  • i can really hear the spicy legato influence do you rock mts modules or the over tubed arc modes?

  • I love this! I remember listening to this a year ago, it just keeps getting better everytime I listen to it.

  • I liked this one too!!! I see you put great passion in what you play !! cheers man

  • Awesome, you are the man!! I am soooooo jealous...keep those fingers moving ...Blessings Rev Joey G

  • ur one of the youtube greats man. ur an awsome player, yet u do ur original stuff to-not only covers. really awsome.

  • 2:50 and on is where your steve vai influence comes in

  • It's like Nuno got together with Satriani haha....kick ass man! ^_^

  • Okay, who are you and what have you done with Nuno?? lol j/k. But man, that is undoubtedly the sickest tune you've done yet. Very Nuno-esque, yet its obvious you added your own style as well. I have such a long way to go in my quest for guitar mastry, but you my friend are pretty much there. I oved the Super-Ian transformation, btw lol. Keep it up dude!! Rock on!!

  • ORCsome!

  • Your music is wonderful, oh I like!

  • Nicely played. I kinda hear some Yngwie in there

  • some hair man

  • hey, what do you use to record and for the drums? i want to be able to do things like this but im not sure the best way to do it.

  • You need a sequencer and recording program such as cubase. Then you can program you're drums and bass into that, and record you guitar over the top. Then mix them all together, and hey... thats it ;)

  • It sounds like the Dynasty Warriors 3 and the Air Combat soundtrack teams got together and just played the first thing that came to their heads.

    I LOVE IT.

For those unaware, Air Combat is the US title of the first Ace Combat game. it had an awesome Top Gun theme-ish soundtrack. Dynasty Warriors 3 had a nice metal-themed soundtrack based on traditional Chinese Music of the Three Kingdoms Period. both soundtracks were simply AMAZING.

as is this song. 5/5 for sure.

  • Thanks for you're kind words ;)

  • Such a happy song ! :D

  • Hey Ian, whats your equipment?

    Especially the effectboard?

    Nicely played :)

  • you're honestly amazing

  • Fucking EPIC

  • As always, great stuff, mate!!

  • That was excellent man!! I see a lot of Nuno influence. 5/5!!!

  • Thanks I appreciate it!

  • 1.44-1.52 is too hilarious. Why is this video seen only 2400 times.. Hope you'll break through soon!

  • Thanks dude

  • This is great, I love it. Such possitivity in your play :)

  • Good guitar playing, but all I hear is a Nuno-meets-Vai-clone. I don't hear Ian Laird! If you can make your music personal, it would be much better.

  • that's a fair point but give him time! he has mastered the technique and his own style is there... he's just playing ideas from nuno etc.

  • Oh and the ending is absolutely brilliant :D

  • Wow this is really, really cool!

  • u are awsome i have been playing for 1 and a half years and i cant even imagine doing something like that! :)

  • thats song is very steve vai style :)

    realy cool!

  • Hey! We both play guitar, like Extreme, speak English, and are from places that are United!

But you are above average! I wish you'd post more. You're one of my favorite players.

Thanks, good job, and congratulations. :)

  • The superman shirt..I knew something like that was coming after you started out bundled up in the coat. GENIUS.

That is truly a great composition Ian. I love the interlude at 2:50. So melodic and tasty. Hell yes!!

  • Very nice.

  • Hi there!... u are awsome..I'm starting to play the guitar and i want some tracks to learn improvising and apply some licks...can u send me that one and christimas backtrack please? cya

  • Yes sure, need your email?

  • fuck me dude ur good

  • this sounds very Vai-esque to me :) very good!

  • hey dude i just wanted to know

how did you made the backing track

  • yeah, i've been wondering the same thing

  • Just recorded it into cubase. Used cubase built in bass plugin, and for the drums i used native instruments drum samples. plus some synth effects also in cubase. the rest is pretty much just guitar goin straight through the pod.

  • Oh just noticed, good job on making it to the finals, my friend. :)

    Also, thanks for the info!

  • Hi Ian

  • Of course you could see that Nuno influecence,

    But that was sick man,

    You're Very Talented

  • seems you're liking the "realistic Nuno effect" on your left hand.
