  • pretty sure i wanna smack the shit outta that commentator

  • hahahahaha that was boring , wat a car a lil loose exiting turns , it's wet !

  • I hate when people act like fanboys which I can be at time when im defending my beloved NASCAR but damn this V8 racing is pretty fucking exciting

  • touring car best race ever

  • OH-HWOAR, LISTEN TO THAT COMMENTARY BY BIG DARRELL EASTLAKE, IT'S HUUUGE!

  • great race! but i don't think the second commentator could be any more boring!

  • actually larry perkins was on a faster car (the tyres made the difference) than the winner was... and he still fucked up....

  • Wow, what a great race. I got chills.

  • @childsca me too, then again my window is open.

  • not my favorite generation of v8 supercars, but amazing driving

  • this was from the days that they had real cars and modified them to race with, nowadays v8 super cars are like watching formula1, bloody lame, they are basically the same machine except for driver, engine and suspension setup(and yes body shape) but tyres, suspension, fuel tanks even are all the same, takes the fun out of it, come on, who remembers Brock(RIP mate) flogging those ford v8's in his little 6banger torana!

  • loved the headlight flash

  • My God I love Ford!

  • If Ayrton Senna had been a Touring Car driver...

  • @azapro911 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st crash 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st 1st lol and so on for the season

  • @lemans24fan lol Absolutely, he'd have to throw in the occasional crash, y'know, just to give the opposition some false hope, before crushing them immediately! :-)

  • shit was intense!

  • most touring cars and even todays v8 supercars use nascar parts and development experience. Nascar run extremely finely tuned and advanced tech considering the restrictions.

  • @fergus1494 where you find that out?

  • @coomiekid looking at the engine parts.. Nascar block, Nascar heads.. most likely Nascar running gear or the same gear with different measurements for the rules. I think from memory the crankshaft is in a different location because of the v8's rules.. im not fully sure.

  • I'd love to see the cops try to catch one of these guys.

  • Whoa that VCR should get with the times and upgrade to an auto tracking system!

  • he was braking late at every single corner

  • Great to watch, but with sound down, Darryl Eastlake was such a wanker.

  • 1:23 Power over...

  • @justinchwoo

Come on dynamic all the way!

  • & LP was doing it in the "old" 308 not the new Chev 307

  • Some of these kids seem almost proud of their ignorance- "Oo throw a right at a nascar, watch the luls!". These iditos forget about tracks such as Road America, Watkins glen, Gilles Villeneuve, Infineon raceway, etc. Nascars can and regularly do compete on road-courses, very well in fact. Now im hardly a "nascar fan", I simply enjoy all forms of motor sports, be if f1, rally, or nascar, and recognize the skills involved with each. Nascars turn more than just left kiddies.

  • @SidewaysGts right on. a real race lover.any kind of race with wheels and a motor.

  • miss big darryl eastlake and his commentary

  • hardly

  • stop fighting and enjoy the touring cars, who gives a toss about someone else's opinion on motor-racing, if those talking are not in the majority

  • @iShiftFaced F1 cars are very different from one another, you need to take a closer look at them and not just a quick glance. It's hard to distinguish racing bikes from one another by the way they look, but at least they do look like actual bikes you can buy. I like NASCAR but my biggest problem is that they are nothing like actual cars, just a body with some stickers over the surface.

  • I'd love to see more variety, Camrys, Skylines, 370zs, WRXs, EVOs, RX8s etc. Even allowing XR6 turbos would slightly more interesting.

  • @iShiftFaced thats why I dont watch F1, dont even really like motorcycles. Le mans is probably my favorite, the gt class. Those cars use engines dirrectly derived from street engines with bodys that are almost identical to the production versions. Im not saying that the cars, drives, or teams arent incredible, i just like seeing a car that i could actually by racing another car that i could actually buy. Thats what nascar WAS about, "win on sunday, sell on monday".

  • @iShiftFaced nascar is a pale shadow...of itself. cookie cutter cars, cookie cutter driver personalities, and no real attachment to the automakes they race for. none of the fords look like fords, none of the chevys look like chevys,or share a single body panel with them. its good racing, but u cant rote for you fav car coz the all look the same, and all the drivers have the same manufactured personality.

  • LOL.. This is how you watch nascar. Watch the first lap then leave the room for 2 hours, come back for the final lap. Since you've missed nothing it's alright, all they are doing is turning left.. Toss in a hidden right turn and you got yourself trouble.

  • Maybe so, but NASCAR should just run in the rain on roadcourses.

  • @iShiftFaced it takes place in a circle and i've never seen them race in even a light sprinkle not to mention if they get even a little sideways into the wall they go. nascar is a pale shadow of a motorsport compared to touring cars

  • @iShiftFaced complete agreement sir.

  • Seen better.

    MUCH better.

  • To all you guys saying "if only touring cars were like this these days", have you watched V8's recently? It's still mental. I'm an F1 man, but really, you can't go past the excitment of V8 Supercars. Hamilton this year was the most mental race I've watched in ages, cars sliding everywhere and the lead changing constantly.

  • @Shumacher5 Yeah the V8 Supercars are still a great sight belting around the track, just wish the cars on the track were still closely related to the car in the showroom, other than basic body shape I don't think there's a single common part between them.

  • @sw96 Near showroom stock cars are consistently driven at bathurst and other events... 6 and 12 hour events aswell, so if thats not enough motor car then i dont know what is.

  • @Mawled Hmmm, didn't know that, obviously doesn't get the coverage it deserves then.

  • @Shumacher5 agreed! last 15 laps of bathurst this year was epic. F1 could learn so much from other motorsports about how to keep he fans on the edge of their seat.

  • @Shumacher5 People say that about everything. They just want to see the same exact race every year.

  • tarquini at donington was the best drive ever in touring cars

  • The charge in the final laps from Perkins reminds of Button in Canada in 2011.

  • @44jens44 Oh yeah the race where he crashed his teammate out and won the race...well done Jenson.

  • @gojohnson48 races are won on corners - by corners I mean those turning left and right, varying radii, and dips and hills. The only exciting race on NASCAR's racing season is when they race on the Infineon. Besides, what do the spoilers do on the NASCAR racecars? They are essentially speed brakes. What the hell are the race "engineers" thinking?

"Dang it Cletus, we goin' get ourselves a maaaghty beast. Let's put on this metal plate on the back end so our Lord Jesus chraaast can do his magic"

  • Amazing race

  • nobody does controlled defensive like Bowe. Awesome bit of driving from both of them. :)

  • trying to compare different categories is pointless. they all have apsects of their racing that people will either like or loath. this doesnt make them any less difficult to get to the top. a prime example would be marcus ambrose from v8 supercars, obviously talented, wins 2 championships and goes to nascar to start from the bottom to make his way into the sprint cup. if you still think nascars easy how about you ask him.

  • NASCAR drivers can't match these guys skills.

  • @cao57 why does everyone rip into NASCAR? not just you mate but a lot of people...It takes a hell of a lot of skill to drive a car round a track at 300kmh. even if it is an oval. Each type of motorsport requires a very different type of skill for each one. when will people accept that?

  • @mini4life92 I actually thought the same way about NASCAR drivers not so long ago, until I watched a couple of very close races in the Winston Cup. Those guys, besides being really good tacticians, also have balls of steel. I mean it looks simple from your favorite chair in the living room, but I am sure it's far from that. All I wanna say to those that think NASCAR is simple is to give it a shot in Gran Turismo 5 or in any proer simulator on the top difficulty level.

  • @mini4life92 everyone rips nascar because it's so ridiculously boring, these guys have skill on another level compared to nascar...

  • @mini4life92 The reason people rip on NASCAR is not beacuse it dosent take skill its beacuse its possibly the most boring sport ever (NFL is a close second, NRL all the way.) and to be completly honest it dosent take more skill than pretty much all forms of motorsport. V8 super cars go 300kmph then brake to 100kmph take the corect line though a corner whilst feathering the gas into the exit of the corner. NASCAR go 300kmph follow close to car pass.. be passed.. drafting drafting.. borning.

  • @m00seimu5 Van you drive a car at 300kmh inches from a wall and bumping another car??? Even though its an oval, yes i'll agree it can get pretty boring. but there is still just as much skill involved to keep those cars pointing in a straight line as any other type of motorsport...

  • @mini4life92 Dont know id give it a go tho. but think about it other race cars have the same power and need to control that car around corners that are all different, with other cars bumping into them. to control a car at 300kmph is hard but to go from 0-150-60-250-40 and so on is harder. have you driven a powerful car around a tight corner while pushing the gas. to do that fast takes skill.

  • @m00seimu5 nascars have no power steering, they have very little downforce, in excess of 800hp not 600 like these, the tracks are often bumpy like this too, and infact there are a number of tracks on the nascar calender that are short and require constant accelerating and braking, and feathering of the throttle :) have you ever watched an entire nascar race to absorb all the facts and stuff before coming to a conclusion like you have? GAH, now we are being keyboard warriors...yay for us...not

  • @mini4life92 While I am a diehard Nascar fan, I must correct you on one thing. They do, in fact, have power steering. There are numerous instances in past races where a driver has lost power steering due to the belt breaking or pump failing ( they do not use a serpentine belt like street cars ). When they do lose it, the car becomes a bear to drive, and while the drivers have the stamina to finish the race, the can't run competitive lap times without it.

  • @maverickfa14 thats pretty much the only help they have, no anti lock brakes, no speed limiters for pit road, nascar is about the pure raw mechanical skill, other forms of racing are highly technologically driven, i love all forms of racing and respect the drivers of all, to do this takes balls and skill, i still dont get why people rip on one form of racing, just doesnt make sense to me

  • Bloody awesome!

  • They put modern-day F1 to shame right there!

  • @LegoRacer41 Damn right

  • what a race

  • this is pretty much a night out in my town.

  • What a load of shit!!!!.... We are know oz racing is wank!

  • Is that Daryl Eastlake commentating?

    Mr. Excitable himself LOL

  • and they could still drive there cars at the end.........

  • Did anyone notice that neither one try to punt the other off?

  • @legochuckles - I think cause they where showing great sportsmanship and respecting each others skills...

  • This is the best race in the world waw

  • NASCAR rednecks can't compute touring cars and BTCC

  • @operationcwaI789789 why not?

  • @operationcwaI789789 NASCAR rednecks can't compute why inbreeding is wrong.

  • @operationcwaI789789 if either type of driving were easy you would be doing it

  • @operationcwaI789789 dude... that is so unoriginal. And besides, I live in Colorado... I'm about as far from a redneck as they come haha

  • @NR2003racer016 It's become unoriginal because it's true. NASCAR is awful.

  • @operationcwaI789789 who says you have to be a redneck to like/ watch NASCAR?

  • @24GordonFan223 common sense. Only rednecks have a short enough attention span to forget how horrifically boring it is.

  • @operationcwaI789789 ford is the most dominitive make in touring car history and ford originated in the U.S. where most of them are made so if it werent for NASCAR rednecks you wouldnt have ever had good touring car racing.

  • @FIREDELL10 Well no your saying that without NASCAR, ford wouldn't exist which isn't the case.NASCAR has nothing to do with the beginning of ATCC/V8 supercars, Ford and Holden were the 2 dominant manufacturers back in the 60's/70's that started the bathurst rivalry which went on to what we see today. If NASCAR inspired this why arnt they racing on ovals instead of using skill and ability on road courses?

  • @Nbsimons18 im not saying ford wouldnt exist if NASCAR didnt exist, how did you manage to get that? i said that nascar rednecks MADE ford cars. if it werent for nascar there wouldnt have been as much of a ford racing side, not ford in general.

  • that is awesome. they don't get that lose these days. They are way faster though these days.

  • Wish Touring cars was as exiting as this in the modern days

  • @LambertHarry WTCC has some neat action at times but not so often

well I felt the urge to say a few things. Formula 1 develops many technologies that are eventually used in everyday cars.

Nascar has no tc no stability control and no ABS. neither does f1. and seriously why would you need brakes when all you do is turn left and step on the gas pedal?

I wish fia changed the aerodynamy and engine regulations and all other regulations. cos the main thing of f1 is technology and good engineering

  • The lights flash was the coolest thing ever.

  • 36 peopls mous is not working well

  • Loves the Perkins / Ingall days

  • whether your a fan or not that was simply brilliant racing, from both jb and perkins those last two laps were as entertaining as the sport gets

    great stuff!

  • love Darrell Eastlake oooohhhhhh look at him go

  • @1fourtheheap so? did you not watch any of this!? he was awsome!

  • commentator is great

  • They can really drive...FR in Wet = Massive Oversteer...Thumbs up

  • it looked so cool when they like, drifted round the corner, then corrected :)

  • Skaife or Lowndes going from last to first at Adelaide is a better drive than this.

This just came down to tyre choice.

  • Eastlake = Wally

  • John Bowe, Harder to pass than a kidney stone....

  • This man can drive!!!! =)

  • This is back when they used the FULL Adelaide Street Circuit

  • fantastic. thanks for posting. real racing, proper drivers.

  • Pure class, that race was intense man!

  • This is why JB is one of Australia's greatest drivers !

  • For anyone who is interested...This race was in mid to late 1994.The EB's got those front spoiler side cut-outs homologated midway through 94 as holden (With the help from CAMS) had already just about sown up the championship...

  • Wicked defending, Bowe put his car in all the right places to keep Perkins (who was on the better tire) out, and did it fairly.

  • Where can i find a full race?

  • that's

    insane

    driving

  • thats how a V8 super car should be driven

  • Fantastic stuff!

  • awhh thats shit.. i thought holden was gonna win :(

  • What a driving.. WOOH! :D

  • Why was he driving on the wet parts of the track? They mentioned it, I just don't understand.

  • @DontEatTheReaper wet track tires are grooved for treads and they are also a softer compound. Running them on dry tracks heats them up more than when running on wet, to the point they fail sooner. He's trying to keep them in the traction "sweet spot".

  • One of the best Ford vs Holden Battles to date! :D Great upload

  • what year was this??

  • @XtR3mMotorsportTV11 Being an aussie, judging by the model of car, an educated guess is ~1993ish

  • Australian Murray Walker by any chance???

  • @MW2Ross thats big Darrel "beefsteak" Eastlake

  • Epic.

  • This is the VP mate running a Perkins built 305 stroker.

  • this could be where drifting came from LOL

  • top clip and fantastic driveing

  • Damn! That was a bloody nice bit of driving by all involved.

  • The tire selection decided the outcome.

  • LARRY DA-MAN!!

  • Larry could drive, always fun to watch

  • What NASCAR SHOULD be

  • Most Holdens used a 307 chev for cost, But Larry used a 304 Holden motor in his race cars though most of the 90's! Ford used a 302 windsor!

  • they use 307 chevs not 302

  • EPIC

  • EPIC

  • Outside clipping point to inner apex = fastest exit speed

  • v8 supercar drivers = hard barsterds!

  • What a race! :) Soo good! :)

  • Was really hoping Perkins won there. My arse was like a rabbits nose watching them going through that last corner. Good effort lad. x

  • This is the old F1 track isn't it?

  • @Dagashi6669 Yes it is.

  • Best drive? That was bullshit Perkins was miles faster and Bowe just blocked him. Best blocking should be the title

  • @Tizzzla

I think the title is more of a reference to Perkins rather then Bowe

But on your point of Bowe blocking in my opinion defensive drving can be considered great driving, particularly in a situation like this where Perkins was so obviously faster then Bowe and yet he was able to hold him off.

  • Man...I wish I could drive like that...

  • BTCC much better.

  • Wet track? bleh i'd hate to drive on that.

  • Bowe, Perkins, Seton, Johnson & Gardener as a top five, not to mention the other big names outside that top five.

    They were the days!

  • nah rwd drive mate

  • My dad used to work with John Bowe in devenport as a car salesman

  • Fantastic!! the stuff legends are made of. Its been years since we've seen a race like this, the closest we get today is from ' the Giz' car #9 but nothing as good as this.

  • omg larry is a legend :P i woz on the edge ov my seat all the way. thats how you drive :P go larry :P

  • Thanks for posting! Great race

  • That was freaken amazing

  • Haha the announcer was like "OMG BOWER AND PERKINS RAEHAHRARA!!"

It kept me on the edge of my seat, lol

  • The second golden years of BTC.

  • this kept me so entertained the whole way threw haha yeww holden out sideways every corner nearly :P

  • @sofranko101 no mate they are rear drive and run either a 302 Chev or 302 Ford windsor during this race. This was under the new (still current) super car rules where they run non original motors in the cars. A couple of years before this they were running the original block (Australian Holden 304 and a local version of the Cleveland ford v8). During this race in 1994 the cars them self were still very close to original but now days there's not really any factory parts left on them

  • @greenfoam didnt perkins pride himself of staying with the holden engine and engineering them himself?

  • @greenfoam the holdens ran a 304 holden block

  • @greenfoam I know this is old and im not neccessarily disagreeing with you here, just curious. Wasnt the chev a 307 as aposed to 302?

  • @greenfoam This is actually incorrect, the ford ran a 302 windsor, otherwise known as a 5L windsor and was current for the EB2 XR8. The Ford Cleveland motor ended its career in 1984. The Holden 304 was current until 1993 but was succeeded by the Chev 302 as the Holden cylinder head would not flow as well as the Chev.

  • @sofranko101 are you Stupid?? these a Commodore's & Ford's both RWD!!! can't you see them sideways?

  • @driftingcomo

Are you saying you can't get FWD cars sideways. Try watching some BTCC.

  • @sparkygl0s yeah you can get fwd sideways if you try, but v8 sc drivers try not to get sideways, but they kick out anyway. put simply rwd's for obvious reasons will always kick out better

  • @sofranko101 i dont think their is such thing as a V8 super car FWD? you are dumb

  • @driftingcomo im sorry im not a supercar nerd that doesnt have a life and talks shit over electronics, fuck you, you pussy

  • @sofranko101 How could you be so idiotic?

  • go FORD!

  • No shit my dad actually painted Larry Perkins VP commodore in this video!

  • If anyone is interested I'm going to upload the full length of this race soon, better do it before the tape totally falls to bits

  • @greenfoam

Get it up mate! This is a classic

  • @greenfoam please do if you havent already

  • @greenfoam thankyou for the post!

  • @greenfoam Thanks for saving that videotape =)

  • Truly Best Race!!!

  • verry verry VERRY nice job larry

  • NOOO! I lost to Justin Bieber!
