What was liberty to Davis? He told us. Liberty is being able to own slaves.
I fucking kid you not. According to Davis own writing at start of civil war- the DEFINTION of liberty is the RIGHT to own slaves. Bat shit crazy.
Here is his own letter -
From at least the time of the American Revolution, white southerners defined their liberty, in part, as the right to own slaves and to decide fate of slavery without interference"
@SouthernFriedHoney Lincoln saved the Union and for that we should be grateful. Had the Confederacy prevailed, Southern States would have seceded from it at the first disagreement, the North would have disintegrated, and soon, some European power (probably Britain) would have come over to conquer us.
@mindsp ironically Lincoln saved the Whites in the South more than he saved the blacks.
With the fantastic (and often forced) birth rate in the South, slaves numbers were doubling twice as fast as whites.
Whites faced massive upheaval and race wars eventually. Haiti comes to mind,. Slavery was a cancer -- and Lincoln cut it out. Honestly, the whites should thank Lincoln
If you hadn't been the grand daughter of a slave, you would not be here. The infant mortality rate in Africa is 50% today. Most Americans black or white, yellow or red are decedents of tragic events, potato famines, religious persecution, slavery, bond slaves, labor, etc.
Actually, you used the wrong president. It was Lincoln who was a tyrannical dictator. Lincoln shat on the Constitution, and wiped his ass on the Bill of Rights.
If there is justice in the eyes of God, Lincoln's reward is eternal damnation.
I don't get this...the mouth thing was funny, but Davis wasn't despotic at all! He just disagreed (along with many) with Lincoln's politics, and the politics of the North. He was a good president though! Robert E. Lee agreed and worked under him, and nobody trashes Lee! Now I am from the North so I am ligit in defending him. Jefferson Davis was a hero for the Confederacy. And even if I don't agree with his politics, he was a good president. He deserves better than this, though it is funny.
@Dramaticact101: Ask his slaves about whether or not he was despotic. Ask any of the Black Union troops he sent to the states to be hanged. Ask any of the free Blacks in the North (10 of thousands) he had transported back South for slaves. They will tell you what a despot this wretched man was.
@VictorLepanto In 2006, The Mississippi Bar published a book commemorating its centennial, and tells the early history of Mississippi. Joseph Davis, an older brother, was a lawyer. Joseph owned a plantation and had slaves, and had a rather "progressive" system in place. If a slave were accused of misconduct, he would be tried by a "jury" consisting of slaves, with Joseph as judge. The book does not say whether Joseph ever overruled the jury verdict, as a judge sometimes is able to do.
I don't know why Some of you think Jefferson Davis was a Great Confederate Hero- All he did was sit on his ass in Richmond and Go to Fancy Balls. He wasn't Out there on the Front Lines
like my Great Great Great Great Grandfather whos head was literally Blown Apart by Shrapnel
Oh, yes. Unlike Lincoln, who was right out there on the Union front lines!
Check out Matthew Brady's photos of the fortification of Washington during the War! Lincoln so feared Confederate invasion, he turned the Capitol into a veritable fort!
And I suppose Lincoln NEVER did anything so selfish as attend a play!
If somebody should have been saying "bow before me" it was Ape Lincoln. Davis didn't even want the job of President but he accepted the duty. He was the most incredible President on this continent. Considering the turmoil his country was in for its 4 years, he worked miracles. We will always remember him as an inspiration.
My friend said he was the president of Mexico.

well you obviously don't know what you're talking about because....
A. your fact is a theory and you don't have any logical evidence to prove your point.
B. you obviously don't have a big vocaublary if you find need to prove me wrong with vulgar language.
