

  • vestal was tanya's aunt

  • @hoover4000 if rusty was their son,and tanya was rusty's daughter,that would make vestal tanya's grandmother......I'm confused

  • @AuntPauly rusty was not their son rusty was howard's brother. tanya is rusty daughter therefore she is howard and vestals neice

  • @AuntPauly Tanya was Vestal's neice by marriage

  • brian, vestal is not tanyas mother tanya is rustys daughter so vestal is her grandmother fyi henry

  • Howard, Sam and Rusty were brothers. So Vestal was Tanya's aunt (as stated by hoover4000)

  • just to clarify, Vestal was Tanys's aunt, since she was Howard's wife and Rusty's sis in law

  • @brianchhangte Vestal is Tanya's aunt. Tanya's dad, Rusty, was Howard's brother.

  • God Bless the Goodman family, what they have done for Gospel music is amazing.

  • I was alittle girl from Butcher Holler Kentucky. I was 10 years old when the Goodman's sang about Jesus to me. They planted a seed in my heart. I found the Lord when I was 23 years, How happy I was I found the Savior they so sweetly sang about, God help me to continue on their good works and sing Jesus' praise. They are in heaven now and someday I will thank them for singing to this little hillbilly girl that needed the Lord. thank you for posting them!

  • Thanks bandclaw for such a sweet testimony. I was about the same age when I saw them at the old City Auditorium in Atlanta....I fell asleep in the lap of my Aunt Lucy but woke up to hear Vestal....I becam a pastor for the last 20 years because of people like Vestal....God Bless.

  • One of my all time favourites

  • Tanya does a wonderful job of singing this song. Probably as good as any I've ever heard. I hear that part where it says, "There's nothing I could have ever done, to deserve God's only Son" .. and I can't keep away the tears every time. Thanks for posting this

  • where can the soundtrack be bought?

  • I bought it at the local Christian bookstore. If not, try Daywind Records (they have an on-line store). I still sing it. You can't beat those good old Goodman songs!

  • It was Mr. Howard, Rusty, Sam, and Bobby..Ms Vestal too. Tanyas father Rusty passed away first I think in the late 80's and brother Sam shortly after. Mr. Howard died Thanksgiving 2002 and Ms. Vestal Christmas the following year. I have followed them fondly for most of my adult life.

  • Sorry, but was Rusty Harolds brother?

  • u mean howard? yes he was

  • Thanks Hoover 4000, oops! I meant Howard. Great videos, just love the Gaither music. Bless You xox

  • Thanks, Hoover, for posting all the videos you have. You've touched my life in a way you'll never know. I'm hoping to get the Gaither Israel Homecoming video for Christmas plus some others, but that one is so powerful, maybe because it was performed where our Savior actually walked. What a blessing it would have been to be there!

  • I was privileged to be in attendance at a performance by the Goodmans back in the late 60's. Rusty introduced this song and half way through he forgot the words. He apologized and took a note from his pocket and sang the song again. He explained that this was only the second time he had performed it in public and it had a lot of words so it was easy to make a mistake. I have often wondered how many times he sang that song in public after that night. It would boggle the mind i'm sure.

  • In the late 1980's I was very active in Southern Gospel and Rusty was such an example for all of us.

Such a wonderful musician, song writer and man of God. He pulled me aside more than once and reminded me that it is all about The Lord and not us.

    I still miss him

  • One of the greatest southern gospel songs ever written.

  • brrrr......chill bumps, or as George Younce once said, glory bumps. Thanks for posting this vid.

  • Such an anointed group, and this is my favorite song, "who am I." It carries such a beautiful message. I have always said, "God has the best talent in all the world." Such a difference when it comes from the heart and soul to out Lord Jesus Christ. Blessings

  • Rusty Goodman was one of a kind and had such a moving voice. I love all of the Goodmans, but there was something about his voice that seemed to come from such a deep place in his soul. He and the others are truly missed. One day we'll be together again.

  • Elvis loved this song so much that he recorded it. God bless them Goodmans!!!

  • WOW GREAT VIDEO!! THANKS

  • tanya used to come to our church in Largo Fl and it was always a blessing to have her talent and annointed songs. One of my favorites was "I may fly away tonight"

  • God blessed us with a lot of talent in the Goodman family. Although the family is all gone on to be with the Lord, I look for more recordings from Tanya Goodman Sykes.

  • Chillbumps!!!!

  • I literally starting getting chill bumps during sam's intro. WOW!!!

  • OH THE THRILL that this gives to my soul. My Dad was a Southern Baptist minister, and in my younger years, I played the piano for his small church and during revival, the musician

wanted to sing this song. The Lord took care of the piano and my nerves, but her sweet, sweet voice ministered with "Who Am I"! Of course, the beloved Goodmans' sing it best. Thank God for their uplifting music that gives praise to our Lord!!! jbw

  • ALLELUIA - PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! THIS GIVES ME HOLY GHOST CHILL BUMBS!!! When I was a child my Dad would always play The Happy Goodmans! Rusty is my favorite! The Goodman's music is very anointed!

  • I love this!

  • Heaven Now holds one of the best loved families! God Bless the Goodman Family

  • Hallejuah! Heaven has a great group of gospel singers waiting for us who have given our hearts to Jesus....The real treasure is being with Jesus and getting to hear all the singing awaiting us in Heaven..

    jjjabbers

  • AMEN, I am so looking forward to that day!

    God Bless!

  • I love this song

  • WISH I HAD KNOWN AND HEARD RUSTY WHEN HE WAS IN HIS

PRIME. WHAT A WONDERFUL VOICE, THANK YOU,bw

  • you just heard him in his prime

  • Still just as beautiful and moving as it was many many years ago. Still grips my heart and brings tears to my eyes. What a Savior we have !

    i love vestal and howard...

    i wanna be like them...

  • Just think of how deep the words are: "Who am I that a king would bleed and die for?" Just amazing.

As usual, thanks for posting this clip.

  • OH How Beautiful!

    ((HUGS)) In Jesus,

    Leah
