@ciaran3707 Telecaster -->Marshall. I doubt Graham was the first to do it, but he really maximized the sonic potential of that combination. The "twanginess" of the tele really works well with Blur's style, especially with the the playful feel of Parklife. The crunch and punch of the Marshall helped "drive it home," as they say. One of my favorite guitar players ever. He is consistently underrated and overlooked, which is a shame, because he's one of the best of the past 20 years.
I first saw Swowtime when i was 15 on the BBC. I was about as excited as it is legal to possibly be. I taped it and watched every day for as long as i can remember. They came to Manchester within a year and i've never looked back since. Best band of my generation by far.
great bassline to this song. each one has their own special talents- damon's songwriting, graham's guitar playing, alex's general coolness and dave with the whole labour party thing
I dont know if anyone else has noticed, but (in the uk at least) Alex James seems to be someone who's opinion on everything is most revered the the moment. He was on question time, nd did a panorama programme about cocaine, but in blur, he hardly said thing. Just saying...
Yes, I noticed. He called himself the "second drunkest member of blur" in his autobiography. I think he may have matured, cut down on the partying and has something to say now. I mean, the focus was always Damon and Graham. How can you compete with that. Plus, I read that he was quite happy to be on the sidelines partying.
I love this song, and because they are from my hometown its means more, "got on the first train to walton" - walton is a short train journey from colchester, were they formed :)Graham also looks proper cool in this video
You look at this video - I imagine its from the late 90s - and their look hasn't dated at all. Brilliant, imaginitive music, cool look, these were heady days for British music and Blur were right at the forefront.
"Spiders," from the band Space, really? You feel that that album is in the top 10? I won't knock you, but being very familiar with that album I could not place it in my top 10. Not enough space here to list them but the artists would include Blur(2), Oasis(1), Mansun(2), Radiohead(2), Flaming Lips(1),Elastica(1), and Suede (1).
05:10 he looks so tired :( poor damon...

'Britpop' might have been another dodgy term invented by journalistic tossers, but the music in this era is pretty fucking special.
Magic America is such an underrated tune btw.

Great guitar tone. I know Graham's style of playing is pretty unique but even so I'm surprised that type of guitar tone isn't more prevalent.
