  • Very cool pics! I remember going to several parks on Lake Lanier back then and collecting lots of old bottles, one was a very old beer bottle that was still sealed. I went down to the race track grandstands, was sad to see that kids had broken many of the steps that had survived underwater. Old Federal campground was nice, Off the beach area was the foundation for a house and many tree stumps with roots exposed. The wood from the house was gone but there were still many rusty nails left behind.

  • engine blocks could use some rusteeze cachuga cachuga!

  • Urumje drought been created by HAARP a tool that american neoconservatives have to create drought and famine. The same people are behind democracy and human rights projects.

  • Scrap metal is up. Somebody could make a few bucks on that stuff.

  • I will be there tomorrow glad we don't still have a drout!

  • Interesting....I was there at that time also and saw that sunken motor boat at the Lake Lanier Islands boat ramp. Along with a lot of other junk along the shore.

  • a little wd-40 and those engines will be good as new

  • Are you gonna do a follow-up from same locations with current normal lake level as a before/after type thing?

  • @Jbqb20 Good idea, not sure how hard it will be to get back to most of those spots with the water high though.

  • I wonder why someone would dump old flathead engine blocks in the lake?

  • @anvil357 They used to use those engine blocks to anchor 30+ slip docks many years ago. Now they use giant concrete blocks which are a lot more environmentally friendly.

  • nice tune- i imagine all that metals been picked up and went to the scrappers- no metal would lay around here very long like that

  • cool

  • 1:56, ouch!

  • heh never know what your gonna find at bottom of lakes Heck the Lake McConaughy (kon-a-hay) theres a town at the bottom Well foundations lol

  • I remember walkin around the dried up parts of the lake during that drought. It was pretty wicked.

  • do you live somewhere around Lake Lainer? I do i live 2 miles south of the lake.

  • Our company offers an Atmospheric Water Generator here in Florida and US (Can make Thousands of gallons a day, or just 8 gallons for Home use.)

We use a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine to power it day/night, and we offer this also as a "Hurricane Package" in case power is knocked out, and the city declares the water unsafe.

We are also in production of a Solar Panel Model for those that love Solar! Can also be connected to Electric Power Grid. If anyone would like more information, please message me.

  • hey i just went under the lanier island bridge today

  • the boat at 3:00 is mine, wow good times on that thing

  • How did it sink?

  • @Slugger2351 There was a drought

  • if that was badien lake nc you could see a wwii fighter plane

  • Where is this?

    Thanks

  • cool :D

  • Can anyone say METAL DETECTOR??? Also, Lake Allatoona, and Lake Oconee, are close to full pool. I wonder why?

  • at 2.50 it appears that the drought didnt stop one guy from going out on his jet ski.

  • in my lake we got campers and RVs from a flood that washed out the camp grounds and I know not all the campers were recovered. plus we our share of garbage

  • at least u get to see what is in the bottom of the lake

  • I live close to the Lake and it's rlly not a great sight and it's not fun swimming in a big Lake without water!!!!

  • yhea!!is so sad to see this lake almost emty!

i do live closer to this lake and like 4 years ago i used to swin in the lake lanier....

  • o noe rite it rlly actually scary!!

  • yhea!1 i know!!!!

  • i live right by lake lanier and i used to remember taking our boat out and all the good times, it used to be really pretty

  • Wat is rong wit the Earth:(!!!!

  • Too many golf courses and sports stadiums are sucking this lake dry.

  • scrap money

  • This is so sad! I grew up in Flowery Branch, GA and practically lived at Lake Lanier (from 1987 until 1996) and swam in that lake a lot when I was growing up. It was a wonderful place to go. I would go down to the park that was a 5 minute walk from my house. I was pissed when people threw down their beer cans and garbage, so I cleaned up that park regularly as a teenager. So sad. Now's there's just a dry lake bed, no more cove!

  • And they're trying to steal water from Chattanooga, Tennessee.

  • before the the lake was there lanier is were there was a town and when they backed it up to make the lake they moved all the people out but they did not destroy any buildings though,so if you go scuba diving you might find something (including motors,boats,cowches,ect....)

  • motor parts for sale make offer

  • Excellent photos.

  • what is that thing on 1:55?

  • Absolutely Brilliant!!

As a guitar player and Lake Lanier lover, I really enjoyed it. Drought or not I will be there this summer (Scarab 38)

    Cheers

  • good pics and nice music.

  • screw the mussels

  • With the price of scrap, it would seem profitable to grab up those engine blocks.

  • There my picknick table!!

  • LOL!!!

  • man...that looks almost as bad as tybee islands beach!!!

  • Ther is a Geocache right behind the grandstands at Laurel park.

    Great video

  • I was there about the same time in November but took pics mostly on the south side near Long Hollow Park. I'll do something similar in response here. There are lots of fishing lures around too. That old sunk outboard tri-hull looks like a model from the 1960s. You think anyone will start a clean up project now? Where the hell are these so-called caring environmentalists? Drinking lattes at Starbucks? Anyway, I hope to recover my $110 Ray Bans and $175 Varnets lost in the '90s while drunk :p .

  • I look foward to your video response. Isn't it funny how you forget you're wearing sun glasses when you're drunk :O. Same happened here!

  • Great video and thanks for sharing , I didnt hear from Aqualand marina but I have to go and check my boat!!,can anyone tell me if the recent raining and snow helped a bit ? thanks !

  • I was on my boat at Aqualand this past weekend. It is difficult to notice any appreciable difference. We need a LOT of rain before we can really notice.

  • FORGET HUMANITY! save the mussels... unbelievable - i walked on my old fishing spot last week... doesnt florida have enough water of their own?

  • This is very hard to watch! I live like 4 min away from Lake Lainer. As a teenager i love going on the boat and seado! I cant belive all this happened just this summer. Its terifiying. Lets Protest!

But the coolest thing about this drought is that you get to see all the history from long ago.

  • What are you going to protest?Mother nature?

  • Mother nature is not the problem. The Army Corp of Engineers is the problem. They have released too much water. The GA Power lakes are near full pool! But the Army doesn't control them

  • okay i was just kidding

gezz you have to take it the wrong way.

i was just making my point..

and its not just mother nature.

its EXACTLY what the person said below you said

"Mother nature is not the problem. The Army Corp of Engineers is the problem. They have released too much water. The GA Power lakes are near full pool! But the Army doesn't control them"

  • You did a great job! Thanks for sharing.

  • this drought really sucks

but it is neat to see parts of the lake you never see

  • Nice stuff. You should check out Starboard Marine in Flowery Branch. Old tires, batteries, compressor tanks, shopping carts, furniture. You name, it's coming to the surface. BTW, where is the racetrack located?

  • Yeah I remember a houseboat even showing up at starboard during the last drought around 2000-2001 and they put all the boats on styrofoam. Shallow waters there. The racetrack is at laurel park off of Cleveland hwy north of longstreat bridge in gainesville. Some elderly gentlemen reminiscing about the races there in the 50s. A lot of it involved moonshine :)

  • Great video,It's just sad.
