@Amidity: Why shouldn't Google try and take over? So what if their product if free, lots of other products are free too that they have. You don't see people complaining about IE8 when they have blatantly copied Chrome and all of the other browsers. Chrome is about making a browser which everyone can use and enjoy by combining features from other browsers. All open source mind and completely copyright free allowing other web browsers to use their code making the web a better place for everyone

I realize that Google is trying to dominate all internet media. They own the search engine, the video hosting, emails, blogs, the translator, phone operating system, and tons more. I know they work hard to achieve and maintain this monopoly, buying out competitors and aggressively promoting their own products. But a web browser just seems a little pathetic. I mean, they're going through all this trouble to oust a nonprofit, perfectly capable web browser just so that they can get more control.

With extensions in the stable release I switched from Firefox 3.6, speedy startup and browing too. Firefox requires too much maintainance to run smooth.

And every extension is using an extra 10 MB of memory :D The browser itself is using 50 mega, flash player 40 and a youtube tab 80.

So if you're using 10 extension, and want to watch two youtube videos in separate tabs, that's 300+ MB of ram.

I liked chrome, because it was lightweight.
